It focuses on how information technology adoption affects supply risk as well as performance. It collected one hundred fifty nine responses from supply executives and supply and purchasing managers of U.S manufacturing firms by applying a survey methodology. The research results provide empirical evidence that the use of information technology in the supply chain mitigates supply risk and improves performance. More importantly, information technology adoption involves three aspects: inbound and outbound communications, internal communications and administration and finally, mitigation of supply risks and improved performance via order taking and procurement. This research emphasizes the importance of IT implementation in supply risk management. It also points out how information technology adoption facilitates the impact of information technology in risk mitigation in the supply chain and in performance. Thus, supply and purchasing managers need to consider IT implementation and adoption when establishing their risk mitigating strategies within the supply chains.

  • This paper examined the effects of youth entrepreneurship on entrepreneurial intention. Especially, we considered scholastic performance as a moderator on the relationship between youth entrepreneurship and their entrepreneurial intention. An empirical analysis on 251 students attending their third year of Suncheon High School revealed the following results. First, the youth entrepreneurship(risk taking, innovativeness and proactiveness) significantly positive affected entrepreneurial intention. The result corresponds to what many preceding studies emphasize, implying that when risk taking, which enables perseverance through uncertain situations, increases; innovativeness, which enables breaking away from existing frameworks, increases; and proactiveness, which creates new opportunities through future-oriented behavior, increase, the entrepreneurial intention of teenagers also increases. Second, a review of the interaction effect of scholastic performance discovered evidence that scholastic performance moderates the relationship between proactiveness and entrepreneurial intention of youth toward a negative(-) direction. In other words, proactiveness positively effects on entrepreneurial intention, but higher scholastic performance imply that such positive tendencies become weakened. The results of the present study will be able to provide significant theoretical and practical implications in carrying out follow-up studies on the youth entrepreneurship, which has been, up to now, relatively neglected.

  • This study is to identify the structural relationships among undergraduates' individual characteristics(need for achievement, risk-taking propensity), startup education, startup-relevant knowledge and the entrepreneurial intentions. The mediating variables examined were startup education and startup-relevant knowledge. In results, the higher need for achievement the undergraduates get, as the individual characteristics of college students, the more active the entrepreneurial education is to receive. Students with a risk-taking propensity have a positive influence on their knowledge of entrepreneurship and expect to acquire any knowledge of entrepreneurship even if they are not actively receiving entrepreneurial education. However, risk-taking propensity showed that entrepreneurship education and need for achievement had no effect on entrepreneurial knowledge. On the other hand, entrepreneurship education itself shows that it can be a driving force to promote entrepreneurship. In addition, since entrepreneurship education positively affects the entrepreneurial will with the knowledge of entrepreneurship as a parameter, it is necessary for the students to increase entrepreneurial will by getting entrepreneurship education and improving the knowledge about entrepreneurship. In order to do this, the school should formalize regular business start-up education and acquire business startup-relevant knowledge. Therefore, although the individual characteristics of college students influence the will to start a business, it is necessary to find out the will and opportunity of the startup by implementing and acquiring the startup education and startup-relevant knowledge. In this study, some of the universities in the specific area have been studying on the startup education. However, the future study should be conducted on the schools that have startup education nationwide.

  • Biased performance implications are common in conducting empirical analysis on leading firms in strategic management field. Venture businesses in which successful and failing firms in the future are mixed in the present could provide a better discriminative result for examining the determinants of performance. We suggest hypotheses on how competitive strategy, CEO characteristics, and their interactions affect firm performance. We examine these hypotheses through empirical analyses on the basis of a survey collected from 387 venture businesses in order to assure the validity of strategic management theories by using more deviated data. Empirical results show that innovative differentiation from competitive strategies affects firm performance and innovativeness and long-term orientation from CEO characteristics affect firm performance. According to the results of the interaction analyses between competitive strategies and CEO characteristics, cost-leadership and marketing differentiation strategies have combination effects with risk taking, innovativeness, and long-term orientation, while innovative differentiation strategy has no combination effects with risk taking, innovativeness, and long-term orientation. We conclude that cost-leadership and marketing differentiation strategies have no direct effect on firm performance but have combination effects with CEO characteristics, while innovative differentiation strategy has direct effect on firm performance but has no combination effect. Our primary contribution is that we test and confirm that the fit between competitive strategies and CEO characteristics are an important consideration to increase firm performance in venture businesses.

As sub-variables of psychological characteristics, desire for economic achievement, self-fulfillment, and risk-taking tendencies were classified. The collected 357 questionnaires, SPSS v24.0 and Process macro 3.5 were used for empirical analysis. As a result, first, it was showed that self-fulfillment and start-up preparation had a positive (+) effect on entrepreneurial intention, and the effect of desire for economic achievement and risk-taking tendencies on entrepreneurial intention was not significant. Second, it was confirmed that psychological characteristics and start-up preparation had a significant positive (+) effect on the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition. Third, it was found that the effect of the entrepreneurial opportunity recognition on the entrepreneurial intention was significant in the positive (+) direction. Fourth, entrepreneurial opportunity recognition was tested as mediating the psychological characteristics of workers, start-up preparation and entrepreneurial intention. As a follow-up study, it is recommended that studies to analyze moderated mediating effects by the conditional process model including moderating variables and to discover the third mediator other than a mediator used in the research should be conducted.

  • Many former studies for the entrepreneurial intention dealt with the opportunity-driven motivation, but the actual entrepreneurial motivation is the necessity-driven motivation such as maintaining a living. It is necessary to study the necessity-driven factors for entrepreneurship such as employment barriers and job dissatisfaction. This study focused on the fact that the majority of cultural artists are freelancers or self-employed entrepreneurs. For those who majored in culture and arts, this study was conducted to investigate how an individual's internal and external environment affects the entrepreneurial intention considering the theory of planned behavior. I explored the factors that led individuals to choose entrepreneurial intention between employment and entrepreneurship, and studied the relationship between these factors and the entrepreneurial intention. As the result of the study, the job dissatisfaction and the employment barriers were the pressure factors for entrepreneurship. Job satisfaction had a negative effect on the entrepreneurial outcome expectation and the entrepreneurial intention. The perceived employment barrier had a positive effect on the entrepreneurial outcome expectation and the entrepreneurial intention. An individual's risk-taking orientation is one of the entrepreneurship and had the positive effect on the entrepreneurial self-efficacy. The entrepreneurial outcome expectation and the entrepreneurial self-efficacy had a positive effect on the entrepreneurial intention.
