  • This study had two major purposes: 1) to establish a quantitative measure of the overall restaurant attractiveness for each of the selected restaurants. 2) to examine the implications of the findings from the above concerning the operating initiatives necessary to improve the restaurant attractiveness. A multi attribute model was employed to obtain a numerical index of the attractiveness for each of the three fast food restaurants. It was found that certain of the attributes selected were clearly established as determinant variables(p<0.05). The research plotted the location of Attributes on a graph where the axes are the salience and importance scores to indicate approximate positions in four cells. Finally, the implications of these findings concering marketing and develpment initiatives to improve the perceptual attractiveness of the three fast food restaurant1.s are discussed.

  • This study surveyed the selection attributes and degree of satisfaction among Japanese restaurant customers by conducting frequency analysis on the data. Among all types of Japanese restaurants customers selected sushi bars the most (48.2%), and they considered taste (73.9%), price (34.8%), and service (22.2%) to be very important. When eating at Japanese restaurants, satisfaction differences among sanitation (p<0.05), price (p<0.05), and unique design (p<0.1) each had a significant difference with F values of 3.313, 3.208, and 2,702, respectively. factor analysis of the effect of selection attributes on Japanese restaurant performance revealed three factors; image, service, and food. Their combined satisfaction was 61.41%, and each of these three factors showed a Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value of 0.744, 0.739, and 0.623 in the reliability analysis, respectively, thus demonstrating the overall level of reliability. Multiple regression analysis showed that increased overall satisfaction of Japanese food was related to the satisfaction levels of food and service, and not to that of surrounding satisfaction.

All estimations were carried out using frequencies, $X^2$, independent samples t-test, phreg procedure of SAS package. The results are as follows. Some purchasing behavioral characteristics and importances of factors affecting pizza purchase were significantly different by gender. Based on the estimated models developed for male student group and female student group, the Chi-square statistics were significant at p<0.001. The parameter estimate for late delivery time with male student group was highest, and the parameter estimate for price with female student group was highest. The pizza restaurant that charged \20,000, offered 100% discount on eleventh pizza, promised to deliver pizza in 40 mins, usually delivered the pizza as promised time, offered only 1 type of pizza crust, delivered warm pizza, offered the money-back guarantee was favored by each of male student group and female student group.
