  • In this paper, both dynamic constraints and kinematic constraints are considered for the analysis of manipulability of robotic systems comprised of multiple cooperating arms. Given bounds on the torques of each Joint actuator for every robot, the purpose of this study is to drive the bounds of task-space acceleration of object carried by the system. Bounds on each joint torque, described as a polytope, is transformed to the task-space acceleration through matrices related with robot dynamics, robot kinematics, object dynamics, grasp conditions, and contact conditions. A series of mathematical manipulations including the procedure calculating minimum infinite-norm solution of linear equation is applied to get the reachable acceleration bounds from given actuator dynamic constrains. Several examples including two robot systems as well as three robot system are shown with the assumptions of complete-constraint contact model(or' very soft contact') and insufficient or proper degree of freedom robot.

  • One of the most important feature of the Mobile Manipulator is redundant freedom. Using the redundant freedom, Mobile Manipulator can move various mode, perform dexterous motion. In this paper, to improve robot job ability, as two robots perform a job in co-operation control, we studied optimal position and posture of Mobile Manipulator with minimum movement of each robot joint. Kinematics of mobile robot and task robot is solved. Using mobility of Mobile robot, weight vector of robots is determined. Using Gradient methode, global motion trajectory is minimized. so the job which Mobile Manipulator perform is optimized. The proposed algorithm is verified with PURL-II which is Mobile Manipulator combined Mobile robot and task robot. and discussed the result.

  • This paper analyses the torque characteristics of the shoulder and elbow joints of a humanoid robot arm that is useful for an object lifting and transferring task instead of human beings. For the purpose, some typical human lifting behaviors are considered, and various simulations for lifting and transferring an object have been performed by employing a humanoid robot arm having a simple configuration of shoulder and elbow joints. Through the simulation, it is shown that the torque patterns and ranges of the shoulder and elbow joints required for such a humanoid lifting and transferring task can be found earlier in the design of a humanoid robot arm. As a result, this effort is useful for us to design an effective robot arm.

  • In this research, we proposed a new approach to implement the real-time motion control of biped robot based on voice command for unmanned FA. Voice is one of convenient methods to communicate between human and robots. To command a lot of robot task by voice, voice of the same number have to be able to be recognition voice is, the higher the time of recognition is. In this paper, a practical voice recognition system which can recognition a lot of task commands is proposed. The proposed system consists of a general purpose microprocessor and a useful voice recognition processor which can recognize a limited number of voice patterns. Given biped robots, each robot task is, classified and organized such that the number of robot tasks under each directory is net more than the maximum recognition number of the voice recognition processor so that robot tasks under each directory can be distinguished by the voice recognition command. By simulation and experiment, it was illustrated the reliability of voice recognition rates for application of the manufacturing process.

  • This study examines whether the reinforcement theory would be effectively applied to teaching assistant robots between a robot and a student in the same way as it is applied to teaching methods between a teacher and a student. Participants interact with a teaching assistant robot in a 3 (types of robots: positive reinforcement vs. negative reinforcement vs. both reinforcements) by 2 (types of participants: honor students vs. backward students), within-subject experiment. Three different types of robots, such as 'Ching-chan-ee' which gives 'positive reinforcement', 'Um-bul-ee' which gives 'negative reinforcement', and 'Sang-bul-ee' which gives both 'positive and negative reinforcement' are designed based on the reinforcement theory and the token reinforcement system. Participants' task performance and reaction rate are measured according to the types of robots and the types of participants. In task performance, the negative reinforcement robot is more effective than the other two types, but regarding the number of stimulus, the less the stimulus is, the more effective the task performance is. Also, participants showed the highest reaction rate on the negative reinforcement robot which implies that the negative reinforcement robot is most effective to motivate students. The findings demonstrate that the participants perceive the teaching assistant robot not as a toy but as a teaching assistant and the reinforcement interaction is important and effective for teaching assistant robots to motivate students. The results of this study can be implicated as an effective guideline to interaction design of teaching assistant robots.

  • A Teaching and Operating Expert System (TOES) was designed in order to perform a task effectively which is inaccessible to man. Once an error occurs in the middle of the task operation, the automatic mode is converted into a manual mode. After recovering the error by the manual mode, the manual mode should be converted into the automatic mode. It was necessary to improve the manual mode in order to increase the availability of a man-robot system, a part of the human interface technique. Therefore, the Error Recovery Expert System must be constructed and developed.

  • If an error occurs in the automatic mode when the advanced teleoperator system performs a task in hostile environment then the automatic mode changes into the manual mode. The operation by the control program and the operation by a human recover the error in the manual mode. The system resumes the automatic mode and continues the given task. It is necessary to improve the manual mode in order to make the best use of a man-robot system, as a part of the human interface technique. Therefore, the error recovery task is performed by combining the operation by the control program representing autonomy of a robot and the operation by a human representing versatility of a human operator effectively in the view point of human factors engineering. The geometric inverse kinematics is used for the calculation of the robot joint values in the operation by the control program. The singularity operation error and the parameter operation error often occur in this procedure. These two operation errors increase the movement time of the robot and the coordinate reading time, during the error recovery task. A singularity algorithm, parameter algorithm and fuzzy control are studied so as to remove the disadvantages of geometric inverse kinematics. And the geometric straight line motion is studied so as to improve the disadvantages of the operation by a human.

  • Collision free task planning for dual-arm robot which perform many subtasks in a common work space can be achieved in two steps : path planning and trajectory planning. Path planning finds the order of tasks for each robot to minimize path lengths as well as to avoid collision with static obstacles. A trajectory planning strategy is to let each robot move along its path as fast as possible and delay one robot at its initial position or reduce speed at the middle of its path to avoid collision with the other robot.

  • A new method for a guide robot using Real-Time Linux OS is introduced in this paper. A guide robot is to guide people in museums or buildings. So it has to be more reliable and stable in its control system. In addition, it has to satisfy Real-Time operation requirement because it needs to react to changing environment prompty. The task includes localization, map building, collision avoidance, path planning, and user interface software. The modular guide robot is designed with Real-Time Linux OS, which is composed of many open sources for scheduler, interrupt dispatcher, fifos, shared memory, timer services. We developed application software to satisfy the given task. The developed guide robot moves at 0.2ms and the interrupt latency is less than 100$\mu\textrm{s}$ It is thought that the developed system can be a stable and low cost open architecture robot controller for ...
