  • RFID is issued as a core technology for Ubiquitous environment recently. Especially, Mobile RFID which is converged with RFID and wireless internet, provides new services to users, increased added-value to service providers. For commercial service of Mobile RFID, it needs an accounting service. The Diameter Base Protocol, mostly used for authentication, authorization, and accounting service, supports only deferred accounting service. For more variable accounting policy, Diameter Credit-Control Application which is capable of prepayment accounting, also should be considered. In this paper, a new accounting model with Diameter Credit-Control Application for Mobile RFID service is proposed.

  • We proposed a goods load simulator for optimum RFID distribution, which includes experiment process modeling guidelines for stable RFID scan rate, efficient cost-reduction of RFID application or even speedy management of RFID field. We show verification of this simulator using field test of distribution, and the proposed simulator has better performance than the classic method, and demonstrate the proposed is efficient method of draw up guidelines on RFID distribution.

  • Recently, various studies regarding introduction of RFID have been implemented in many industries including logistics field. The objective of this study are (i) to analyze an economical effect due to the introduction of RFID on ULS(Unit Load System) Pallet, (ii) to develop a model to estimate cost of RFID introduction, and (iii) to establish a foundation for activating introduction of RFID to the logistics field in order to increase efficiency. This study utilized data regarding fifty logistics companies' awareness of RFID usage. The result of the economical analysis showed B/C of 2.766 and NPV of 2.6 billion won, which implies significant benefit to the logistics industry. This study is meaningful in that it is the first study to quantitatively estimate the effect of RFID introduction on ULS pallet in Korea.

  • Radio frequencies used by the logistics of RFID in various areas, including research the core of ubiquitous computing. Moreover, RFID and the convergence of mobile terminals RFID research started as a B2B service area, B2C services and the expansion of the zone. B2B2C to in order to provide services ranging from mobile terminals for RFID technology development is needed. We develop middleware for a mobile RFID terminal. It consists of multi-code recognition module, the reader control module, the module code interpretation, and Dispatcher module. We present the implementation of these functions on an emulator.

  • As ubiquitous computing is evolving, RFID/USN technology is largely applied to various fields. Although there has been much research on the improvement of educational environment using RFID/USN technology, there has been little research on the learning improvement using it. So, in this paper, we used RFID/USN technology to find out the location and situation of students for Chinese situation learning system. We developed a mobile RFID middleware for Chinese situation learning system reflecting Chinese characteristics compared with English on PDA. In USN environment, we designed a USN system, which gets the situation information through a sensor network with sensors and sends them for helping learners study in situation learning. We took a pilot test to a small group for the analysis of the system.

  • In this paper, we suggest postal RFID adaptation model and system architecture which can be used for real time trace and track of parcel processing and pallet management. This paper also shows postal RFID application system testbed based on the proposed postal RFID application model and architecture, and shows recognition performance of tag on parcel and pallet by speed and mounting tag material such as thin cans, water bottles, and paper using implemented postal RFID system to find the best solution for RFID adaptation in postal logistics environment. In the experiment, we can know recognition performance of paper and aluminium foil is better than water bottles and thin cans.

  • We are moving into the era of ubiquitous computing. Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) is a base of such computing paradigm, where recognizing the identification and the position of objects is important. For the object identification, RFID tags are commonly used. For the object positioning, use of sensors such as laser and ultrasonic scanners is popular. Recently, there have been a few attempts to apply RFID technology in robot localization by replacing the sensors with RFID readers to achieve simpler and unified USN settings. However, RFID does not provide enough sensing accuracy for some USN applications such as robot navigation, mainly because of its inaccuracy in distance measurements. In this paper, we describe our approach on achieving accurate navigation using RFID. We solely rely on RFID mechanism for the localization by providing coordinate information through RFID tag installed floors. With the accurate positional information stored in the RFID tag, we complement coordinate errors accumulated during the wheel based robot navigation. We especially focus on how to distribute RFID tags (tag pattern) and how many to place (tag granularity) on the RFID tag-floor. To determine efficient tag granularities and tag patterns, we developed a simulation program. We define the error in navigation and use it to compare the effectiveness of the navigation. We analyze the simulation results to determine the efficient granularities and tag arrangement patterns that can improve the effectiveness of RFID navigation in general.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) will be used for recognizing things and offering distinctive information in Ubiquitous environment. But we are not ready to provide security service to RFID. Therefore we propose the approach of safe RFID system which provides the solution for eavesdrop, forgery, and modification based on Pre-Distribution protocol and RC5 security algorithm. First We distributes the secret key to the Tag with the Reader that is major subject on RFID system using Pre-Distribution protocol. Then we will provide to various security services and privacy protection using RC5 security algorithm. The proposed safe RFID system simulated on ATmega128 evaluate environment.
