Regulation of MDA5-MAVS Antiviral Signaling Axis by TRIM25 through TRAF6-Mediated NF-κB Activation

  • Tripartite motif protein 25 (TRIM25), mediates K63-linked polyubiquitination of Retinoic acid inducible gene I (RIG-I) that is crucial for downstream antiviral interferon signaling. Here, we demonstrate that TRIM25 is required for melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA5) and MAVS mediated activation of NF-${\kappa}B$ and interferon production. TRIM25 is required for the full activation of NF-${\kappa}B$ at the downstream of MAVS, while it is not involved in IRF3 nuclear translocation. Mechanical studies showed that TRIM25 is involved in TRAF6-mediated NF-${\kappa}B$ activation. These collectively indicate that TRIM25 plays an additional role in RIG-I/MDA5 signaling other than RIG-I ubiquitination via activation of NF-${\kappa}B$.

  • Pulmonary arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a complication of the Glenn shunt. A 57-year-old tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) patient, who had undergone a Glenn shunt and TOF total correction, complained of dyspnea and cyanosis. PAVFs were present in the rig ht lung, and rig ht lung perfusion was nearly absent. After coil embolization, takedown of the Glenn shunt, and reconstruction of the rig ht pulmonary artery, the patient's symptoms were relieved. Extrapulmonary radioisotope uptake caused by the PAVFs shown in lung perfusion scans decreased, and right lung perfusion increased gradually. Although the development and resolution of PAVFs after a Glenn shunt have been reported in the pediatric population, this may be the first report on this change in old age.

  • Uncontrolled regeneration characteristics of two different type SiC DPFs(diesel particulate filters) were investigated by DPF test rig devised to facilitate DPF evaluation, especially for regeneration and MSL(maximum soot loading) test similar to engine dynamometer test. In order to estimate the limits of maximum filter temperature and temperature gradient causing filter fracture, such as crack or whitening, the temperature distributions inside the filter were measured by thermocouples. The maximum filter temperature was observed near the rear plane of central filter region due to heat accumulation by exothermic reaction of PM but the maximum temperature gradient occurred at the boundary of high filter temperature. These two parameters induced the different SiC DPFs to fracture with different modes, whitening and crack.

  • 초소형 터보제트엔진에 적용되는 반경형 연소기에 대한 전부하 연소리그시험과 고고도 점화시험을 수행하였다. 지상정지, 표준대기 조건에서 엔진의 최대운용점에서 연소리그시험과 기본 점화시험을 수행한 결과, 11.2%의 압력손실과 99.85%의 최종 성능을 도출하였으며, 주 시동영역에서 공기과잉율 $2{\sim}6$의 점화영역이 측정되었다. 30,000 ft 고고도 점화시험을 실시하여 고공환경에서의 점화영역을 측정하였고, 이러한 결과를 통해 개발된 연소기의 설계가 타당함을 입증하였다.

  • In order to figure out the physical meaning of 3-D angular flow index for in-cylinder bulk motion, CFD analysis for the swirl and tumble steady flow test rig were made using commercial package STAR-CD. Computer simulations and rig tests on some kinds of induced flow conditions were carried out. Finally, based on the comparison between the simulated results and measured results, the physical meaning of 3-D angular flow index $|\longrightarrow_{N_B}|$, $\beta$ composed of swirl and tumble coefficients measured by steady flow test rig was described.

  • The effect of helical intake port geometry on in-cylinder swirl flow characteristics was studied. Two helical intake ports were selected to change swirl ratio, mean flow coefficient with the variation of valve lifts, valve eccentricity ratios and axial distance. The measurements were made by using an impulse swirl meter. The port B modified to increase the swirl ratio( $R_{s}$) had the tendency of the increased non-dimensional rig swirl ( $N_{r}$) distribution in comparison with that of the port A. And the $N_{r}$ distribution was remarkably improved at low valve lifts. The modification of the geometry to increase the swirl ratio ( $R_{s}$) in helical intake port resulted in the decrease of the mean flow coefficient ( $C_{f(mean)}$) regardless of valve eccentricity ratio ( $N_{y}$). And also non-dimensional rig swirl ( $N_{r}$) in the high valve lift affected the calculation of swirl ratio considerably.onsiderably.

  • Each owner or operator of offshore products uses a maintenance management system like CMMS(Computerized Maintenance Management System) in order to manage their assets effectively and efficiently for a long time. But most of maintenance management systems have been focused on machinery items, not on 'Hull' until now. On the other hand, classifications like ABS, DNV, GL are having a sale on hull inspection and maintenance system for ships and an interest in hull maintenance system is increasing because of the application of EDD(Extended Dry Docking). This paper discusses the concept, inspection process and the practical application of Hull maintenance for Semi-submersible drilling rig to extend the service life and run a stable operation.

유빙 하중을 받는 계류된 반잠수식 시추선의 응답해석 (Numerical Simulation on the Response of Moored Semi-submersible Under Ice Load)

  • This study simulated ice load and the motion response of a moored semi-submersible rig in pack-ice conditions using a finite element method. Ice flows of random size and shape were modeled, and interactions for ice-sea, ice-structure, ice-ice were simulated using a simplified method. Parameters for the simplified method such as drag force coefficient and the pressure-penetration relation were obtained based on the result of detailed analysis using the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method. The mooring lines were modeled by spring elements based on their stiffness. As a result of the simulation over 1,400 seconds, the force and motion response of the rig were obtained and validated using discrete elements and compared with the results found by the Krylov State Research Centre.

밸브 양정의 연속 변화에 의한 준정상 유동 조건에서의 엔진 실린더헤드 유량계수 특성 (Characteristics of Flow Coefficients in an Engine Cylinder Head with a Quasi-steady Flow Condition by Continuous Variation of the Valve Lift)

  • Flow Coefficients of intake port in an engine cylinder head were measured by a newly designed flow rig. In measuring the flow coefficient with traditional method, the valve lift was manually varied by technician with adjusting a micrometer which is directly connected to the intake valve of the cylinder head. The cam shaft of the cylinder head is directly rotated by a step motor and the valve lift was automatically varied with cam shaft profile in the newly designed flow rig. The measurement of the flow coefficient was automated by rotating the cam shaft with the step motor. Automatic measurement of the flow coefficient could be safely measured by separating a technician from the noise and vibration of the traditional flow rig. Also, the automatic measurement of the flow coefficient reduce the measurement time and provide meaningful statistical data.

  • We present a new code for solving non-LTE radiative transfer problems in a general grid (RIG). RIG develops from RATRAN code (Hogerheijde & van der Tak 2000) using the Accelerated Monte-Carlo method, and it can cope with line overlap effect among multiple molecular and atomic species. In this algorithm we make grids in arbitrary coordinates adequate to the problem, but, on the other hand, photons propagate in the Cartesian coordinates. For spherical, cylindrical and other well defined coordinate, the problem of tracing photon's path reduces to solving simple quadratic equations. For example, the outflow in the star formation have high dynamic range in scales from a few AU to ~ 0.1 pc and have also cylindrical symmetry. So, we have used (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate system, where r is the distance from the origin and ${\alpha}$ is z/ R2 in the cylindrical coordinate of (R,z). The (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate realizes the density - power function of r - and temperature distributions of the problems with smaller numbers of grid than the cylindrical coordinate does, and the former consumes less time to solve the problems than the latter.
