Resolution-enhanced Reconstruction of 3D Object Using Depth-reversed Elemental Images for Partially Occluded Object Recognitionz

  • Computational integral imaging (CII) is a new method for 3D imaging and visualization. However, it suffers from seriously poor image quality of the reconstructed image as the reconstructed image plane increases. In this paper, to overcome this problem, we propose a CII method based on a smart pixel mapping (SPM) technique for partially occluded 3D object recognition, in which the object to be recognized is located at far distance from the lenslet array. In the SPM-based CII, the use of SPM moves a far 3D object toward the near lenslet array and then improves the image quality of the reconstructed image. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, we carry out some experiments for occluded objects and present the experimental results.

  • According to Scythian tradition, many burials contained numerous artifacts, from weapons and harness to everyday objects and a multiplicity of personal adornments. Most valuable of all is the Scythian Gold often lavishly decorated with precious stones. The detailed images on these pieces make it possible for us to picture the appearance of the Scythians, their clothes and weapons. Scythian Gold Plaques were attached to the fabric in such a way that when they moved with each movement of the wearer it created what must have been a dazzling sight in bright daylight. Scythian Gold Plaques were divided into several types according to the shape, animal style(curved beast shape, profile shape, head reversed over its back shape), round shape, quadrilateral form, star shape, flower shape, crescent shape, bundle shape, human appearance. Through the antique tombs bequests of Three Kingdom States hereby describe the original forms of their source of Baekje gold plaque were influenced by Scythe style. Like nearly all Scythian ornaments, such gold pieces were designed to maximize various magical powers and to signify the owner's importance relative to his fellow tribesmen.

골계미가 표현된 TV 코미디 의상 연구 - <개그콘서트>를 중심으로 - (The Comic Expressed Comedy Costume in TV - Focused on -)

  • Comedy costumes worn on the comedians/gag men express the information of the performances such as character's era, place, social rank, present environment, age, sex, occupation, emotion, relationships between the characters, importance and mood in visual language. The comic is found when these informations are reversed, revealed, exaggerated or distorted. To analyse the TV comedy costumes, 5 subordinate concepts of the comic which are Body, Gender, Age, T.P.O.(Time, Place, Occasion) and Role could be identified, and the results from the analysis focused on (10 shows were selected from each of the first and second half of the years from 2003 to 2007) are as follows: Distorted and ugly body implies the resistance against the ideal body. Reversed or confused sex are usually expressed as men dressed in women, and these mean breaking the dichotomy between male and female, and coexistence of the masculinity and feminity, and satirizing the social custom restricting women by moral rules. It could be recognized that the way of men's dressing in women have been changing keeping pace with the times. The discord between age and costume was often expressed with children's wear and childish props. This implies the liberation from the age role. The comic expressed from the inadequate costume for T.P.O. usually appeared with the costumes 20-30years behind the times. When there were discordance with the acts and acts expected from the outfit(appearance) also made an ironical laugh. The comics acquired by vulgarization and exaggeration of the characteristics of role(figures/occupation) were from the imitation and deformation of the objects in stereotypes, and through this dissolving the custom was under way.

건표고 자동 등급선별 시스템 개발 -시작 2호기- (Development of Automatic Grading and Sorting System for Dry Oak Mushrooms -2nd Prototype-)

  • In Korea and Japan, dried oak mushrooms are classified into 12 to 16 different categories based on its external visual quality. And grading used to be done manually by the human expert and is limited to the randomly sampled oak mushrooms. Visual features of dried oak mushrooms dominate its quality and are distributed over both sides of the gill and the cap. The 2nd prototype computer vision based automatic grading and sorting system for dried oak mushrooms was developed based on the 1st prototype. Sorting function was improved and overall system for grading was simplified to one stage grading instead of two stage grading by inspecting both front and back sides of mushrooms. Neuro-net based side(gill or cap) recognition algorithm of the fed mushroom was adopted. Grading was performed with both images of gill and cap using neural network. A real time simultaneous discharge algorithm, which is good for objects randomly fed individually and for multi-objects located along a series of discharge buckets, was developed and implemented to the controller and the performance was verified. Two hundreds samples chosen from 10 samples per 20 grade categories were used to verify the performance of each unit such as feeding, reversing, grading, and discharging unites. Test results showed that success rates of one-line feeding, reversing, grading, and discharging functions were 93%, 95%, 94%, and 99% respectively. The developed prototype revealed successful performance such as the approximate sorting capability of 3,600 mushrooms/hr per each line i.e. average 1sec/mushroom. Considering processing time of approximate 0.2 sec for grading, it was desired to reduce time to reverse a mushroom to acquire the reversed surface image.

주기적인 진폭격자들에 의한 Talbot 결상 및 가시도 분석 (Talbot imaging of periodic amplitude objects and its visibility)

  • 주기적인 진폭물체를 가간섭광인 레이저광으로 조명하였을 때 이 물체가 렌즈없이 회절에 의하여 결상되는 Talbot 결상을 회절이론으로 해석하고 물체의 상이 1:1로 결상되는 Talbot 거리(Zr)를 정의 하였다. 그리고 실험적으로 이 Z/sub T//2 위치에서는 위상에서는 위상이 반전되는 현상도 동시에 관찰하였다. 이러한 Talbot 결상시 주기적인 물체의 개수, 즉 격자의 수에 따라 Talbot 상의 가시도를 Talbot 상의 FFT(Fast Fourier Transform)로부터 측정하였으며 그 결과 적어도 15개 이상의 격자들로 구성되어야 가시도 0.25로 정상적인(stationary) Talbot 결상이 됨을 알 수 있었다.

Structurally Enhanced Correlation Tracking

  • In visual object tracking, Correlation Filter-based Tracking (CFT) systems have arouse recently to be the most accurate and efficient methods. The CFT's circularly shifts the larger search window to find most likely position of the target. The need of larger search window to cover both background and object make an algorithm sensitive to the background and the target occlusions. Further, the use of fixed-sized windows for training makes them incapable to handle scale variations during tracking. To address these problems, we propose two layer target representation in which both global and local appearances of the target is considered. Multiple local patches in the local layer provide robustness to the background changes and the target occlusion. The target representation is enhanced by employing additional reversed RGB channels to prevent the loss of black objects in background during tracking. The final target position is obtained by the adaptive weighted average of confidence maps from global and local layers. Furthermore, the target scale variation in tracking is handled by the statistical model, which is governed by adaptive constraints to ensure reliability and accuracy in scale estimation. The proposed structural enhancement is tested on VTBv1.0 benchmark for its accuracy and robustness.

차원의 인지와 한국어 차원 낱말의 추론 (Cognition and Inferences of the Dimensional Terms in Korean)

  • 한국어에서 '길다(길이)', '짧다'; '넓다(너비/폭)', '좁다'; '높다(높이)', '낮다'; '깊다(깊이)', '얕다'; '두껍다(두께)', '얇다' 혹은 '가로', '세로' 등의 어휘가 일반적으로 공간적 차원을 지칭하는 데에 사용된다. 본 논문에서 우리는 이들 어휘가 어떠한 인지적 토대에 근거하여 공간 개체의 차원 축을 지칭하게 되는가를 밝히고, 그 차원 낱말들 사이에 성립하는 추론 원리와 제약을 밝히고자 한다. 우선 Lang(1987)과 Lang et al.(1991)의 연구를 바탕으로 차원 개체를 8가지 유형으로 하위범주화하고, 각 범주 유형의 특징을 살펴본다. 차원 개체의 형태적 속성을 정의하는 본유적 구성 도식(inherent proportion schema)과 관찰자의 감각기관과 축의 관계를 일차적 인식 공간(primary perceptual space)으로 정의하고, 이 두 부분의 연계 관계를 개체 도식(object schema)을 이용하여 표상한다. 차원 추론이 가능한 경우는 항상 일차적 인식공간을 구성하는 차원 할당 값에서 본유적 구성도식을 구성하는 차원 할당 값으로 일정한 방향으로 일어난다는 점을 밝히고, 이를 바탕으로 모든 차원 추론에 적용되는 규칙을 두 개로 축약하여 제시하고자 한다. 또한 한국어에 특수하게 존재하는 '가로'와 '세로'가 차원 축을 지칭할 때 적용되는 제약을 형식화한다.

  • 장무이묘 명문전은 여러 가지 면에서 매우 낯설다. 첫째, 명문전이 백여 점에 육박할 정도로 많다. 둘째, 똑같은 명문이 다수 확인된다. 셋째, 소성 방식 등 제작 방식이 다양하다. 넷째, 명문이 찍힌 전돌의 형태가 일정하지 않다. 다섯째, 명문이나 문양이 찍힌 면과 아무 문양이 없는 면의 위치 및 명문의 상하 방향이 일정하지 않다. 여섯째, 명문의 대부분이 반서로 찍혀 있다. 일곱째, 명문전 표면에 흰색 석회가 칠해져 있다. 그러나 시야를 넓혀 중국 위진시기의 명문전과 비교하면 장무이묘의 명문전은 더 이상 낯선 물건이 아니라 동아시아의 문화를 총체적으로 이해할 수 있는 중요한 자료가 된다. 또한 명문을 문자로만 바라볼 것이 아니라 문자가 전돌에 압인된 하나의 기물로 이해하여 그것이 무덤 속 어디에 어떻게 위치해 있었는지를 주목하고, 이를 관람자의 시선에서 바라보아야 장무이묘의 명문전이 갖는 의미가 명확하게 드러나게 된다.
