  • We present and demonstrate a novel method of alternate-phase return-to-zero (RZ) signal generation and pulse-amplitude equalization simultaneously in a rational harmonic mode-locked fiber ring laser, using a dual-drive Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator. By adjusting the voltages applied to both arms of the modulator, the rational harmonic mode-locked pulse trains are equalized in their amplitudes. In addition to that, the amplitude-equalized pulse trains multiplying the repetition rate at ${\sim}10\;GHz$ have alternate $\pi$ phase difference between adjacent pulses. The alternate-phase RZ signal generated by the proposed method enhances transmission performance through the single-mode fiber (SMF) links without dispersion compensation.

  • Unlike actual vehicles, a vehicle driving simulator is limited in kinematic workspace and bounded on dynamic characteristics. So it is difficult to simulate dynamic motions of a multi-body vehicle model. In order to overcome these problems, a washout algorithm which controls the workspace of the simulator within the kinematic limitation is needed. However, a classical washout algorithm contains several problems such as generation of wrong sensation of motions by filters in tilt coordination, requirement of trial and error method in selecting the proper cut-off frequencies, difficulty in returning the simulator to its origin using only high pass filters and etc. This paper proposes a new tilt coordination method as an algorithm which gives more accurate sensations to drivers. In order to reduce time for returning the simulator to its origin, a new washout algorithm that the proposed algorithm selectively onset mode from high pass filters and return mode from error functions is proposed. As a result of this study, the results of the proposed algorithm are compared with the results of classical washout algorithm through the human perception models. Also, the performance of the suggested algorithm is evaluated by using human perception and sensibility of some drivers through experiments.

  • A vehicle driving simulator is a virtual reality device which makes a man feel as if he drove an actual vehicle. Unlike actual vehicles, the simulator has limited kinematical workspace and bounded dynamic characteristics. So it is difficult to simulate dynamic motions of a multi-body vehicle model. A New Broadband Microstrip-to-SIW Transition Using Parallel HMSIW

  • In this work, a new microstrip-to-substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) transition using the parallel half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW) is proposed. The proposed transition consists of three sections : a microstrip, parallel HMSIWs, and an SIW. By inserting the parallel HMSIWs section between the microstrip section and the SIW section, the proposed transition can improve the return loss characteristics of the near cut-off frequency because the HMSIWs section has a lower cut-off frequency than the SIW section (8.6 GHz). The lower cut-off frequency is achieved through gradual electromagnetic field mode changes for a low reflection. The measured return loss is less than 20 dB in the of 9.1~16.28 GHz freqeuncy range for the back-to-back transition. The measured insertion loss is within 1.6 dB for the back-to-back transition. The proposed transition is expected to play an important role in wideband SIW circuits fed by a microstrip.

  • In this paper, we studied on characteristic improvement of Balun-BPF using dual-mode ring resonators. The simulated Balun-BPF shows bandwidth of 150MHz at center frequency of 2.45GHz, 4-pole characteristic, return loss of 15dB and symmetrical out-put characteristic.

Theoretical Investigation of First-order and Second-order Polarization-mode Dispersion Tolerance on Various Modulation Formats in 40 Gb/s Transmission Systems with FEC Coding

  • We investigated the polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) tolerance for 40Gb/s non-return to zero (NRZ), duobinary NRZ, return to zero (RZ), carrier-suppressed RZ (CS-RZ), and duobinary-carrier-suppressed RZ (DCS-RZ) modulation formats with a forward error correction (FEC) coding. The power penalty has been calculated as a measure of the system performance due to PMD. After comparison of the PMD tolerance of various modulation formats, our results suggest that RZ signals have the best tolerance against the effect of first-order PMD only. The duobinary NRZ modulation format is most resilient to PMD when both first- and second-order PMD are considered. However, the duobinary NRZ modulation format is the most sensitive to the incident angle of the input signal to a fiber axis in the presence of first- and second-order PMD, leading to incident angle-dependent power penalty. The coding gain by FEC can cope with the power penalties induced by first- and second-order PMD up to a DGD value of 16ps.

관리상의 도메인간 이동시 AAA 기반의 핸드오버 성능향상 방안 (Optimized Route Optimization mode of MIPv6 between Domains Based on AAA)

  • IP 계층의 이동성 지원을 위한 기술인 Mobile IPv6이 상업망에 배치되면, 이동노드에 대한 인증, 권한부여 및 과금을 위한 AAA 서비스가 필요하게 된다. AAA와 Mobile IPv6은 서로 독립적으로 수행되는 프로토콜이다. 그래서 이 두 프로토콜을 연동시키는 방법들이 등장하게 되었다. 이러한 두 프로토콜의 연동 방법은 AAA 인증 요청 시에 이동노드와 홈에이전트 사이의 보안협약을 설립하게 할 수 있고, 이동성 지원을 위해 홈에이전트로의 바인딩 갱신 과정을 AAA 인증 요청과 동시에 수행하여 최적화할 수 있다. 하지만, Mobile IPv6의 Route Optimization 모드의 사용은 Return Routability 과정을 이용하기 때문에 여전히 많은 시그널 메시지의 사용과 지연시간을 야기하게 된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 Route Optimization 모드를 최적화 하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 Route Optimization 모드를 위해서 Return Routability 과정을 수행하지 않고, 홈에이전트가 AAA 인프라를 통하여 상대노드에게 이동노드에 대한 바인딩 갱신을 수행하도록 한다. 제안된 방법은 Return Routability 과정을 수행하지 않으므로 시그널 메시지를 줄이고 핸드오버 지연시간을 단축시킬 수 있다. 제안된 방법의 성능평가를 위해서, 핸드오버 지연시간을 기존의 AAA와 Mobile IPv6 연동 방법들과 제안한 방법을 비교 분석하였으며, 기존 방법과 비교하여 제안하는 방법은 핸드오버 지연시간은 평균적으로 61% 단축시킬 수 있다.

고효율 전력 증폭기를 위한 재구성성이 있는 전력 분배기 (A Reconfigurable Power Divider for High Efficiency Power Amplifiers)

  • 본 논문에서는 저출력에서의 효율을 높이기 위한 전력 증폭기 시스템과 이 시스템에 필요한 재구성성이 있는 전력 분배기를 제안한다. 저출력에서의 효율을 높이게 되면, 무선 통신용 선형 전력 증폭기의 평균 효율을 높일 수 있다. 제안한 전력 분배기는 출력의 크기에 따라 고출력 모드와 저출력 모드로 동작한다. 각 모드에서 신호의 경로가 재구성되고 임피던스 정합도 이루어진다. 이러한 재구성성이 있는 전력 분배기는 두 개의 $\lambda/4$ 결합 선로(coupled line)와 두 개의 스위치로 구성된다. 제작된 전력 분배기는 중심주파수 0.9 GHz에서 고출력 모드일 때 반사손실($S_{11}$)과 삽입손실($S_{21}$)이 각각 -16.49 dB와 -0.83 dB, 저출력 모드일 때 반사 손실($S_{11}$)과 삽입손실($S_{31}$)이 각각 -16.28 dB와 -0.73 dB였다. 이 결과를 통해 각 모드에서 신호의 경로가 재구성되며 임피던스 정합이 이루어지는 것을 확인하였다.

  • In some requirements of dc motor drive circuit applications are high quality output with generation of low internal conducted EMI. However the conventional dc motor drive circuits have been usually using unbalanced circuit which generates the high conducted EMI to the frame ground. This paper presents a balanced dc motor drive circuit which is effective way to reduce the common-mode noise. The circuit balancing is to make the noise pick up or occurring in both conductor lines, signal path and return path is equal in amplitude and opposite phase so that it will cancel out in the frame ground. The common-mode conducted noise reduction of this proposed dc motor drive is confirmed by experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 X밴드용 고출력 시스템에 적합한 경사진 원형 도파관 구조를 이용한 소형 T $M_{01}$-T $E_{11}$ 모드 변환기를 제안한다. 제안된 모드 변환기는 마이크로파 에너지가 RBWO 전원으로부터 혼 안테나로 효율적으로 전송되도록 파라미터 연구를 통해 최적화된 구조로 설계되었다. 그리고 반사손실, 각 모드의 전력, 임피던스 대역폭, 그리고 모드 패턴의 시뮬레이션 결과와 측정결과를 제시하였다.다.
