  • According to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann, people do not live understanding the objective existence, but live defining the reality that is socially constructed. This study analyzed the frame of news report dealing with public figures to inquire into the following subjects: Which group is defined as a public figure? Which role and obligation are required for a public figure? Which standard can be set to judge right and wrong of behavior of a public figure? The research result shows that the press mentioned with most frequency politicians and broadcasting-related people as public figures. In case of politicians, the press focuses most on scandals related to their duties and qualities, while in case of broadcasting-related people, the press focuses most on scandals relevant to ethical problems.

  • As the field of robots is evolving to intelligent robots that can replace even humans' mental or emotional labor, 'robot ethics' needed in relationship between humans and robots is becoming a crucial issue these days. The purpose of this study is to consider the ethics of robots and humans that is essential in this post-human age. It will deal with the followings as the main contents. First, with the cases of developing ethics software intended to make robots practice ethics, the authors begin this research being conscious about the matter of whether robots can really judge what is right or wrong only with the ethics codes entered forcibly. Second, regarding robot ethics, we should consider unethicality that might arise from learning data internalizing human biasness and also reflect ethical differences between countries or between cultures, that is, ethical relativism. Third, robot ethics should not be just about ethics codes intended for robots but reflect the new concept of 'human ethics' that allows humans and robots to coevolve.

  • Web based learning has been used for many educational systems by aid of the development of internet technique. The true process of education includes not only learning contents but also learning process and the evaluation. So far, Web-based evaluation mainly consists of the evaluation of the learning products or the evaluation of the cognitive domain. But, there is lack of the appropriate feedback for learning effects. In this paper, we design and implement an evaluation system for Web-based instruction. In our system, the learners are evaluated during the process of Web-based learning. Our system provides learner-centered instruction for students with instant feedback. The questions made up by teachers are stored in the database and can be searched by a keyword, grade, semester or unit. The evaluation system can also provide the feedback to right or wrong answer for each question. Our system provides the learners with instant feedback after solving the questions and also can improve the quality of learning process using the Web.

  • This study examined the difference in the item characteristics in multiple-choice aptitude tests focusing on the response position, response length and question types. A university aptitude test consisting of 80 questions was used for this study. The subjects were 3120 senior high school students from 80 schools nation-wide (liberal arts-1650, natural sciences-1467 patients). The results suggest that item prediction is higher for numbers 2 and 3 (located in the middle) than numbers 1 and 4. The item discrimination was higher for pick-the-'wrong'-items than pick-the-'right'-items. In addition, longer choices are preferred. The suggestions for future research are provided based on these findings.

  • In my previous paper (2009), I defended a solution of the Sleeping Beauty problem, according to which, on Monday, Sleeping Beauty assigns a lower credence to the coin's landing heads than 1/2. This conclusion was largely favorable to the Thirder view. However, even if my defense of the Thirder view was successful, it left one important question to be unanswered: Where did the Halfers go wrong? Their main argument was simple: Because Sleeping Beauty does not receive new and relevant evidence about how the coin lands, her credence in its landing heads should remain to be the same. But note that, if the Thirder view was right and Sleeping Beauty receives no new and relevant evidence, then this becomes a special case of the so-called old evidence problem (Glymour, 1980). In this paper, I will explain why it is rational for Sleeping Beauty to change her credence despite the lack of new evidence about the coin's landing heads. For this explanation, I will use Garber's well-known solution to the old evidence problem.

  • The reference-class problem is known as a problem that frequentism on the nature of probability is supposed to encounter. Alan H$\acute{a}$jek argues that other theories on the nature of probability also meet this problem inevitably and claims that we can resolve the problem by regarding conditional probabilities as primitive. In this paper I shall present an adequate way of understanding the reference-class problem and its philosophical implications by scrutinizing his argument. H$\acute{a}$jek's claim is to be classified into the following two: (i) probability is relative to its reference class and (ii) what is known as the 'Ratio' analysis of conditional probability is wrong. H$\acute{a}$jek believes that these two are to be closely related but I believe these two should be separated. Moreover, I shall claim that we should accept the former but not the latter. Finally, regarding the identity condition of reference class I shall distinguish the extensional criterion from the non-extensional one. I shall claim that the non-extensional criterion is the right one for the identity condition of reference class by arguing that the reference-class problem should be regarded as an instance of the qua-problem.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the clinical nurses' knowledge of DM and diabetes patient education aptitude so as to provide a basis for clinical nurse training with respect to diabetes patient education program. The data has been collected through the questionnaires of 42 items from the Knowledge on DM and each 16 item from the Importance on the elements of diabetes patient and the Recognition for clinical nurses, respectfully. 166 nurses from a general hospital who had participated in clinical nurse training in Sep. 28 and Oct. 4, 2001 were subject to respond the questionnaires. Analysis has been done by using statistical method such as percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test and Pearson correlation coefficients. The findings are as follows: 1. Clinical nurses' knowledge levels of diabetes 1) The average level of nurses' knowledge about diabetes is 29.37 (right answer- finding rate: 70%), which is intermediate. 2) Amongst the nurses classified by their knowledge levels about diabetes, the group with less than one year career and that with more than 5 year careers are found to have higher knowledge levels. The item with the highest right answer-finding rate was 'Please find the wrong out of the following examples about foot care'. Meanwhile, the item with highest incorrect answer-finding rate was 'what does blood sugar control aims for amongst gestational diabetes?'. 2. Clinical nurses' importance and perception levels of educational training about diabetes 1) There were no differences amongst nurses' importance level about diabetes. 2) Nurses usually had high scores(4.30) in terms of the items related to the importances about educational training. 3) There were quite high recognitions of general characteristics and symptoms about diabetes, amongst the nurse cohorts working more than one year and less than 5 years, and over 5 years, the group belonging to the internal department, that having the previous experiences of dealing with diabetes, and that having their diabetic relatives and other close people. Meanwhile, strangely, the group who identified themselves as 'not good at treating diabetes' had a high recognition level of educational training about diabetes. 3. Relationship between knowledge levels and importance & perception levels of diabetes 1) The higher knowledge about diabetes nurses had, the more importance they recognized. 2) It is found that there was no relationship between knowledge and perception of diabetes. 3) The more importance about diabetes nurses had, the higher perception they obtained. In conclusion, there is an urgent need for systematic educational programs about diabetes including technical aspects, in order to upgrade and improve nurses knowledge levels. In addition, re-educational training should be provided at regular intervals. Further, we believe the nurses with high knowledge about diabetes and interests in the provision of educations for patients can be far more confident, and in return, patients can have better self-management about diabetes obtained through educations. Based on the above-mentioned findings, we would like to make the suggestion: re-evaluation about nurses' knowledge and cognition levels should be carried out after job training programs about diabetes.

  • Jeon Kwang(癲狂), term of oriental medicine, corresponds to psychopathy. This is recorded in the 22th chapter of Young Chu(靈樞). Jeon and Kwang come under Eum(陰) and Yang(陽) respectively. The symptoms of Jeon have silence, cry and giggle alternately, muttering, and so on. And those of Kwang have quick-tempered, absurd remarks, slander, and so on. The contents of this chapter are divided into three volumes. The first is descriptive of paroxysmal causes and various symptoms of Jean and methods of acupuncture and moxibustion. The second stales causes, symptoms, and remedy methods of Kwang. And the third describes about Pung Youk(風逆), Kweol Youk(厥逆), So Ki(少氣), and Tan Ki(短氣). A paragraph concerning of Mok Ja(目眥), so to speak side of pupil, is mentioned at the begginning of this chapter incomprehensibly. Si Ma(馬蒔) asserted that this one is not a pleonasm because mental condition is seen at Mok Ja. But Sa-Deok Jeong(程士德) decided this one doesn't relation to Jeon Kwang. In my opinion, both views have proprieties. It is in a controversy whether Jeon Kwang has somthing to do with Pung Youk, Kweol Youk, etc. Tan Pa(丹波) asserted that these don't have connection each other. But JI-Chong Jang(張志總) explained Jeon Kwang originates in Kweol Youk with a basis of So Mun(素門). It is difficult to judge which opinion is right, but I am of the opinion that paragraphs of Pung Youk and downward mentioned those of other chapter with a mistake in the process of transcription. On accout of not only shortage contents but also ancient writings of this chapter we cannot understand all about Jeon Kwang. In addition, each woodblock-printed book has different letters and every commentaries aren't the same. Till now, therefore, basic study hasn't been done enough to offer a foundation to the theory of medical treatment. The purpose of this study is to correct wrong letters, to take out right commentaries, and then to interpret the accurat meaning of this chapter. I think this bibliographic study is quite meaningful because of hardship to cure psychopathy in clinic as well as of a viewpoint of basic study. However as this thesis is insufficient, so I expect many studies come out later.

  • Signs of the street and scenes of the nature(tree) popping up like a still screen in a monotonously repeated routine, as if waiting for something by chance, characters appearing and disappearing without special meaning, advise you to get away from cliché meetings and breakups while repeating it. The images of people returning to their places without presenting any conclusions highlights the coincidences and unexpectedness of everyday life, but are so familiar that it is easy to be overlooked, it brings us to experience the potential of everyday unfamiliarity in such moments. The actor's performance, which deviates from the practice of well-organized characters, is improvised (unplanned and uncoordinated) emphasized on the scene and expresses the everyday nature of his differentiated character freely like the reality as if he were locked up in a film structure but not confined to it, and as if he got used to the everyday life. Also the repeated words and actions of characters, and unpredictable changes of emotions, centered by the encounters and conversations of this film of Hong Sang-soo, everything that is presented in the background of everyday life in its form, let's us pay attention to the meaning and what to be found in the film. In addition, director Hong Sang-soo, who creates a story after selecting actors to reproduce this daily process in a realistic manner, sets new relationships between the characters and the actors, presenting a new method of realistic expression, through the actor who repeatedly appears in the film. This study analyzes the everyday characters and acting of the film based on director Hong Sang-soo's directing style.

  • Intra-block remarshalling is the task of rearranging into some target bays those containers whim are scattered around the block, so that the containers can be loaded onto the ship ffficiently. Howeuer, if we rearrange the containers without considering the container larding sequence, too mud! rehandling work will be required at the time rf larding to fetch the right containers whim are stacked under the wrong ones. Therefore, the remarshalling should be done by moving the relevant containers in an appropriate order. This paper presents an efficient heuristic search technique for finding an appropriate container moving order during remarshalling to avoid rehandling at the time of larding. Simulation experiments have shown that the proposed method can generate rehandling-free solutions in a real time.
