Determination of Work Schedule Type by Dynamic Programming (동적계획모형을 이용한 근무형태 결정)

  • In this paper we applied dynamic programming to determining work schedule type. In dynamic programming formulation, each day during a planning horizon represents a stage for which a decision is made. The alternatives are given by work schedule types that combine regular time, overtime, additional shift, and so on. In this case, their associated return function is labor cost. The state is defined as the amount of work time allocated to stage 1, stage 2,…, and current stage. A case study for a real manufacturing company was performed to apply dynamic programming to scheduling daily work hours during a week. The case study showed that total cost of our solution derived from dynamic programming decreased by about 6% as compared with the solution obtained from the previous method.

  • The existing safety-management manual is confined to list data based on regulations, and only provide ways to prevent accidents/incidents for particular work which accidents occur frequently. As it is difficult to understand the complete process involved the work, we can not expect the manual to function as a guide to prevent unfortunate events. When establishing WBS(work breakdown structure) of railway line engineering, consideration of the characteristics of train operation will enable many benefits. Therefore in this research it is conducted to materialize it in the manual. Main contents in this research are to review the way that change complete work performance process and person in charge of different tasks into WBS(work breakdown structure), and trough the newly developed WBS , the ways to improve roles and functions of the manual which Korean Railroad made are recommended.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the concept of home-based work, introduce the activities of American home economists on home-based work and propose the tasks of family resource management for home-based work. Home-based works is defined as the work which generates income at home and classified 3 types: home-based business, employed home-based work and homework. The activities of American scholars are reviewed focusing on the Coorperative Regional Research Project, NE-167, entitled "At-Home Income Generation: Impact on Management, Productivity and Stability in Rural/Urban Families"and the participants of the project. Finally the tasks of family resource management are pursued in terms of research, education and service.d service.

  • In this paper an attempt is tried to answer the following questions : What does ergonomics have to do with work satisfaction\ulcorner Is there more satisfaction when ergonomics have applied in the design of work\ulcorner Is ergonomics important for work satisfaction\ulcorner This paper is started by defining the concept of satisfaction and ergonomics which is still at a comparatively early stage of development, and the effect of this in practice is that the majority of ergonomics assignments involve research. And then there discussions difficult theories of motivation and satisfaction such as Maslow' theory and Horzberg's theory. And in this paper I'll try to formulate the logical consequences of those theories for the relation between ergonomics and satisfaction. Finally I'll conclude with some ideas about the significance of ergonomics satisfaction. The level of satisfaction experienced with one's work is a complete function of the degree to which different values connected with work and with its concomitant results are attained, the opportunities perceived for the attainment of these values, the relative advantages and disadvantages of the work situation compared with that of other people, and personality and cultural determinants. As for ergonomics, the ergonomist's comprehension will need in future to encompass more of the emotional, attitudinal and motivational facts of working people. Ergonomically - designed work will not produce high degrees of satisfaction, but absence of ergonomics in design will be connected with some dissatisfaction. So this paper suggest s that ergonomics has some significance for work satisfaction and that social Psychological efforts to enhance work satisfaction cannot easily succeed without taking into account human-factors principles.

  • This study aimed to create globally acceptable Hanbok-inspired work uniforms, by developing practical designs and providing useful resources for incorporating Hanbok characteristics into office attire. First, to establish the elements that the Hanbok work uniform should have, the definition and characteristics of service clothes and preferences for the process of modernization of traditional Hanbok were reviewed through a review of the preceding studies. For the Hanbok work uniform design, a total of 4 pieces, 2 for each male and female, were planned, a schematic diagram was created, and the design was modified after evaluation by fashion design experts. I made a pattern of the modified design with a CAD program, imported it into CLO 3D to produce a virtual costume, and confirmed the final design draft. Work uniform design has symbolism, functionality, and aesthetics as its characteristics. The functionality of the Hanbok work uniform designed in this study is suitable for the season, and it was designed to increase the efficiency of work when worn for a long time. The design was focused on the development of materials and patterns in consideration of comfort and activity. The esthetic nature of hanbok-inspired work clothes was intended to reveal details that could highlight the silhouette of the human body and reflect the beauty of hanbok.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the trends of studies on work-related musculoskeletal disorder and to suggest the direction of future research.   • In the large scale projects, it is difficult to manage every blocks because of the apartment housing project have repetitive shapes and structures. Therefore, it is necessary to divide construction site into work zones and blocks considering site plan, the number of units per each floor, arrangement of blocks, etc. In this study, 20 influencing factors on the grouping of work zones and formwork crew team formation are identified through case study and literature review. Factors are analyzed to determine the degree of influence through experts interviews. A systematic process of crew formation based on work zoning and the considerations by each steps are presented.

  • There is urgent for defect consulting work to standardize the investigated method, repaired and reinforced method, and estimated cost about defect in increasing a defect lawsuit of apartment building. For the purpose of developing the standard process of defect consulting work, the review that a used process in law and institution should take precedence. There is not prepared the national standard for defect consulting but is dependent on an experience and a practice of consultants. This study analyzes defect consulting case, defines main steps for developing the standard process, and draws phased work factors. As systemizing this, it is expected to apply to basic structure for developing the standard process of defect consulting work for the next.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the trends and features of existing articles on work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD), and to suggest the direction for future work. Articles on WMSD were reviewed and analyzed by research objects and characteristics. This paper describes a number of issues related to strategies and practices which were done in order to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders; 1) trends and characteristics of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, 2) legal enforcement related to systems preventing WMSD, 3) workplace assessment methods and guidelines for manual material handling, 4) ergonomic intervention, ergonomics program and its effectiveness. A list of recommendations presented in this study can be used to provide a baseline for the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders.

  • Appropriate management of the finish works in construction project is one of most important activities that must be conducted considering the total duration of the project. Masonry work is a fundamental process that is performed in the preliminary steps of finish works. However, it has been investigated that the analysis of delay factors affecting masonry work has been neglected in the domestic construction site. Therefore, this study deducts delay factors affecting masonry work by literature review and survey on site engineers and labors. This study has been conducted as a preliminary step of developing a construction project interference management system which is expected to suggest objective information for the decision making in construction sites.
