Rhododendron에 있어서 Peroxidase 동위효소(同位酵素)의 변이성(變異性) (Variation of Peroxidase Isoenzymes in Rhododendron plants)

  • 우리나라에서 자생(自生)하는 R. mucronulatum, R. yedoense var. poukhanese와 R. schlippenbachii 3종(種)을 공시(供試)하여, 그 잎의 활성효소(活性酵素)를 추출(抽出)한 후(後) polyacrylamide gel disc 전기영동(電氣泳動)을 하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1. R. mucronulatum에서 3개(個), R. yedoense var. poukhanese에서 15개(個), R. schlippenbachii에서 10개(個)의 peoxidase 동위효소(同位酵素)를 얻었다. 2. R. yedoense var. poukhanese와 R. schlippenbachii는 5개(個)의 동일(同一)한 peroxidase 동위효소(同位酵素)가 있는 점(點)으로 보아 이 2종간(種間)에는 밀접(密接)한 유연관계(類緣關係)가 있는 것으로 추정(推定)되었다. 3. 3종간(種間) peroxidase banding pattern의 상관관계(相關關係)는 유의차(有意差)가 인정(認定)되지 않았다. 4. Rhododendron peroxidase band density와 엽면적(葉面積), 엽폭(葉幅)/엽장비간(葉長比間)에는 뚜렷한 상관관계(相關關係)가 없었다. 5. R. yedoense var. poukhanese와 R. schlippenbachii는 R. mucronulatum에 비(比)하여 변이(變異)의 폭(幅)이 컸다.

  • 본 연구에서는 민주지산에 서식하는 철쭉(Rhododendron schlippenbachii)의 뿌리에서 내생균을 분리하였다. 형태적 특성의 확인 및 ribosomal DNA의 internal transcribed spacer(ITS) 지역, large subunit (LSU)지역의 분자적 분석을 통해 국내 미기록종인 Engyodontium album, Phaeosphaeria microscopica 2종을 동정하였다. 연구 과정에서 확인된 미기록종 내생균 2종의 형태적, 분자적 특성을 여기에 기술하였다.

Tyrosinase Activity and Melanogenic Effects of Rhododendron schlippenbachii Extract In vivo and In vitro

  • Rhododendron schlippenbachii have been used as a medicine because of their various biological activities. In this study, R. schlippenbachii ethanol extract was evaluated for the treatment of vitiligo. The R. schlippenbachii ethanol extract did not show any cell cytotoxicity. The effect on mushroom tyrosinase and cellular tyrosinase activities were further assessed. In addition, the determination of melanin content in melanocytes was measured using both the B16 melanoma cells and C57BL/6J Ler-vit/vit mice. Finally, the existence of quercetin in R. schlippenbachii was confirmed by qualitative analysis using HPLC. The results clearly demonstrated the R. schlippenbachii extract enhanced melanogenesis and also increased tyrosinase activity in cultured melanoma cells and C57BL/6J Ler-vit/vit mice. In addition, treatment with R. schlippenbachii extract led to a higher content of melanin and eumelanin in C57BL/6J Ler-vit/vit mice hair than in control (untreated) mice, which demonstrated the therapeutic effect of hair-graying associated with vitiligo. Finally, we confirmed a notable increase in melanocytes in the skin of C57BL/6J Ler-vit/vit mice treated with R. schlippenbachii extract compared with the control. Extracts of R. schlippenbachii was shown to be potent tyrosinase and melanin synthesis activator in B16 melanoma cells. The R. schlippenbachii extract have significantly higher melanin content than the untreated control in C57BL/6J Ler-vit/vit mice hair. The results suggest that R. schlippenbachii extract might be considered as an alternative treatment for improvement of vitiligo.

면양과 산양의 철쭉중독 발생 (Rhododendron Poisoning in Sheep and Goats)

  • 2-4세령의 면양 4두와 1-3세령의 한국재래산양 5두가 정원수를 가지치기 한 후 던져준 철쭉 (Rhododendron schlippenbachii)을 섭취하고 난 후 다음날 식욕감퇴, 무기력, 욕지기, 침흘림, 구토, 호흡곤란, 비틀거림, 서맥 등의 중독증상을 나타내어 철쭉중독으로 진단한 후 atropine과 carbo-pulbit를 처치하였다. 처치 후 8시간째에 1두의 한국재래산양이 폐사되어 부검을 실시한 결과 위 내에서 다량의 철쭉잎이 관찰되었으며, 나머지 면양과 한국재래산양은 3일 이내에 모두 회복되었다.

Simultaneous analysis of anthocyanins and flavonols in various flower colors of Rhododendron schlippenbachii (royal azalea)

  • Anthocyanins contained in Rhododendron schlippenbachii (royal azalea) are expressed in a variety of colors and affect flower colors. R. schlippenbachii flowers of seven colors (white, red group: pink, deep pink, red, purple group: light purple, purple, deep purple) were collected from the garden around KT&G building in the college of agriculture and life science. Seven types of anthocyanins [cyanidin 3-O-diglucoside, cyanidin 3-O-arabinoside-5-O-glucoside, cyanidin 3-O-galactoside, peonidin 3-O-arabinoside-5-O-glucoside, cyanidin 3-O-glucoside, cyanidin 3-O-(6"-O-malonyl) arabinoside, cyanidin 3-O-(6"-O-coumaroyl) glucoside] turned out to be from the cyanidin and peonidin series in R. schlippenbachii flowers. Also, seven types of flavonols [azaleatin 3-O-glucoside, azaleatin 3-O-arabinoside, azaleatin 3-O-rhamnoside, quercetin 3-O-galacatoside, quercetin 3-O-glucoside, quercetin 3-O-arabinoside, quercetin 3-O-rhamnoside] were identified in R. schlippenbachii flowers. Total anthocyanin amounts decreased in R. schlippenbachii flowers in the following order: 'deep pink' (8.07) > 'red' (6.37) > 'pink' (5.35) > 'deep purple' (0.78) > 'purple' (0.43) > 'light purple' ($0.22mg{\cdot}g^{-1}$ dry weight, DW) > 'white' (not detected). Total flavonol amounts decreased in the following order: 'pink' (97.78) > 'deep pink' (63.79) > 'deep purple' (61.98) > 'white' (57.58) > 'light purple' (47.06) > 'purple' (46.76) > 'red' ($7.60mg{\cdot}g^{-1}$ dry weight, DW). This study provided the quantitative and qualitative information for the variation of anthocyanin and flavonol compounds in R. schlippenbachii flowers. Furthermore, this information can contribute to the identification of anthocyanin and flavonol compounds in other Rhododendron flowers.

철쭉 가지 에탄올 추출물 및 용매별 분획물의 항산화 활성과 Tyrosinase 저해 활성 (Antioxidative Activity and Tyrosinase Inhibition Effect of Ethanol Extract and Its Fractions from the Branch of Rhododendron schlippenbachii)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the antioxidative activity and tyrosinase inhibitory activity of 50% ethanol extract and its fractions from the branch of Rhododendron schlippenbachii. In DPPH radical scavenging ability, butanol and ethyl acetate fractions showed 59.98% and 55.17% of relative activity compared with positive control (ascorbic acid), but the 50% ethanol extract showed relatively low activity. In nitric oxide (NO) scavenging ability, the ethyl acetate and butanol fractions showed 141.80% and 131.55% relative activity compared with ascorbic acid as used for positive control. On the other hand, tyrosinase inhibitory activity of the ethyl acetate and butanol fractions showed about twice higher activity than positive control (arbutin). It means that the ethyl acetate and butanol fractions from the extract of R. schlippenbachii branch has ability for used as effective radical scavenger and tyrosinase inhibitor.

중국 장백산(長白山) 일대의 진달래(Rhododendron mucronulatum var. mucronulatum), 산진달래(R. dauricum), 철쭉(R. schlippenbachii)의 분포 및 생태적 특성 (Ecological Characteristics and Distribution of Rhododendron mucronulatum var. mucronulatum, R. dauricum, R. schlippenbachii on Mt. Changbai in China)

  • The investigation was made about distribution and ecological characteristics of Rhododendron mucronulatum var. mucronulatum, R. dauricum and R. schlippenbachii on Mt. Changbai in China. The Ericaceae plants are known to be highly ornamental and easy to cultivate. The results of investigations are like followings. The plant species diversity was the highest in habitats of R. mucronulatum var. mucronulatum, followed by those of R. schlippenbachii and R. dauricum. R. mucronulatum var. mucronulatum community was found in the northwest exposure areas of 300m in altitude. Corylus heterophylla, Carex humilis var. nana, Atractylodes japonica species also grew in the R. mucronulatum var. mucronulatum community. R. dauricum communities were widely distributed in the west exposure areas of 1226-1860m above sea level. R. schlippenbachii populations were found in areas of under 300m above sea level, which has dry soil. But humidity of air was relatively high in the place. Artemisia japonica, Lespedeza bicolor and Dactylis glomerata were found around the habitats of R. schlippenbachii. Phalanx type of plants were dominant near the habitats of Ericaceae plants as 61%. Further, there appeared higher plant life totalling to 72 taxa comprising 54 species, 16 varieties and 2 forma with 31 families and 59 genuses at the whole survey area. Among these, Compositae plants excellent in resistance to environment was surveyed the most, accounting for 30.0%.

冠岳山의 高度에 따른 진달래와 철쭉꽃의 開花와 開葉時期 (On the Flowering and Leafing Time of Rhododendron mucronulatum and R. schlippenbachii along Elevation at Mt. Kwanak)

  • Phenological development, flowering and leafin times of Rhododendron muronulatum and R. schlippenbachii along elevagtion were studied at Mt. Kwanak, 629m high above the sea level, in Seoul. Flowering and leafing time of the former were delayed at the rate of 2.3~3.3 days and those of the latter were of 2.0~3.0 days per 100m ascent. Phenological changes of both plant species were closely correlated with minimum air temperature first, and then soil water content and minimum soil temperature among the climatic factors. Phenological difference caused by altitude and slope direction(southeast-northwest) among the topographic factors was admitted at the high significance level, but the difference by ridgevalley was little.

설악산국립공원 대청봉-한계령 지역의 산림군집구조에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Structure of Forest Community at Taech'ongbong-Hangyeryong Area in Soraksan National Park)

  • 설악산국립공원의 대청봉-한계령 지구를 중심으로 분포하고 있는 천연림의 생육현황과 군집구조를 파악하고자, 이 지역에 45개의 방형구(20m*20m)를 설치하여 식생을 조사하였다. Cluster 분석한 결과 네 개의 군집, 신갈나무-당단풍 군집, 분비나무-피나무-신갈나무 군집, 분비나무-주목 군집, 분비나무-신갈나무 군집으로 분류되었다. 수종간의 상관관계는 분비나무와 사스래나무; 분비나무와 눈잣나무; 분비나무와 털진달래; 사스래나무와 눈잣나무; 사스래나무와 털진달래; 눈잣나무와 털진달래; 신갈나무와 철쭉꽃; 신갈나무와 병꽃나무; 나래회나무와 개회나무; 나래회나무와 산가막살나무; 부게꽃나무와 참회나무 등의 수종들간에는 높은 정의 상관관계를, 사스래나무와 당단풍; 신갈나무와 미역줄나무; 철쭉꽃과 미역줄나무; 까치박달과 당단풍 등의 수종들간에는 비교적 높은 부의 상관관계를 보였다. 본 저사지의 종다양도는 2.1352~2.8016로서 비교적 높게 나타났다.

백두대간 도로사면의 생태적 녹화를 위한 자생수종 선정 (Native Plants Selection for Ecological Replantation in Roadside Cutting-slpoe of the Baekdu Range)

  • This study was carried out to select proper species for early stage replantation in cutting-slope area of the Baekdu Range roadside. In the cutting-slope area and upper forest area of the cutting-slope area, sample plots of 104 were selected and their vegetations and environmental factors were investigated. We found total 151 species in the 104 plots. The species of high frequency of Baekdu Range roadside were found in the order of Lespedeza bicolor, Festuca arundinacea, Eragrostis curvula, Pinus densiflora, Salix hulteni, Lespedeza cuneata, Erigeron annuus, Rubus crataegifolius, Spodiopogon sibiricus, etc. The dominancy of Festuca arundinacea, Eragrostis curvula, Lespedeza bicolor, Pinus densiflora, Salix hulteni, Spodiopogon sibiricus, Miscanthus sinensis, Lespedeza maximowiczii, Acer ginnala were 12.74%, 10.43%, 7.48%, 4.42%, 4.09%, 3.13%, 2.49%, 2.45%, 2.40% in the roadside cutting-slope, respectively. The importance value of Quercus mongolica, Lindera obtusiloba, Rhododendron mucronulatum, Lespedeza maximowiczii, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, Lespedeza bicolor, Quercus serrata, Rhus trichocarpa were 17.32%, 13.82%, 11.60%, 11.31%, 8.76%, 8.04%, 7.65%, 7.10% in shrub layer of the upper forest area, respectively. The species of Carex lanceolata, Spodiopogon sibiricus, Carex siderosticta, Miscanthus sinensis, Artemisia sp., Potentilla fragarioides var. major, Astilbe chinensis var. davidii, Chrysanthemum zawadskii var. latilobum, Aster scaber, Lysimachia clethroides, Patrinia villosa, Lindera obtusiloba, Rhododendron mucronulatum, Rhododendron schlippenbachii, Rhus trichocarpa, Stephanandra incisa, Zanthoxylum schinifolium, Lespedeza sp., Lespedeza cuneata, Amorpha fruticosa, Ligustrum obtusifolium, and Weigela subsessilis, may be more helpful in stabilizing of the cutting-slope area and making harmony with the surrounding forest area.
