  • One approach to testing the suitability of an adhesive joint for a particular application is to build and test to destruction a representativc, sample of the joini. The noncdestructive test will not measure strength directly but will measure a parameter which can be correlated to strength. It is thercforc, essential that a suitable nondestructive rest is chosen and that its results are correctly intcrpreted. In this paper, typical Ultrasonic Signal Analysis in adhesive joints are cvaluatcci together with Interface Stress from the result of Finite Elenlent Method.

Evaluation of Structural Capacity for Concrete Beams Reinforced Simultaneously with GFRP and Steel rebar (GFRP와 철근 보강근으로 복합 휨보강된 보 시험체의 구조성능 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate structural performance of concrete beam reinforced simultaneously with GFRP and steel rebar. Because the GFRP has lower elastic modulus than steel or CFRP, serviceability for concrete structure can be an issue. According to the test result, the hybrid reinforced specimen showed better stiffness improvement than the specimen reinforced with only GFRP rebar. From an additional research on design parameter and reliability analysis, the field adaptability can be proved.

  • When we analize many amount of patterns, it is necessary for these patterns are to be clustering into several groups according to a certain evaluation function. This process, in case that there are lots of input patterns, needs a considerable amount of computations and is reqired parallel algorithm for these. To solve this problem, this paper propose parallel clustering algorithm which parallelized k-means algorithm and implemented it under the MIMD parallel computer based message passing. The result is through the experiment and performance analysis, that this parallel algorithm is appropriate in case these are many input patterns.

Improvement for practical application of Risk Assessment in shipbuilding industry (조선업 위험성평가 실용을 위한 개선 방안)

  • Subcontracting business than the contracting business in shipbuilding industry is a lot of hazardous job and highly accident because of highly work intensity. In order to prevent the accidents, there is a need to analyze characteristic. of shipbuilding, to apply measures of risk assessment. In this paper, I suggested an improvement of the risk assessment through the actual condition research in shipbuilding industry. In the research method, I analysed accidents occurred until 2011-2013. Carried out the actual site survey while two weeks in May 2014. As a result, 1) The main pattern were caught-in or between, fall on the high level according to analyzed accidents. 2) To apply the weight show clear of magnitude for risk assessment. 3) Risk estimation of risk assessment is desirable to be quantization by accidents analysis, and to be greater than or equal to 4 steps.

  • Many suggestions is offered to resolve global warming. Tidal current generation is producing power by switched tidal difference sea water horizontal fluid flow produced by tidal difference using rotor and generator. So, change the angle of inflow condition due to the entrance of efficiency are considered. We therefore investigated three dimensional flow analysis and performance evaluation using commercial ANSYS-CFX code for horizontal axis turbine. Then We also studied three dimensional flow characteristics of a rotating rotor and blade surface streamlines around a rotor. As a result, Cp was highest at TSR 5.5, especially the larger changes in the angle of inflow condition decreased efficiency.

  • In this paper, the applicability of PHC piles to replace Myanmar local piles were evaluated. In Myanmar, based on the size of the building, foundation design and field applications are carried out using bored pile and square pile. As a result of the analysis, the application of PHC pile is more economical than conventional bored pile or square pile which was applied in the high rise (17-story) and middle story (12-story) buildings. However, in the low - rise (8-story) building, the application of the existing square piles was found to be more economical than PHC pile.

  • Recently, the quality of residential space is emphasized much more than ever. This is caused by various changes of social environment. Those users, i.e. the occupants, seemed very sensitive to any changes of their environment. Therefore many producers (construction companies) need to be concentrated on the occupant's needs, and try to apply those needs to their design of products(apartments). This study aims to design the POE(Post Occupancy Evaluation) categorization methodology with QFD application. Therefore QFD performed to produce much tailored occupant's needs as a transformation of technically processed value. For this purpose, categories were experimented for a pilot project of POE. As a result, it showed a possibility and need of accuracy and maturity for the design of POE in its categorization.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide a decision support method to a rational buyer, who wants to pay the least price for the product with the highest quality and service. We suggest a minimum efficiency game model and DEA game model to valuate many vendors whose qualifies of outputs are measured by percentage. Our results gave a decision maker (buyer) the upper bound and lower bound of the true efficiency score of a decision making unit (vendor) with respect to the benchmark (target) set by the buyer. As a result, a buyer can choose the best vendor in terms of his/her preference.

  • In spite of the methodology of evacuation process on vessels should be different comparing to the architecture on land, some have simulated the evacuations onboard ship with simulation tools which is developed only for the architecture.   • The various rib geometry of hybrid fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforcing bars were analyzed by finite element method. From the analysis result, two types of hybrid FRP reinforcing bars such as spiral and cross type with the same dimension of rib geometry were fabricated in this study. To evaluate the bond properties of them, direct pull-out test was performed. All testing procedures including specimens preparation, set-up of test equipments and measuring devices were made in accordance with the recommendations of CSA Standard S806-02. From the test results, it was found that cross type hybrid FRP reinforcing bars showed the highest bond strength than that of the others due to the higher relative rib area.
