Shear behaviour of thin-walled composite cold-formed steel/PE-ECC beams

  • The novel composite cold-formed steel (CFS)/engineered cementitious composites (ECC) beams have been recently presented. The new composite section exhibited superior structural performance as a flexural member, benefiting from the lightweight thin-walled CFS sections with improved buckling and torsional properties due to the restraints provided by thinlayered ECC. This paper investigated the shear performance of the new composite CFS/ECC section. Twenty-eight simply supported beams, with a shear span-to-depth ratio of 1.0, were assembled back-to-back and tested under a 3-point loading scheme. Bare CFS, composite CFS/ECC utilising ECC with Polyethylene fibres (PE-ECC), composite CFS/MOR, and CFS/HSC utilising high-strength mortar (MOR) and high-strength concrete (HSC) as replacements for PE-ECC were compared. Different failure modes were observed in tests: shear buckling modes in bare CFS sections, contact shear buckling modes in composite CFS/MOR and CFS/HSC sections, and shear yielding or block shear rupture in composite CFS/ECC sections. As a result, composite CFS/ECC sections showed up to 96.0% improvement in shear capacities over bare CFS, 28.0% improvement over composite CFS/MOR and 13.0% over composite CFS/HSC sections, although MOR and HSC were with higher compressive strength than PE-ECC. Finally, shear strength prediction formulae are proposed for the new composite sections after considering the contributions from the CFS and ECC components.

Predicting restraining effects in CFS channels: A machine learning approach

  • This paper aims to develop Machine Learning (ML) algorithms to predict the buckling resistance of cold-formed steel (CFS) channels with restrained flanges, widely used in typical CFS sheathed wall panels, and provide practical design tools for engineers. The effects of cross-sectional restraints were first evaluated on the elastic buckling behaviour of CFS channels subjected to pure axial compressive load or bending moment. Feedforward multi-layer Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) were then trained on different datasets comprising CFS channels with various dimensions and properties, plate thicknesses, and restraining conditions on one or two flanges, while the elastic distortional buckling resistance of the elements were determined according to the Finite Strip Method (FSM). To develop less biased networks and ensure that every observation from the original dataset has the chance of appearing in the training and test set, a K-fold cross-validation technique was implemented. In addition, the hyperparameters of the ANNs were tuned using a grid search technique to provide ANNs with optimum performances. The results demonstrated that the trained ANNs were able to predict the elastic distortional buckling resistance of CFS flange-restrained elements with an average accuracy of 99% in terms of coefficient of determination. The developed models were then used to propose a simple ANN-based design formula for the prediction of the elastic distortional buckling stress of CFS flange-restrained elements. Finally, the proposed formula was further evaluated on a separate set of unseen data to ensure its accuracy for practical applications.

  • Subject : Kim hong-kyung(金洪卿)'s view of eight extra meridians Object : Kim hong-kyung has not only deeply studied Saam acupuncture but also the function and characteristics of extra meridian at the same time. Especially, he has tried the study to connect yin yang wei qiao mai(陰陽維蹻脈) with Lee je-ma(李濟馬)'s four trigram constitution theory, therefore the author felt the need to make public the theory and started reserch on the theory. Method : I researched the physiological properties of extra meridians through the past eastern medical literature, I reported on the types of people to show well the properties of extra meridians gathering Kum-oh's verbal explanation when I had classes from him. Result : Kum-oh Kim hong-kyung defined meridians as passways of consciousness and feeling, he interpreted 12 meridians and extra meridians with the view of mind, which has very important meanings in the history of acupuncture in the point of first trial to interpret meridians from this view. He explained Ren mai(任脈) and Du mai(督脈) are meridians which show clearly properties of yin-yang to appear trusts of affirmation and distrusts of denial in the mind, as Ren(任) means entrusting and Du(督) means supervising in English. He explained Chong mai(衝脈) is the meridian representing impulsive man that has a meaning of impulse as being suggested the name of Chong mai, because Chong mai is borrowed from Foot shao yin kidney meridian(足少陰腎經). Dai mai(帶脈) is the meridian representing the characteristics of woman that has a meaning of binding as being suggested from the name of Dai mai which acts when people have something on their flank or they are pregnant, because Dai mai borrowed from Foot shao yang gall bladder meridian. He thought that four trigram divided from yin and yang is innate trigram, so Yang wei mai(陽維脈), Yin wei mai(陰維脈), Yang qiao mai(陽蹻脈), Yin qiao mai(陰蹻脈) among extra meridians have connections with Tai-yang ren(太陽人), Tai-yin ren(太陰人), Shao-yin ren(少陰人), Shao-yang ren(少陽人) of Four trigram constitution theory respectively which was created by Lee je-ma. He explained yang means opponents and wei(維) means binding. Yang wei mai is the meridian to be active when opponents bind or intervene in you, also the meridian is well active to the people who easily criticize others who are rude, to the people who well refuse restraints from organization. Because he explained yin means me and wei(維) means binding. Yin wei mai is the meridian to be active when I bind and intervene in opponents. He also state that the meridian is easily active to the people who have a tendency to gather people and make party apparatus by nature. He explained Yang qiao mai is the meridian to be active in the situation that people are waiting for others to bridge gap because yang means opponents and qiao(蹻) which has a meaning of standing on one's tiptoes means bridging gap between people. He also state the meridian is easily active to Shao yin ren who has a tendency to be passive, to easily settle down and not to move by nature. He explained Yin qiao mai is the meridian to be active in the situation that I bridge gap between me and others to make friends, because yin means me and qiao(蹻) which has a meaning of standing on one's tiptoes means bridging gap between me and others. He also state the meridian is easily active to Shao yang ren who is active in every business and who has remarkable ability to make friends. Conclusion : Kim hong-kyung stated the physiological properties of extra meridians as below. Ren mai is the meridian representing positive confidence which is easily active when people have a mind to trust others, Du mai is the meridian representing negative distrust which is easily active when people have doubts. Chong mai is the meridian representing the characteristics of man that has impulsive characteristics. Dai mai is the meridian representing the characteristics of woman to be easily active when she is pregnant. Yang wei mai has close connections with Tai-yang ren who has a tendency to refuse restraints from others and to criticize on opponent's remarks and behaviors that are wrong. Yin wei mai has close connections with Tai-yin ren, as the meridian is active in the situation that people enjoy restraining and intervening in others. Yang qiao mai has close connections with Shao yin ren, as the meridian is active to the people who are negative and passive by nature. Yin qiao mai has close connections with Shao yang yin who has a strong tendency to make friends easily by nature.

수입소비재(輸入消費財) 유통구조(流通構造)의 효율화(效率化) 방안(方案) (An Analysis of the Imported Consumer Goods Distribution Sector of Korea: From a Vertical Structure Viewpoint)

  • 80년대에 들어서 본격화된 개방정책(開放政策)의 결과 대부분의 소비재(消費財)가 수입가능품목(輸入可能品目)이 되었고 이에 따라 소비재(消費財)의 수입(輸入)은 급격한 증가추세를 보이고 있으며 이 추세는 당분간 지속될 것으로 전망된다. 본고(本稿)에서는 우리나라의 수입소비재(輸入消費財) 유통구조(流通構造)의 현황(現況)을 분석하고 가격상승 및 후생감소를 야기시키는 문제점을 파악하며 이의 개선방안(改善方案)을 모색해 보았다. 본고(本稿)에서는 기존의 연구와는 달리 수입소비재(輸入消費財) 유통구조(流通構造)를 국제시장(國際市場)-수입단계(輸入段階)-국내(國內) 도(都) 소매단계(小賣段階)의 수직적 구조로 파악하고 이 수직적 구조를 구성하는 각 수평단계의 산업조직 및 수평단계를 연결하는 수직적 관계를 중심으로 하여 가격결정과정과 문제점을 분석하였다. 수입소비재(輸入消費財) 유통구조(流通構造)의 수평단계는 상품(商品) 및 지역(地域)에 의해 차별화된 독점적 경쟁 시장으로 볼 수 있으며, 수평단계간에는 대리점계약(代理店契約)과 재판매가격유지(再販賣價格維持)의 수직적(垂直的) 통제(統制)(vertical restraints)가 흔히 사용되고 있다. 수입소비재(輸入消費財) 유통구조(流通構造)의 주요 문제점으로는 독과점적(獨寡占的) 수입(輸入)에 따른 수입상의 독과점력, 국내 메이커에 의한 동종상품 수입에 의한 경쟁제한, 유통업자간의 담합 및 이의 유지를 위한 재판매가격유지(再販賣價格維持)의 성행, 불확실성(不確實性)과 정보불균형(情報不均衡)을 지적할 수 있다. 이러한 문제점을 시정하여 수입소비재(輸入消費財) 및 경쟁국산상품(競爭國産商品)의 가격하락(價格下落)과 국산상품(國産商品)의 품질개선(品質改善)을 유도하기 위하여는 독과점적 수입계약과 국내메이커에 의한 동종상품의 수입에 대한 공정거래규제(公正去來規制)를 도입하여야 하며, 수입가격표시제의 확대실시 및 탄력적 운영을 통한 합리적(合理的) 정보제공(情報提供)이 필요하다고 판단된다. 수입소비재(輸入消費財)의 유통구조는 또한 국내(國內) 도(都) 소매업(小賣業)의 일반적인 문제점으로 지적되고 있는 규모의 영세성, 무자료거래의 성행, 근대적 대형유통업체(大型流通業體)의 부족의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이러한 문제점은 기본적으로 상가(商街)와 물류시설(物流施設)의 공급부족과 현행 부가가치세제(附加價値稅制)에 그 원인이 있다. 따라서 수입소비재 유통구조의 생산성을 향상시키고 경쟁을 촉진하기 위해서는 상업용 및 물류시설용 부동산의 공급확대유도(供給擴大誘導)와 부가가치세제(附加價値稅制)의 합리적 운영이 필요하다고 사료된다.

가계 재무건전성이 주택투자수요에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Financial Strength of Households on House Investment Demand)

  • Purpose - This study investigates the following two issues. First, we attempt to find the important determinants of housing investment and to identify their significance rank using survey panel data. Recently, the expansion of global uncertainty in the real estate market has directly and indirectly influenced the Korean housing market; households demonstrate a sensitive reaction to changes in that market. Therefore, this study aims to draw conclusions from understanding how the impact of financial strength of the household is related to house investment. Second, we attempt to verify the effectiveness of diverse indices of financial strength such as DTI, LTV, and PIR as measures to monitor the housing market. In the continuous housing market recession after the global crisis, the government places top priority on residence stability. However, the government still imposes forceful restraints on indices of financial strength. We believe this study verifies the utility of these regulations when used in the housing market. Research design, data, and methodology - The data source for this study is the "National Survey of Tax and Benefit" from 2007 (1st) to 2011 (5th) by the Korea Institute of Public Finance. Based on this survey data, we use panel data of 3,838 households that have been surveyed continuously for 5 years. We sort the base variables according to relevance of house investment criteria using the decision tree model (DTM), which is the standard decision-making model for data-mining techniques. The DTM method is known as a powerful methodology to identify contributory variables for predictive power. In addition, we analyze how important explanatory variables and the financial strength index of households affect housing investment with the binary logistic multi-regressive model. Based on the analyses, we conclude that the financial strength index has a significant role in house investment demand. Results - The results of this research are as follows: 1) The determinants of housing investment are age, consumption expenditures, income, total assets, rent deposit, housing price, habits satisfaction, housing scale, number of household members, and debt related to housing. 2) The impact power of these determinants has changed more or less annually due to economic situations and housing market conditions. The level of consumption expenditure and income are the main determinants before 2009; however, the determinants of housing investment changed to indices of the financial strength of households, i.e., DTI, LTV, and PIR, after 2009. 3) Most of all, since 2009, housing loans has been a more important variable than the level of consumption in making housing market decisions. Conclusions - The results of this research show that sound financing of households has a stronger effect on housing investment than reduced consumption expenditures. At the same time, the key indices that must be monitored by the government under economic emergency conditions differ from those requiring monitoring under normal market conditions; therefore, political indices to encourage and promote the housing market must be divided based on market conditions.

초고성능 시멘트 복합체의 초기 재령 구속 수축 및 인장 크리프 특성 (Characteristics of Early-Age Restrained Shrinkage and Tensile Creep of Ultra-High Performance Cementitious Composites (UHPCC))

  • 초고성능 시멘트 복합체(ultra-high-performance cementitious conposites, UHPCC)는 우수한 압축강도와 연성을 나타내기 때문에 구조 부재 적용 시 단면을 상당히 감소시키고, 낮은 물-결합재비와 고분말 혼화 재료의 사용으로 높은 수축 변형률이 발생하게 되어 거푸집 및 보강근 등의 구속에 의한 수축 균열의 발생 가능성이 크다. 그러므로 이 연구에서는 UHPCC의 수축을 저감시키기 위한 방법으로 팽창재와 수축 저감제를 조합하여 혼입하고 자유수축과 구속 수축 거동을 평가하여 적합성 여부를 산정하였다. 실험 결과 팽창재와 수축 저감제를 조합하여 혼입한 경우에 약 40~44%의 자유수축 저감 효과를 보였으며, 잔류 인장응력은 약 35%와 47% 감소하였다. 지속적인 구속 하중에 의한 인장 크리프의 발생으로 탄성 수축 응력의 약 61%, 64%가 이완되는 것으로 나타났으며, 따라서 구속 수축 거동을 평가할 때에는 반드시 크리프 효과를 고려해야 한다고 판단되었다. 구속도는 0.78~0.85로 나타났으며 팽창재와 수축 저감제의 혼입에 의한 영향은 미미하였고 콘크리트 링의 두께가 클수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 또한, UHPCC의 인장 크리프 변형률을 측정하고 재령에 따라 변하는 구속 하중을 적용한 4-매개 변수 크리프 예측 모델과 비교하였다.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the mechanical stress and displacement on the jaws during the simulated bilateral clenching task on the three-dimensional finite element model of the dentated skull with unilateral molar loss. For this study, the computed tomography(G.E.8800 Quick, USA) was used to scan the total length of human skull in the frontal plane at 2.0mm intervals. The fully assembled finite element model consists of the articular disc, maxilla, mandible, teeth, periodontal ligament and cranium. The FE model was used to simulate the bilateral clenching in intercuspal position. The loading condition was the force of the masseter muscle exerted on the mandible as reported by Korioth et al. degrees of freedom of the zygomatic region where the masseter muscle is attached were fixed as restraints. In order to reflect the actual action of the muscles force, the displacement of the region was attached where the muscle is connected to the temporal bone and restraint conditions were given values identical to values at the attachment region of the masticatory muscle but with the opposite direction of the reaction from when the muscle force is acted on the mandible. Although the mandible generally has higher displacement and von Mises stress than the maxilla, its mandibular corpus on the molar-loss side has a higher stress and displacement than the molar-presence side. Because the displacement and von Mises Stress was the highest on the lateral surface of mandibular corpus with molar loss, the stress level of the condyle on the molar-loss side is greater than that of the molar-presence side, which in turn caused the symphysis of the mandible to bend. In conclusion, the unilateral posterior bite collapse with molar loss under para-functional activities such as bruxism and clenching can affect the stress concentration on the condyle and mandibular corpus. It is therefore necessary to consider the biomechanical function of dento-skeleton under masticatory force while designing the occlusal scheme of restoration on alveolar bone with the posterior collapse.

안드로이드 기반 무인항공 사진측량 시스템 개발 (Development of Android-Based Photogrammetric Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System)

  • 일반적으로 UAV를 이용한 항공촬영은 약 430 MHz 대역폭의 radio frequency (RF) 모뎀을 이용하여 UAV와 지상관제시스템간의 연결을 통해 UAV의 통제 및 원격 조종을 한다. 기존의 방법을 이용한 경우 1~2 km 정도의 통신 범위를 가지고 있으며 잦은 혼선이 일어나고, 무선통신은 전파를 매개로 정보를 전달하기 때문에 신호세기를 10 mW로 제한을 두고 있어 장거리 통신을 하는데 제약이 있었다. 본 연구에서는 스마트 카메라의 long-term evolution (LTE), 블루투스, WiFi와 같은 무선 데이터 통신 기술을 이용하여 데이터 송수신이 가능한 통신 모듈 시스템과 카메라를 이용하여 영상 획득이 필요한 지역에서 UAV에 영상을 획득하는 자동촬영 시스템을 설계하고 개발하는데 그 목적은 둔다. 본 연구에서 제안한 안드로이드 기반의 UAV 촬영 및 통신모듈시스템은 스마트 카메라 하나로 영상 획득뿐만 아니라 UAV 시스템과 지상관제 시스템을 연결해주며, UAV 시스템의 GPS와 자이로스코프, 가속도계, 자기 계측 센서 등의 센서로 부터 획득된 3차원 위치정보와 3차원 자세정보를 실시간으로 제공받을 수 있어서 항공삼각측량을 통한 UAV의 위치 및 보정 작업에 실시간으로 이용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

고강도강재 단주의 압축강도 및 잔류응력 평가 (Compressive Strength and Residual Stress Evaluation of Stub Columns Fabricated of High Strength Steel)

  • 본 연구에서는 인장강도 800MPa급 고강도강재(HSA800)의 단주 중심압축실험과 편심압축실험을 통해 균등압축과 휨-압축 부재의 강도를 평가하여 현행 강구조기준(KBC2009, AISC2005)의 적용성 여부를 검토하였다. 또한 잔류응력의 계측을 통하여 강재 항복강도와 잔류응력과의 상관성 여부도 검토하였다. 고강도강재와 일반강재의 국부좌굴 거동 차이의 여부를 확인하기 위하여 중심압축실험에 SM490 강재로 제작된 비교실험체도 포함시켰다. 강도로 무차원화한 판폭두께비와 판 단부의 지지조건을 주요변수로 하여 실험을 실시하였다. 편심압축실험은 HSA800 강재만을 대상으로 하였으며, 휨-압축의 조합력을 받는 부재의 P-M 상관관계를 알아보기 위해 가력 편심거리를 조정하여 다양한 P-M 조합에 대해 강도평가 실험을 수행하였다. 잔류응력은 중심압축실험에 사용된 H형단면 실험체를 대상으로 비파괴실험법인 압입법에 의해 가력 이전에 그 크기와 분포를 측정하였다. 실험결과 중심압축을 받는 모든 HSA800 단주는 판 단부의 지지조건 및 판폭두께비 조건에 따른 현행 강구조기준의 설계강도를 충분히 발휘하였다. 편심압축을 받는 실험체 역시 현행 설계기준의 P-M 상관관계를 충분히 안전측으로 충족하였다. 본 연구에서도 잔류응력의 크기는 강재의 항복강도와 무관하다는 선행연구결과와 합치하는 잔류응력 측정값이 얻어졌다.
