The valuable fossils are distributed in Korean peninsula. In consequence of the development of inland, many road constructions and other public works have been carried out. As a matter of course, lots of paleontological materials in Kyongsang basin were destroyed. Fortunately, one of them was rescued and restored in a suitable place by authors. A fine 4×5 m sandstone slab having about 40 dinosaur tracks was brought from Sangchon-ri, Jinju city, and restored at Danghangpo, Goseong County, Gyeongsangnam-do Province. This fossil bearing slab suggests dinosaurs' ecology and paleo-environment during the early Cretaceous Period of Kyongsang basin.

Ecological Engineering (EE) refers to all sustainable engineering that can reduce damage to ecosystems and that adopts ecology as a base and safety as an orientation in order to implement conservation of biodiversity and sustainable development. In short, EE attempts to safeguard the ecological environment while any essential construction projects proceed. EE encompasses many fields, including construction skills, ecosystem preservation, landscape, and even related cultures and so on. Such variety results in greater complexity of construction, and, consequently, indirectly increases the difficulty of construction quality control. The objective of our research is to explore a promising model for EE via an extensive literature survey. This model includes three principal stages: plan-design, construction, and maintenance, along with individual accompanying phases concerned with quality control and vital management. In this article, a river restoration example is adopted to describe in detail the critical points of quality control in the three stages (plan-design, construction, and maintenance) of the construction life cycle. This study proposes an integrated structure for quality management of EE to guarantee its quality and to enhance its core applications in order to achieve long-lasting preservation of the environment.

This study surveys and analyzes the ecology of Gangseo area to be developed near Nakdonggang River and West Nakdonggang River in Busan - before its development. With the result of the surveys as its basis, the study also finds ways to conserve the area's bird habitats in response to the planned development. According to the site surveys over four seasons, West Nakdonggang River which is near the targeted development area is a wintering ground for migratory birds. Some representative bird types in this area are ducks, geese, and other water birds. There are even six legally protected species. The average altitude of their flight is calculated to be $92.4{\pm}18.8m$ and the main purpose for the migration is determined to be for food. According to evalution of the conservation value of the area, Nakdonggang River and West Nakdonggang River turns out to have the highest conservation value. Other areas are developable as long as it was environmentally friendly. Therefore, this study suggests incorporation of ecological parks and biotopes within the targeted development area along with the proposal for spaces in the surroundings where the wintering birds can rest and feed. Especially for the wintering birds that rest at Nakdonggang River and West Nakdonggang River, their flight direction and pattern was examined to determine that their resting ground should be located 50~100m off of the river bank. Furthermore, this study proposes ways to maximize bird habitat by building ecological corridors between the agricultural channel and other small streams in the targeted development area and the habitats in the surroundings. Lastly, the study suggests the construction of low buildings, at most 20m in height, near Nakdonggang River and West Nakdonggang River considering the birds' flight altitude and direction.
Faecal analysis was carried out to identify the diet composition of Eptesicus serotinus after collecting the faeces from 25 female bats. Five bats were captured at a bridge where a colony of E. serotinous was found in Andong city, Gyeongbuk, every month from May to September 2014. A total of 100 faeces were collected and the parts of insects obtained from the faeces were examined using a high-resolution microscope (50 ${\times}$ binocular microscope) and then the orders of the insects were identified by the characteristics of the parts of the insect (mouthpart, leg, wing, antenna, elytra, etc.). According to the results of the faecal analysis, 4 orders: Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, Diptera and Hemiptera were used as food resource of E. serotinus. Coleoptera was found in May, July, August, and September. Interestingly, only Coleoptera were found in May and July. Hemiptera, Diptera, and Hymenoptera were found to be used as food resources in September, June, and August.
This study aims to present reference data necessary for developing evaluation indicators to analyze the actual resilience of purchased land by investigating the factors that affect the restoration of the purchased land in the riparian zone and quantitatively calculating its importance. The main results are as follows. Firstly, this study identified 34 potential resilience factors through a literature review encompassing domestic and overseas studies and derived seven ecological responsiveness factors, six physical responsiveness factors, and four managerial responsiveness factors through the Delphi survey. Secondly, reliability analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) analysis derived the following important factors: structural stability of the vegetation restored in the purchased land, species diversity of wildlife, structural stability of wildlife, the size of restored wetland after purchase, number of plant species, and the land cover status adjacent to the purchased land. The study results are expected to be helpful information for ecological restoration and management plans reflecting reinforcing factors for resilience at each stage of land purchase, restoration, and management.

Bats serve as vectors and natural reservoir hosts for various infectious viruses, bacteria, and fungi. These pathogens have also been detected in bat feces and can cause severe illnesses in hosts, other animals, and humans. Because pathogens can easily spread into the environment through bat feces, determining the bacterial communities in bat guano is crucial to mitigate potential disease transmission and outbreaks. This study primarily aimed to examine bacterial communities in the feces of insectivorous bats living in South Korea. Fecal samples were collected after capturing 84 individuals of four different bat species in two regions of South Korea, and the bacterial microbiota was assessed through next generation sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene. The results revealed that, with respect to the relative abundance at the phylum level, Myotis bombinus was dominated by Firmicutes (47.24%) and Proteobacteria (42.66%) whereas Miniopterus fuliginosus (82.78%), Rhinolophus ferrumequinum (63.46%), and Myotis macrodactylus (78.04%) were dominated by Proteobacteria. Alpha diversity analysis showed no difference in abundance between species and a significant difference (p < 0.05) between M. bombinus and M. fuliginosus. Beta-diversity analysis revealed that Clostridium, Asaia, and Enterobacteriaceae_g were clustered as major factors at the genus level using principal component analysis. Additionally, linear discriminant analysis effect size was conducted based on relative expression information to select bacterial markers for each bat species. Clostridium was relatively abundant in M. bombinus, whereas Mycoplasma_g10 was relatively abundant in R. ferrumequinum. Our results provide an overview of bat guano microbiota diversity and the significance of pathogenic taxa for humans and the environment, highlighting a better understanding of preventing emerging diseases. We anticipate that this research will yield bioinformatic data to advance our knowledge of overall microbial genetic diversity and clustering characteristics in insectivorous bat feces in South Korea.

The correct river discharge is a important item to keep a river role of using, controlling and ecology. Especially river role of ecology is very important for environmental development of river. In assesment of ecological flow, exact information of river life and topograph is very important. In this paper, the assesment of environmental flow is conducted using geo-spatial data of basin and river. The geo-spatial data is used as a important basic data in river restoration.
Many Japanese came to Kunsan city and built a lot of houses in Japanese style there in 1900's. Korean have lived in the house according to Japanese's leaving after restoration of independence. This study is purposed to describe remodeling of the houses by case study, through interview, survey and taking photographs. After Korean dwelling at the houses, there are lots of changes of facilities, interior materials and almost all of inside and outside of the houses. It was deduced that the reasons of the remodeling were likely to be different climate, life style between two peoples and economic power.
