동전기법을 이용한 점토성-사질토에 존재하는 자원 회수 증진을 위한 적용성 연구 (Application for Improving Resource Recover at Clay-Sandy Soil based on Electrokinetic Technology)

  • 점토성-사질토에 분포하는 양이온 금속들과 석유를 효율적으로 회수하기 위한 방법으로 동전기법 연구를 제안하였다. 제안된 동전기법은 투수계수가 낮은 매질 속에 존재하는 중금속에 포함되어 있는 양이온 금속 또는 석유등의 회수를 위해, 양극탱크(Anode chamber)에서 발생하는 잉여가스의 압력을 이용해서 점토성-사질토 샘플에 재주입하여 회수하는 기법이다. 제안된 동전기법의 성능을 확인하기 위해 제작된 샘플은 총 7일간에 점진적으로 압력을 증가시켜 최종 30psi($2.11kgf/cm^2$)의 압력으로 압축과정을 거쳐 완성되었다. 압축 전 샘플 내에 구리링을 삽입하여, 실험 종료 후 구리링의 변화된 모습을 관찰하였다. 본 연구에서 사용된 모듈은 가압식 모듈과 비가압식 모듈이고, 각각의 실험 테스트는 24시간 동안 2V/cm의 전압 경사 조건으로 연속적인 처리 공정으로 진행하였다. 그 결과, 가압식 모듈의 효율이 비가입식 모듈보다 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

Dynamic Shear Stress of Tough-Pitch Copper at High Strain and High Strain-Rate

  • Dynamic shear tests for the tough-pitch copper at high strain and high strain rate was performed. The Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) compression test system was modified to yield a shear deformation in the specimen. Hat-shaped specimens for the tough-pitch copper were adopted to generate high strain of γ=3~4 and high strain-rate of γ= 10$^4$/s. The dynamic analysis by ABAQUS 5.5/EXPLICIT code verified that shear zone can be localized in hat-shaped specimens. A proper impact velocity and the axial length of the shear localization region wert determined through the elastic wave analysis. The displacement in a hat-shaped specimen is limited by a spacer ring which was installed between the specimen and the incident bar. The shear bands were obtained by measuring the direction of shear deformation and the width of deformed grain in the shear zone. The decrease of specimen length has been measured on the optical displacement transducer. Dynamic shear stress-strain relations in the tough-pitch copper were obtained at two strain-rates.

표면처리 및 윤활제에 따른 열간 단조 금형의 수명 평가 (Die Life Estimation of Hot Forging for Surface Treatment and Lubricants)

  • This study explains the effects of lubricant and surface treatment on hot forging die life. The mechanical and thermal load, and thermal softening which is happened by the high temperature of die, in hot and warm forging, cause die wear, heat checking and plastic deformation, etc. This study is fur the effects of solid lubricants and surface treatment condition for hot forging die. Because cooling effect and low friction are essential to the long life of dies, optimal surface treatment and lubricant are very important to improve die life for hot forging process. The main factors, which affect die hardness and heat transfer, are surface treatments and lubricants, which are related to thermal diffusion coefficient and heat transfer coefficient, etc. For verifying these effects, experiments are performed for hot ring compression test and heat transfer coefficient in various conditions as like different initial billet temperatures and different loads. The effects of lubricant and surface treatment for hot forging die life are explained by their thermal characteristics. The new developed technique in this study for predicting tool life can give more feasible means to improve the tool life in hot forging process.

Methodology for numerical evaluation of fracture resistance under pinch loading of spent nuclear fuel cladding containing reoriented hydrides

  • It is important to maintain cladding integrity in spent nuclear fuel management. This study proposes a numerical analysis method to evaluate the fracture resistance of irradiated zirconium alloy cladding under pinch load known to cause Mode-III failure. The mechanical behavior and fracture of the cladding under pinch loading can be evaluated by a Ring Compression Test (RCT). To simulate the fracture of hydride precipitates, zirconium matrix, and Zr/hydride interfaces under the stress field generated by RCT, a micro-structure crack propagation simulation method based on Continuum Damage Mechanics (CDM) has been proposed. Our RCT simulation model was constructed from microscopic images of irradiated cladding. In this study, we developed an automated process to generate a pixel-based finite element model by separating the hydride precipitates, zirconium matrix, and interfaces using an image segmentation method. The appropriate element size was selected to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of a crack propagation simulation. The load-displacement curves and strain energies from RCT were compared and analyzed with the simulation results of different element sizes. The finalized RCT simulation model can be used to establish the failure criterion of fuel rods under pinch loading. The advantages and limitations of the proposed method are fully discussed here.

Development and testing of multicomponent fuel cladding with enhanced accidental performance

  • Accident Tolerant Fuels have been widely studied since the Fukushima-Daiichi accident in 2011 as one of the options on how to further enhance the safety of nuclear power plants. Deposition of protective coatings on nuclear fuel claddings has been considered as a near-term concept that will reduce the high-temperature oxidation rate and enhance accidental tolerance of the cladding while providing additional benefits during normal operation and transients. This study focuses on experimental testing of Zr-based alloys coated with Cr-based coatings using Physical Vapour Deposition. The results of long-term corrosion tests, as well as tests simulating postulated accidents, are presented. Zr-1%Nb alloy used as nuclear fuel cladding serves as a substrate and Cr, CrN, CrxNy layers are deposited by unbalanced magnetron sputtering and reactive magnetron sputtering. The deposition procedures are optimized in order to improve coating properties. Coated as well as reference uncoated samples were experimentally tested. The presented results include standard long-term corrosion tests at 360℃ in WWER water chemistry, burst (creep) tests and mainly single and double-sided high-temperature steam oxidation tests between 1000 and 1400℃ related to postulated Loss-of-coolant accident and Design extension conditions. Coated and reference samples were characterized pre- and post-testing using mechanical testing (microhardness, ring compression test), Thermal Evolved Gas Analysis analysis (hydrogen, oxygen concentration), optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy (EDS, WDS, EBSD) and X-ray diffraction.

ATM망의 멀티미디어 데이터 처리를 위한 가입자단 플랫폼 (The Customer Premise Platform for Processing Multimedia Data on the ATM network)

  • 본 논문은 ATM 망에서 멀티미디어 데이터 서비스를 지원하기 위한 가입자단 플랫폼을 제안한다. AAL2 프로토콜, 스케줄러 알고리듬 등이 별도의 AAL2 프로세서로 설계되어 제안된 플랫폼은 AAL/ATM 관련 기능이 소프트웨어로 처리되던 기존 플랫폼에 비해 호스트 프로세서의 부하를 크게 줄일 수 있으며 ATM망을 통한 멀티미디어 데이터의 실시간 처리가 용이하게 하였다. 2중 타임 슬롯 링 구조를 적용한 ATS(Adaptive Time Slot) 스케쥴러는 VBR-rt, UBR, CBR 트래픽의 데이터 스케쥴링을 위한 효과적이고 간단한 방안을 제공한다 음성 압축 및 처리를 위하여 TI의 TMS320C5402 DSP를 적용하였고 AAL2 프로세서는 0.35 마이크론 공정에서 칩으로 제작되었다. VoDSL(Voice over DSL) 서비스를 위한 프로토콜을 구현하여 가입자 단말을 설계 제작하고 시험망에서 실험을 해 본 결과 $97\%$이상의 통화 성공율과 안정된 음성 서비스를 보장할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.

마찰스프링의 주퇴복좌장치 적용성 연구 (Application Study of Recoil Mechanism using Friction Springs)

  • The conventional medium and large caliber gun, in general, utilize the hydro-pneumatic recoil mechanism to control the firing impulse and to return to the battery position. However, this kind of mechanism may cause the problems like the leakages and the property changes in oil and gas due to the temperature variations between low and high temperatures. Accordingly, the friction spring mechanism has recently been researched as an alternative system. The friction spring mechanism consists of a set of closed inner and outer rings with the concentric tapered contact surfaces assembled in the columnar form, and can only be used under the compression load. When the spring column is axially loaded, the tapered surfaces become overlapped, causing the outer rings to expand while the inner rings are being contracted in diameter allowing an axial displacement. Because of friction between tapered contact surfaces, much higher spring stiffness is obtained on the stroke at the increase in load than the stroke at the decrease. In this paper, the dynamic equations regarding the friction spring system and the design approach have been investigated. It is also tried for a dynamic model representing the recoil motion and the friction spring forces. And the model has been proved from firing test using a gun system with friction springs. All the results show that the recoil mechanism using friction springs can substitute for the classic hydro-pneumatic recoil system.

준설매립지반의 압밀거동 예측을 위한 구성관계식 산정 및 압밀정수 평가 (Evaluation of Constitutive Relationships and Consolidation Coefficients for Prediction of Consolidation Characteristics of Dredged and Reclaimed Ground)

  • 본 연구에서는 해성점토로 기 매립된 준설토 지반의 압밀특성 및 평가방법에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. 자중압밀 진행 중인 고함수비의 준설매립지반은 불교란 시료의 채취가 사실상 불가능하므로 압밀특성 파악에 어려움이 있다. 이를 위해 실무에서 압밀거동 분석을 위해 적용하는 압밀정수를 교란된 시료로 이용하여 실내실험으로 평가하는 방법에 대하여 연구를 진행하였다. 실험은 기본물성실험과 표준압밀실험, 일정변형률압밀실험과 60, 100, 150mm 직경의 Rowe-cell압밀실험을 수행하였으며, 함수비 조건을 변화하면서 40g의 중력수준에서 원심모형실험을 수행하였다. 실내 압밀실험시 현장의 응력조건에 해당하는 강제압밀로 시료를 조성하여 보다 합리적인 압밀특성을 파악할 수 있었다. 원심모형실험결과로 획득한 시간-침하관계를 침하예측기법으로 분석하여 최종침하량을 분석하였다. 분석결과, Asaoka방법을 적용한 해석결과가 원심모형실험에 의한 자중압밀결과의 경향을 잘 나타내었으며, 이를 통하여 최종침하량을 추정하였다. 또한, 실내압밀실험과 자중압밀실험결과에 대한 역해석을 통하여 유한변형률 압밀이론의 간극비-유효응력-투수계수 구성관계식을 산정하였다. 구성관계와 다양한 압밀실험을 통하여 획득한 결과를 비교 분석하여 연구대상 지역의 압축지수, 팽창지수, 체적변화계수, 연직 및 수평압밀계수 등의 압밀정수를 제안하였다.
