There have been many autonomous robot calibration methods which form closed loop structures through the various attached sensors and mechanical fixtures. Single point calibration among them has been used for on-site calibration due to its convenience of implementation. The robot can reach a single point with infinitely many configurations so that single point calibration algorithm can be set up and easily implemented relative to the other methods. However, it is not still easy to drive the robots' sharp edge to its corresponding edge of the fixture. This is error-prone process. In this paper, we propose a 3 dimensional small displacement measuring sensor and a robot calibration algorithm based on this sensor. This method relieves the difficulty of matching two edges in the single point calibration and improves the resulting robot accuracy. Simulated study is carried out on a Hyundai HA06 robot to show the effectiveness of the proposed method over the single point calibration. And also, the resulting robot accuracy is compared with that from 3D laser tracker based calibration to show the dependency of robot accuracy on range of the workspace where the measurement data are collected.

Cutting process has been automated by progress of CNC and CAD/CAM, but polishing process has been depended on only experiential knowledge of expert. To automate the polishing process, a polishing robot with w degrees of freedom which is attached to a machining center with 3 degrees of freedom has been developed. This automatic polishing robot is able to keep the polishing tool normal on the curved surface of die to improve a performance of polishing. Polishing task for a curved surface die demands repetitive operation and high precision, but conventional control algorithm can not cope with the problem of disturbance such as a change of load. In this research, a new sliding mode control algorithm is applied to the robot. The signal compression method is used to identify polishing robot system. to obtain an effect of 5 degrees of freedom motion, a synchronization between the machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. And also a trajectory for polishing the curved surface die by 5 degrees of freedom motion, a synchronization between the machining center and polishing robot is accomplished by using M code of machining center. And also a trajectory for polishing the curved surface die by 5 axes machining center is divided into data of two types for 3 axes machining center and 2 axes polishing robot. To evaluate polishing performance of the robot. various experiments are carried out.

This paper proposes an intuitive real-time robot control system using human body movement. Recently, it has been developed that motion generation for humanoid robots with reflecting human body movement, which is measured by a motion capture. However, in the existing studies about robot control system by human body movement, the detailed structure information of a robot, for example, degrees of freedom, the range of motion and forms, must be examined in order to calculate inverse kinematics. In this study, we have proposed Associative Motion Generation as humanoid robot motion generation method which does not need the detailed structure information. The associative motion generation system is composed of two neural networks: nonlinear principal component analysis and Jordan recurrent neural network, and the associative motion is generated with the following three steps. First, the system learns the correspondence relationship between an indication and a motion using training data. Second, associative values are extracted for associating a new motion from an unfamiliar indication using nonlinear principal component analysis. Last, the robot generates a new motion through calculation by Jordan recurrent neural network using the associative values. In this paper, we propose a real-time humanoid robot control system based on Associative Motion Generation, that enables user to control motion intuitively by human body movement. Through the task processing and subjective evaluation experiments, we confirmed the effective usability and affective evaluations of the proposed system.

This paper proposes a SVM(Support Vector Machine) training algorithm to control a service robot with voice command. The service robot with a stereo vision system and dual manipulators of four degrees of freedom implements a User-Dependent Voice Control System. The training of SVM algorithm that is one of the statistical learning theories leads to a QP(quadratic programming) problem. In this paper, we present an efficient SVM speech recognition scheme especially based on less learning data comparing with conventional approaches. SVM discriminator decides rejection or acceptance of user's extracted voice features by the MFCC(Mel Frequency Cepstrum Coefficient). Among several SVM kernels, the exponential RBF function gives the best classification and the accurate user recognition. The numerical simulation and the experiment verified the usefulness of the proposed algorithm.

In this paper, we used a laser range finder (LRF) to detect both the static and dynamic obstacles for the safe navigation of a mobile robot. LRF sensor measurements containing the information of obstacle's geometry are first processed to extract the characteristic points of the obstacle in the sensor field of view. Then the dynamic states of the characteristic points are approximated using kinematic model, which are tracked by associating the measurements with Probability Data Association Filter. Finally, the collision avoidance algorithm is developed by using fuzzy decision making algorithm depending on the states of the obstacles tracked by the proposed obstacle tracking algorithm. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated through experiments with the experimental mobile robot.
This research is concerned with the development of an Internet-based robot system, which is insensitive to the unpredictable Internet time delay. For that purpose, a simple mobile robot system that moves in response to the user' direct control on the Internet has been built. The time delay in data transmission is a big problem for the construction of this kind of system. Therefore, the PPS (Position Prediction Simulator) is suggested and implemented to compensate for the time delay problem of the Internet. The simulation and experimental result show that the distance error can be reduced using the developed PPS.

Many research in Robot control has effectively proceeded on the development of Aritficial Intelligence Robot which is able to apply to the uncertain and monotonous operations which are repeated continuously in the industrial field. In this study, the precise shape recognition of base metal for welding was gained by mono CCD camera, and the gained data was transformed into Decimal code through Image Board in computer. And the Fuzzy Logic control system designed by use of Fuzzy rule was built to judge whether the base metals were precisely matched or not with Decimal code. Machanically manipulated Robot syst em was linked to Fuzzy Control system through image information, and ultimately, these systems will be able to apply for production system.
This paper presents a Fuzzy+PID control method for a Bridge Inspection Robot(BIR) system. The BIR has been developed with the aim of checking the safety status of a real bridge, gathering accurate data and performing maintenance. The developed robot system is composed of the specially designed car for bridge inspection, the guide rail and the inspection robot. The proposed Fuzzy+PID controllers are used to track speed reference signal of X axis and position reference signal of Z axis. Experimental results verify that the proposed Fuzz+PID control design method can achieve favorable control performance with regard to external disturbance.

An intelligent robot with RSSI based indoor location estimation function was designed and implemented. A wireless sensor node was attached to the robot to received the location data from the indoor location estimation function. Spartan III was used as the main control device in the mobile robot. The current location data collected from the indoor location estimation system was transferred to the mobile robot and server through Zigbee/IEEE 802.15.4 wireless communication of the sensor node. Once the location data is received, the sensor node senses the direction of the robot head and directs the robot to move to its destination. Indoor location estimation intelligent robot is able to move efficiently and actively to the user appointed location by implementing the proposed obstacles avoidance algorithm. This system is able to monitor real-time environmental data and location of the robot using PC program. Indoor location estimation intelligent robot also can be controlled by executing the instructions sent from the PC program.

This study proposes a new technique to design and control of robot hand gripper for assembling and disassembling of a machine parts. The motion equation describing dynamics of the manipulators and object together with geometric constraint is formulated by Lagrange-Euler's equation. And the problems of controlling both the grasping force and the rotation angle of the grasped object under the constraints are analyzed. The effect of geometric constraints and a method of computer simulation for overall system is verified. Finally, it is illustrated that even in case of there exists a sensory feedback from sensing data of the rotational angle of the object to command inputs control of joint and this feedback connection from sensing data to control grasping of machinery parts.
