  • Purpose: At a time when the distribution industry is dominated by capital and technology, win-win growth among businesses groups (BGs) in wholesale market is becoming a social issue. Therefore, through analysis of market growth, market concentration (MC) and market power (MP), we want to identify the structure of the wholesale market and the competitiveness of the BGs in terms of market share (MS), sales-profit ratio (SPR), and labor productivity (LP) to explore the possibility of win-win growth. Market situation: Wholesale and Retail sales ratio (W/S) continues to increase, which also means inefficiency in distribution channels or opportunities in wholesale markets. Wholesale sales have grown 8.3 percent annually over the past 15 years, while the number of companies and workers has declined since 2017, which is why some restructuring is believed to begin in the wholesale industry. In terms of MC and MP, the growth potential of SBG can be found in FCB, ARM, FBT and CME BTs. Methodology and data: Through ANOVA and Regression Analysis, the 2015 Economic Census Data of KOSTAT was analyzed. Results: The results of ANOVA show that statistically significant SBG has a larger MS than LBG. The SPR was not different among BGs. LP is higher for LBG than for other BGs. Regression results show that the employment weight (EW) and the company size (SC) have positive effects on the MS, but the company weight (CW) and employment size (SE) have negative effects. In the case of SPR, the CW is positive and the EW is negative. In addition, LP appears to be more positive as SC in the BGs is larger. Conclusions: Although there is sufficient potential for SBG in the wholesale market, there is a problem that needs to increase LP. Therefore, the SBG needs to restructure in terms of number of companies and SC to improve the efficiency of employment. In terms of MC and MP, the SBG looks for possibilities in FCB, ARM, FBT and CME BTs. In addition, SBG that seeks higher returns with human services rather than simple sales is found to be competitive in the HHG, MES and CME BTs.

  • Despite recent changes in life style, the content called bookstore has steadily stood by our side, changing its shape. In this environment, This manuscript is a quantitatively empirical study that individual innovation affects a combined bookstore's service design factors and the user's intention to word of mouth. Researchers believed that individual innovation would affect a combined bookstore's service design factors. It was also assumed that there would be considerable causality between the combined bookstore's service design factors deduced through prior study. Furthermore, the assumption that these parameters would affect internal variables, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness and satisfaction, word of mouth intentions was presented, and verified using An Integrated Model of Extended Technology Acceptance Model and Post Acceptance Model. Researchers expect that this research will contribute significantly in that it is a developer's approach to the combined bookstore that are seen as major tenants in large retail facilities.

  • The concept of data warehousing was born in the 1970-80s at the same time when Wal-Mart's growing database gave birth to its need to view records in a more effective way. As the world's largest retail warehouse, Wal-Mart represents the world's largest data warehouse. A large portion of the discussionaround Wal-Mart's database management heretofore has only been process-centric, however, not its data per se. The study largely involves technical concepts around database and takes a deep look at Wal-Mart's chronicle of pre-implementation (preparation), implementation, and post-implementation (evaluation) of the data warehousing project. The highlight underlies how Wal-Mart acted against solving endless problems and was able to gear their data management to business contribution. By revisiting their data warehousing project case from a current point of view, we expect their lessons to be still available and applicable. With the renewed interest in (big) data and business intelligence, Wal-Mart's high respect for data and technology holds a lot more meaning than a couple of decades ago.

  • In recent years, many retail businesses jumped on the Internet auction bandwagon and paid substantially high fees to learn and develop proper business strategies for this new environment. Unlike what most businesses in the real world presume, this research shows that discriminatory-price ascending-bid auctions in a digital economy might be not very beneficial for the sellers on the Internet, if sellers sell the identical digital products through both a typical posted-price market and an auction. Using an extensive technology infrastructure along with suitable incentives and rules for market agents, we found that a discriminatory-price ascending-bid auction, which is the most popular auction mechanism on the Internet, serves consumers better than it does the sellers or producers in the digital economy. That is, the average prices for digital goods in these auctions are substantially lower than the prices in a posted-price market. This shows that it is not so wise for sellers to jump on the bandwagon of Internet auctions, if there is a market place with posted-price mechanisms which sells comparable items, or if a seller does not have special advantages or strategies in this new market institution. Electronic market mechanisms provide powerful means of understanding and measuring consumer characteristics including willingness-to-pay and other demographics for sellers or producers. Many concern that sellers may extract the entire surplus from the market by using customization on the Internet, thus consumers will be worse off in this digital economy. We found that these sellers who can customize their products and prices fail to capture the whole consumers surplus and cannot exercise a monopoly. One major explanation for this phenomenon is that the competition among the sellers prohibits them from charging prices according to customers demand for each product, where switching from one seller to another is not so difficult for the customers, and reselling products among the buyers are prohibited.

  • The objectives of this study were to determine the chemical composition of persimmon pickles and microorganisms associated with the manufacture of persimmon pickles. Moisture content was 80.04% and sugar content was 13.72%, but crude ash content was 4.26% which meant some of sodium chloride in soaking solution were permeated into fresh persimmon. Soluble tannin and total vitamin C contents were decreased from 635.45 mg% and 34.53 mg% to 81.04 mg% and 23.76 mg%, respectively. Free sugars contained in persimmon pickles were glucose, fructose and sucrose, 17 kinds of free amino acids were detected including glutamic acid (24.97 mg%), aspartic acid (24.02 mg%) and leucine (22.33 mg%). Microorganisms asociated with the manufacture of persimmon pickles were identified as Bacillus subtilis, B. cereus, B. pumilus, B. thuringiensis, Candida glabrata, C. guilliermondi and Hansenula cnomala, especially C. glabrata was the strain which caused the swelling of vacuum packages of persimmon pickles in retail stores.

  • The propose of this study was to investigate the status of current nutrition labeling on the packaging of processed foods. The 2432 processed foods purchased at various retail markets in Jeonju and Daegu during June, 2004, were classified by food category according to the 2004 Food Codes and evaluated for the type of nutrition composition labeling and nutritional content claims. The results are summarized as follows: The percentage of processed food products with nutrition labeling was $27.5\%$ and $71.6\%$ of noodles had nutrition composition labeling, which was the largest number among the food category. Various unit of measurements were used in the nutrition labeling of the processed foods, per 100g or 100ml being the most common($51.8\%$) under the currently practiced nutrition labeling. Nutrition claims were made for $9.5\%$ (231 items) of the products. Drinks bad the largest number of nutrition claims of $27.3\%$ The most frequently used technology was 'contained' among the claims ($36.0\%$) and 'added' was the next ($30.7\%$). 'High in calcium' or the equivalent was the most popular nutritional claim Other nutrients for which content claims were made included: lipid, vitamin C, DHA, camitine, taurine etc.
