평균제곱오차를 이용한 크리깅 근사모델의 오차 평가 (An Error Assessment of the Kriging Based Approximation Model Using a Mean Square Error)

  • A Kriging model is a sort of approximation model and used as a deterministic model of a computationally expensive analysis or simulation. Although it has various advantages, it is difficult to assess the accuracy of the approximated model. It is generally known that a mean square error (MSE) obtained from the kriging model can't calculate statistically exact error bounds contrary to a response surface method, and a cross validation is mainly used. But the cross validation also has many uncertainties. Moreover, the cross validation can't be used when a maximum error is required in the given region. For solving this problem, we first proposed a modified mean square error which can consider relative errors. Using the modified mean square error, we developed the strategy of adding a new sample to the place that the MSE has the maximum when the MSE is used for the assessment of the kriging model. Finally, we offer guidelines for the use of the MSE which is obtained from the kriging model. Four test problems show that the proposed strategy is a proper method which can assess the accuracy of the kriging model. Based on the results of four test problems, a convergence coefficient of 0.01 is recommended for an exact function approximation.

Application of the Weak-Scatterer Hypothesis to the Wave-Body Interaction Problems

  • The present study concentrates on the weak-scatterer hypothesis for the nonlinear wave-body interaction problems. In this method, the free surface boundary conditions are linearized on the incoming wave profile and the exact body motion is applied. The considered problems are the diffraction problem near a circular cylinder and the ship response in oblique waves. The numerical method of solution is a Rankine panel method. The Rankine panel method of this study adopts the higher-order B spline basis function for the approximation of physical variables. A modified Euler scheme is applied for the time stepping, which has neutral stability. The computational result shows some nonlinear behaviors of disturbance waves and wave forces. Moreover, the ship response shows very close results to experimental data.

Soil interaction effects on sloshing response of the elevated tanks

  • The aim of this paper is to investigate how the soil-structure interaction affects sloshing response of the elevated tanks. For this purpose, the elevated tanks with two different types of supporting systems which are built on six different soil profiles are analyzed for both embedded and surface foundation cases. Thus, considering these six different profiles described in well-known earthquake codes as supporting medium, a series of transient analysis have been performed to assess the effect of both fluid sloshing and soil-structure interaction (SSI). Fluid-Elevated Tank-Soil/Foundation systems are modeled with the finite element (FE) technique. In these models fluid-structure interaction is taken into account by implementing Lagrangian fluid FE approximation into the general purpose structural analysis computer code ANSYS. A 3-D FE model with viscous boundary is used in the analyses of elevated tanks-soil/foundation interaction. Formed models are analyzed for embedment and no embedment cases. Finally results from analyses showed that the soil-structure interaction and the structural properties of supporting system for the elevated tanks affected the sloshing response of the fluid inside the vessel.

Resin Chock 교반기용 임펠러가 달린 축의 진동해석 (Vibration Analysis of Shaft with Impeller for Resin Chock Mixing Machine)

  • This paper deals with the dynamic characteristics of the shaft with impeller model which is the most important part in developing the resin mixing machine. Through reverse engineering, it is possible to make the shaft with impeller geometry model which is necessary vibration characteristic analysis by commercial impeller. The natural frequency analysis and structural analysis using finite element analysis software are performed on the imported commercial shaft with impeller model. The most important fundamental natural frequency of the shaft with impeller model is around 14.5 Hz, which well agrees with modal testing. The most effective design variables were extracted by ANOM(analysis of means) and pareto chart. This paper presents approximation 2nd order polynomial as design variables using RSM(response surface methodology). Generally, RSM take 2 or 3 design variables, but this method uses 5 design variables with table of mixed orthogonal array. Further more, the analyzed result of the commercial shaft with impeller is to be utilized for the structural design of resin chock mixing machine.

Synthetic Strategy and Optical Property Characterization of Complex Nanorods: Plasmon Wave Guide and Solar Cell

  • In this talk, we represent a novel approach to investigating intra-nanorod surface plasmon coupling with control over block compositions. The multi-component rod-like nanostructures, which consist of optically active components (Au and Ag) and optically less active component (for example, Ni) in UV-vis-NIR spectral window, showed interesting optical response depending on each block length and the total length of the structure. By controlling the composition and relative lengths of the blocks that comprise these structures, we can tailor the overall optical properties. Depending on the relative fraction of Au and Ag blocks, the intensity of the transverse modes varied without noticeable peak shifts. However, the strong intraparticle surface plasmon coupling resulted in the collective appearance of longitudinal LSP modes, including higher-order modes. The experimental observations were confirmed by theoretical calculation, using a discrete dipole approximation method. In addition, we will briefly discuss how single nanorod solar cells can be synthesized by using by using electrochemical deposition and AAO hard templates.

적층 파라미터를 활용한 복합재 팬 블레이드의 적층 패턴 최적설계 (Optimal Design of the Stacking Sequence on a Composite Fan Blade Using Lamination Parameter)

  • 본 논문에서는 복합재 팬 블레이드의 구조적 성능에 대한 근사 및 최적설계 기법을 제안하였다. 그리고 이들을 활용하여 복합재 팬 블레이드의 질량 및 형상의 변화 없이 강성을 최대화하기 위한 적층 패턴의 최적설계를 수행하였다. 이 때 설계 변수 및 설계 영역을 축소하기 위하여 적층 파라미터를 도입하였고, 적층 파라미터의 특성을 활용하여 높은 적합도를 갖는 반응표면 근사모델을 생성하였다. 또한 효율적인 최적해 탐색을 위해 도함수 기반 방법과 유전자 알고리즘을 결합한 2단계 최적화 방법을 적용하였으며, 다양한 요구조건들을 고려한 다목적 최적설계를 수행하였다. 마지막으로는 초기 모델과 최적설계 모델의 유한요소해석 결과를 비교하여 적층 파라미터 기반의 근사 및 최적설계 기법을 검증하였다.

근사함수를 이용한 스틸휠의 디스크 홀의 최적화 (Optimal Design of the Steel Wheel's Disc Hole Using Approximation Function)

  • 승용차의 휠은 타이어와 차체 무게를 지지하며, 회전력과 정지력을 노면으로 전달한다. 휠의 경량화는 차량의 연료효율에 효과적이므로, 스틸휠이 무게를 최소화하도록 디스크 홀이 형상을 최적화 하였다. 설계모델은 Pro/ENGINEER를 사용하여 설정하고, 설계모델의 해석은 ANSYS를 이용하였다. 범용 소프트웨어간의 직접적인 자료의 전달이 어려우므로 두 프로그램을 병합 사용하기 위해, 반응표면법을 이용한 근사함수를 구하였다. 5수준의 요인배치법의 실험값을 사용하여 최대응력과 최대 변위를 추출하였다. 초기 모델은 14인치 승용차용 스틸휠을 사용하였고, 디스크 홀의 폭을 설계변수로 선택하였다. 순차이차계획법과 활성화제약조건을 사용하는 PLBA(Pahenichny-Lim-Belegundu-Arora) 알고르즘을 이용하여 최적해를 구하였다.

시뮬레이션을 활용한 철도교통사업 비용 추산 및 의사결정 지원 방법 연구 (A Study on Railway Transportation Business Cost Estimation & Decision Supporting Methods using Simulation Data)

  • 철도교통사업의 계획 및 시행 가능 여부를 판단 하는 데 있어, 다양한 의사결정 과정이 필수적으로 요구되며, 그 결과로 총사업비, 운영비 등을 포함한 LCC(Life Cycle Cost) 값을 예측한다. 본 연구에서는 철도교통사업 의사결정 및 LCC 도출과정을 지원하기 위한 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 기반의 분석 방식을 제안한다. 먼저, 수치적 데이터 기반의 분석이 가능하도록 기존 다양한 철도교통사업 자료를 취합하여 Cost Analysis 모델을 구성하였으며, 실험계획법 및 반응표면법 기반의 근사모델링 기법을 통해 시뮬레이션을 수행, 결과를 도출하여 분석하였다. 모델 구성 및 시뮬레이션을 효과적으로 수행하기 위해 전문적인 상용 소프트웨어 도구를 사용하였다. 연구 결과 검증을 위해 실제 추진되고 있는 철도교통사업을 선정하여 분석결과를 비교하였고, 이를 각 분야 전문가 검증 과정을 거쳐 연구 성과의 신뢰성을 검토하였다.

응답면 기법을 이용한 구조 신뢰성 해석 (Structural Reliability Analysis via Response Surface Method)

  • 일반 구조물의 신뢰성 해석에서는 한계상태 방정식이 implicit한 이유로 추출법이나 확률 유한요소법이 주로 이용되나, 이들 방법은 여러번의 구조해석 결과가 필요하므로 시간과 노력이 크게 소요된다. 반면 응답면 기법은 적은 횟수의 구조해석 결과를 이용하여 implicit한 응답면을 관심있는 영역에서 근사하는 방법으로 일반 구조물의 신뢰성 해석에 효율적으로 이용할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 응답면 기법으로서 중심합성 계획법, Bucher-Bourgund법, 그리고 인공신경망에 의한 근사법을 이용하여 일반 구조물의 신뢰성 해석에 적용하고, 각 방법의 장단점을 비교하였다.

  • Shape optimization of an internal cooling passage with staggered dimples on single surface is performed and performances of surrogates are evaluated in this paper. Optimizations are performed so that turbulent heat transfer can be enhanced compromising with pressure loss due to friction. The three-dimensional governing differential equations have been solved to find the overall Nusselt number and friction factor which are related to the objective functions of this problem. Three design variables were selected among the dimensionless geometric variables. Basic surrogate models such as second order polynomial response surface approximation (RSA), Kriging meta-modeling technique, radial basis neural network (RBNN), and derived press based averaged (PBA) surrogate model are constructed. The optimal points are searched from the above constructed surrogates by sequential quadratic programming (SQP). It is shown that use of multiple surrogates can increase the robustness in prediction of better design with minimum computational cost.
