Spectrum Sharing SDMA with Limited Feedback: Throughput Analysis

  • In the context of effective usage of a scarce spectrum resource, emerging wireless communication standards will demand spectrum sharing with existing systems as well as multiple access with higher spectral efficiency. We mathematically analyze the sum throughput of a spectrum sharing space-division multiple access (SDMA) system, which forms a transmit null in the direction of other coexisting systems while satisfying orthogonal beamforming constraints. For a large number of users N, the SDMA throughput scales as log N at high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) ((J-1) loglog N at normal SNR), where J is the number of transmit antennas. This indicates that multiplexing gain of the spectrum sharing SDMA is $\frac{J-1}{J}$ times less than that of the non-spectrum sharing SDMA only using orthogonal beamforming, whereas no loss in multiuser diversity gain. Although the spectrum sharing SDMA always has lower throughput compared to the non-spectrum sharing SDMA in the non-coexistence scenario, it offers an intriguing opportunity to reuse spectrum already allocated to other coexisting systems.

  • 디스크커터 내부부품의 손상과 관련된 원인은 씰(seal)부의 손상으로 인한 윤활유 부족, 토사 및 수분의 침투, 과부하, 과열, 조립문제, 소재문제 등이 있으며 손상 정도에 따라 디스크커터의 작동여부, 즉 회전이 가능한지가 나타난다. 따라서 디스크커터 회전문제에서의 핵심은 베어링의 작동여부라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 TBM의 굴착도구인 디스크커터의 재활용에 도움이 되고자 현장 적용된 디스크커터를 회수한 후 분해하여 내부부품을 조사하고 분석하였다. 그 결과, 허브의 부하영역에서의 스크래치는 재활용을 위해 가공작업이 필요한 것으로 나타났으며, 플로팅 씰의 래핑면과 오일상태는 재활용을 위한 성능파악에 필요한 시험으로 판단되었다. 특히 플로팅 씰은 베어링의 정상작동여부에 중요한 영향을 미치는 부품으로 파악되었다. 그 외의 베어링, 샤프트, 씰 리테이너에서는 특이사항이 없는 것으로 나타났다.

  • In the process of modermization the problem of environment destruction has become a worldwide issue. And now this problem is a concern for all branches of science, including that of architectural desigv. This thesis tries to find the meaning of ecological architectural space, one that encreases the organic relationship, and communication, between architectrual space and urban environmental space, between human beings and architecture, and between human beings and their environment. As an example, we will take a look at the architectural space-design of Frei Otto, who offers diverse creative ecological architectural forms. His concept of architecture has the critical character when compared with the traditionan conventional concept of architecture. The ecological characteristics of his architectural spacedesign can be summarized as follows: The first characteristic is his ample use of natural objects in the architectural structure. An ample use of living things like trees and plants as well as of inanimate thing like water, wind as architectural elements enhances the functional efficiency of architecture. The second characteristic is its ecological architectural system, which saves energy faciliates ventilation by changing the position and direction of the building, by systematically applying the materials, and by efficiently arranging the inner space. The third characteristic is the dematerialization of architecture and the use of materials that are economical and appropriate for the circulation system of nature. The use of natural elements and recycling natural objects, makes it possible to reuse materials of the destroyed building. In short, the ecological architecture of Frei Otto, which shows the relation between human beings and architecture, presents diverse possibilities of the archtectural space as a complex natural system, which is more than a simple combination of separatge elements.

미국 내 LEED 그린빌딩의 지속가능한 업무공간 사례 연구 - 실내 평가요소 중 재료 및 자원을 중심으로 - (Case Study on Sustainable office space of the LEED Green Building in the United States - Focused on the Materials and Resources of Indoor Evaluation Factors -)

  • (Background)In modern industrial society, the design industry failed to observe the law of nature, destructing it. Regardless its intention, the design industry destructed the environment so that it can't maintain the future life because of waste and disaster. For the purpose, it is important to adopt the technology to reuse the waste resource generated by building or minimize the damage to environment for the resource that can't be recycled. (Methods)On the assumption that the material and resource can be an alternative plan for the design that can make environment be sustained, the study analyzed materials and resources out of superior office space of USA, which were selected by LEED Green Building Rating System. (Results)The analysis result revealed that all cases reused main structural part of existing building and indoor and various materials were reused or recycled. Especially, the materials without or with low amount of VOCs and formaldehyde were used. In order to reduce construction waste, the finish of existing building was exposed as it was, 50% of reused materials were used or disassemblable materials were used. When regional materials are used, there is an advantage to reduce transportation cost and recycle the materials rapidly. Lastly, the environment-friendly certified by FSC was used in all cases. (Conclusion)After all, the material is one of the space design strategies sensitive to environment so it is important to select good material. Harmless, environment-friendly materials applied to sustainable office space contribute to the creation of healthy environment. In addition, the use of recycled materials and reused materials to minimize waste is also essential factor for creating sustainable space.

Design and Performance of an Automated Bioreactor for Cell Culture Experiments in a Microgravity Environment

  • In this paper, we describe the development of a bioreactor for a cell-culture experiment on the International Space Station (ISS). The bioreactor is an experimental device for culturing mouse muscle cells in a microgravity environment. The purpose of the experiment was to assess the impact of microgravity on the muscles to address the possibility of long-term human residence in space. After investigation of previously developed bioreactors, and analysis of the requirements for microgravity cell culture experiments, a bioreactor design is herein proposed that is able to automatically culture 32 samples simultaneously. This reactor design is capable of automatic control of temperature, humidity, and culture-medium injection rate; and satisfies the interface requirements of the ISS. Since bioreactors are vulnerable to cell contamination, the medium-circulation modules were designed to be a completely replaceable, in order to reuse the bioreactor after each experiment. The bioreactor control system is designed to circulate culture media to 32 culture chambers at a maximum speed of 1 ml/min, to maintain the temperature of the reactor at $36{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, and to keep the relative humidity of the reactor above 70%. Because bubbles in the culture media negatively affect cell culture, a de-bubbler unit was provided to eliminate such bubbles. A working model of the reactor was built according to the new design, to verify its performance, and was used to perform a cell culture experiment that confirmed the feasibility of this device.

  • SpaceX는 Falcon 9과 Falcon Heavy의 재사용을 통해 다양한 탑재중량 포트폴리오를 구성하고, 한 종류의 엔진을 사용하여 발사체를 구성하며, 케로신 엔진에서 메탄 엔진으로의 전환, 3D 프린팅 사용 등 다양한 전략을 보여주고 있다. 본 연구에서는 아리랑 위성에서 천리안 위성까지 다양한 탑재중량 및 궤도를 감당할 수 있는 발사체 안을 구성하였으며, 케로신 가스발생기 사이클 엔진, 케로신다단연소 사이클 엔진, 메탄 다단연소 사이클 엔진을 사용한 10가지 발사체 안에 대해서 검토하였다. 10가지 안 중 35톤급 메탄 엔진을 사용한 재사용 발사체가 개발 가능성 측면에서 좋은 안으로 평가되었다.

  • 최근 우주 기술이 발달함에 따라 전 세계적으로 위성 시장, 특히 소형 위성 시장이 크게 성장하고 있다. 이러한 위성 시장의 성장세 속에서 발사체 시장 역시 성장세를 보이고 있으며 이에 따라 저비용 발사에 대한 수요가 점점 증가하고 있다. 저비용 발사를 위한 방안에는 저비용 추진제를 사용하는 엔진 개발, 제품 생산 및 운송비용 절감 등 다양한 방법이 존재하지만, 발사 비용을 가장 크게 줄이는 방법은 바로 사용한 발사체를 다시 사용하는 것이다. 재사용 발사체의 시작은 유인 우주선으로 유명한 미국의 Space Shuttle이라 할 수 있다. 하지만 Space Shuttle의 경우 재사용이라고 불리기는 하지만 재사용 할 수 있는 부분이 한정되어 있고, 발사 효율이 떨어져 재사용 발사체 임에도 불구하고 상당히 고비용이었다. 최근에는 미국의 SpaceX와 Blue Origin을 중심으로 상업적 목적의 재사용 발사체가 개발 되고 있고 재착륙 시험에 성공하였다. 뿐만 아니라, SpaceX의 경우 이전 재착륙을 성공한 1단 발사체를 정비하여 다시 발사하는데 까지 성공하기도 하였다. 이러한 추세에 따라 유럽, 인도와 같은 국가에서도 현재 재사용 발사체 연구에 심혈을 기울이고 있다. 그리고 Blue Origin을 포함한 미국의 Virgin Galactic, XCOR 등은 민간 유인 우주여행과 같은 재사용 기술을 이용한 상품화도 시도하고 있다. 재사용 기술이 확립되면 세계 발사체 시장의 판도가 바뀔 수 있기에 재사용 기술 동향의 정기적인 확인은 필수적이라 할 수 있다.

Rapid Design Method and System Development for Aircraft Wing Structure

  • This work is mainly done by too many manual operations in the aircraft structure design process resulting in heavy workload, low efficiency and quality, non-standardized processes and procedures. A top-down associated design method employing the template parametric technology is proposed here in order to improve the quality of design and efficiency of aircraft wing structure at the preliminary design stage. The appropriate parametric tool is chosen and the rapid design system of knowledge-driven aircraft wing structure is developed. First, a skeleton model of aircraft wing structure is rapidly built up through the template encapsulated design knowledge. Associated design is then introduced to realize the association between the typical structural part and skeleton model. Finally, the related elements are referenced from skeleton model, and a typical structural part reflecting an automatic response for design changes of the upstream skeleton model is quickly constructed within the template. The rapid design system proposed and developed in this paper is able to formalize the design standardization of aircraft wing structure and thus the rapid generation of different aircraft wing structure programs and achieve the structural design knowledge reuse as well.

유럽 우주비행체 시뮬레이터 연구개발 동향 (Trend of European Spacecraft Simulator Development)

  • 유럽의 우주비행체 시뮬레이터는 요구사항의 증가와 함께 우주비행체 개발 비용에서 높은 비율을 차지하여 개발 비용 절감과 개발 기간 단축의 압력에 직면하고 있다. 현재 유럽은 유럽우주국을 중심으로 다양한 우주프로젝트 경험을 이용하여 소프트웨어 자체의 재사용 연구뿐만 아니라 소프트웨어 요구사항, 설계 노하우, 개발방법론, 경험 등 우주 프로젝트 간의 광범위한 자원 재사용 연구를 활발히 진행하고 있다. 재사용 연구 결과는 시뮬레이션 모델의 표준 제정과 시뮬레이터 개발 프로세스의 효율성 증대로 나타나고 있으며 후속 프로젝트에 적용되어 효과를 입증하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 최근 유럽의 우주비행체 시뮬레이터의 연구동향 추세와 시뮬레이터 소프트웨어 개발 동향을 기술한다.

Social-Aware Collaborative Caching Based on User Preferences for D2D Content Sharing

  • With rapid growth of content demands, device-to-device (D2D) content sharing is exploited to effectively improve the service quality of users. Considering the limited storage space and various content demands of users, caching schemes are significant. However, most of them ignore the influence of the asynchronous content reuse and the selfishness of users. In this work, the user preferences are defined by exploiting the user-oriented content popularity and the current caching situation, and further, we propose the social-aware rate, which comprehensively reflects the achievable contents download rate affected by the social ties, the caching indicators, and the user preferences. Guided by this, we model the collaborative caching problem by making a trade-off between the redundancy of caching contents and the cache hit ratio, with the goal of maximizing the sum of social-aware rate over the constraint of limited storage space. Due to its intractability, it is computationally reduced to the maximization of a monotone submodular function, subject to a matroid constraint. Subsequently, two social-aware collaborative caching algorithms are designed by leveraging the standard and continuous greedy algorithms respectively, which are proved to achieve different approximation ratios in unequal polynomial-time. We present the simulation results to illustrate the performance of our schemes.
