  • This paper represents improved service restoration algorithm to deal with concurrent multiple outage areas. Restoration sequence is the most important to use backup feeders effectively. In order to decide restoration sequence, the algorithm calculates restorability of each outage area based on fuzzy evaluation of outage load and total backup feeder margin.

  • In case of failure in the IP network services should be provided via a backup path which fully meets QoS requirements. In this regard, we in this paper suggest simple-PFC(5-PFC) to restore single link failure, iterative-PFC(i-PFC) for multiple link failures, and fault_node Avoidance-PFC(a-PFC) for failures of nodes such as routers. Taking the minimum cost rerouting problem into account, we compare and analyze performance of those three mechanisms carrying out Direct_destination Rerouting(DR).

  • To secure a service continuity is one of the most important mission in the ower distribution system operation. In this paper the necessary and sufficient condition to guarantee 100% service restoration capability for any fault on the system is reported. An evaluation methodology of the restoration capability(or restorability) is developed based on the developed restoration conditions. Applications of the developed concept to the system operation in the normal and emergency states, that would enhance the supply reliability of the system are described. They include enhancement of restoration capability adapting to load change, identification of best open switch and supervised switch positions.

  • This study aims to identify the effect of both longitudinal reinforcement details and damage level on making a decision of repairing pre-damaged bridge columns using basalt fiber reinforced polymer (BFRP) jackets. Two RC bridge columns with improper details of the longitudinal and/or transverse reinforcement were tested under the effect of a constant axial load and increasing lateral cyclic loading. Test results showed that the lap-splice column exhibited an inferior performance where it showed rapid degradation of strength before achieving the theoretical strength and its deformation capacity was limited; however, quick restoration is possible through a suitable rehabilitation technique. On the other hand, expensive repair or even complete replacement could be the decision for the column with the confinement failure mode. After that, a rehabilitation technique using external BFRP jacket was adopted. Performance-based design details guaranteeing the enhancement in the inelastic performance of both damaged columns were addressed and defined. Test results of the repaired columns confirmed that both reparability and the required repairing time of damage structures are dependent on the reinforcement details at the plastic hinge zone. Furthermore, lap-splice of longitudinal reinforcement could be applied as a key design-tool controlling reparability and restorability of RC structures after massive actions.

  • Failures in ATM networks can occur at virtual path (VP) links, virtual path switches, and virtual channel (VC) switches. Restoration schemes have been proposed for VP link and VP switch failures, however, none for VC switch failures. In general, VC switches are used for edge nodes in protection domains. Since even only one VC switch failure can cause a critical problem, new restoration schemes for VC switch failures are highly required. Restoration schemes at the VP level proposed so far can be categorized into those using the flooding algorithm and those using the backup virtual path (BVP) concept. Even though the latter cannot handle unpredictable failures, it has some advantages such as fast restoration and low spare capacity requirement. In this paper, we propose new restoration schemes using a new type of BVPs to handle VC switch failures. The simulation results show that the proposed schemes can restore virtual connection failures due to VC switch failures without degrading restorability for VP failures.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an objective and rational methodology for the selection of proposed sites far the National Trust(NT), which is the new alterative proposal far the conservation of natural environments destroyed by injudicious land development and economic growth. That is to enforce many analysis for the effective estimation of rare ecological and landscape resources and to propose a model based on estimation and united indicators. Using the estimative model, we apply it to the selection of the proposed site in micro scale and simultaneously offer the basic methodology of effective and systematic land conservation in macro scale. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The results of analysis for the reliability of estimative items and indicators, presented no problem in that the coefficient of reliability was over 0.7. 2) The correlation measure of the estimative indicator indicated that 'succession'and 'regenerating restorability' were highly correlative in the item of plants. Another three items showed a tendency to be alike. 3) The results of factor analysis on the characteristics of indicators, classified plants into four categories including a stable factor. The item of animals was classified as a stable and rare factor. The item of landscape was classified as a physical and mental factor and the environment as a pollutional and conditional factor. 4) The model of estimation created through factor analysis was valid for the approval of the regression model because significant probability was 0.00. When we consider the NT proposed site as a complex body that is composed of diverse natural and manmade resources, certainly the synthetic methodology of estimation is needed. If these studies are carried out, NT sites will be selected more rationally and effectively than at present. Consequently, they have the potential to play a core role of natural ecosystem conservation in Korea.

  • ABS and PLA are applied for restoring missing part of damaged ceramics, but are not similar to the material of ceramics, so this study conducted a research on the properties and applicability of ceramic resin. This study conducted actual restoration of ABS and ceramic resin as well as cast restoration method with experiment of properties. Results show that manufacturing of restored part showed higher precision than existing materials, which enables printing of tiny shapes showing excellent surface texture and gloss than L30 and ABS resin. As a result of measuring properties, the material showed excellent durability than existing materials with no contraction and deformation and compressive strength, but value of specific gravity and hardness can lower processability after manufacturing. Long-term monitoring, evaluation of reliability of ceramic resin applied in this study, additional researches on the restorability of the original shape when printing too thin or long restored part are needed.
