In this paper, the resonance response of spar-type floating platform in coupled heave and pitch motion is investigated using a CPU time-effective numerical method. A coupled nonlinear 2-DOF equation of motion is derived based on the potential wave theory and the rigid-body hydrodynamics. The transient responses are solved by the fourth-order Runge-Kutta (RK4) method and transformed to the frequency responses by the digital Fourier transform (DFT), and the first-order approximation of heave response is analytically derived. Through the numerical experiments, the theoretical derivation and the numerical formulation are verified from the comparison with the commercial software AQWA. And, the frequencies of resonance arising from the nonlinear coupling between heave and pitch motions are investigated and justified from the comparison with the analytically derived first-order approximation of heave response.

In this paper, a new fully digital control method for single-phase UPS inverter, which is based on the double control loop such as the outer voltage control loop and inner current control loop, is proposed. The inner current control loop is designed and implemented in the form of internal model control and takes the presence of computational time-delay into account. Therefore, this method provides an overshoot-free reference-to-output response. In the proposed scheme, the outer voltage control loop employing P controller with resonance model implemented by a DSP is introduced. The proposed resonance model has an infinite gain at resonant frequency, and it exhibits a function similar to an integrator for AC component. Thus the outer voltage control loop causes no steady state error as regard to both magnitude and phase. The effectiveness of the proposed control system has been demonstrated by the simulation and experimental results respectively.

A dynamic system identification technique based on the topology optimization method is developed. The specific problem in consideration is the damage location identification of a plate structure using the Frequency Response Function (FRF) of a damaged structure. In this work, the identification problem is formulated as a topology optimization problem. The importance of using anti-resonance information in addition to using resonance information is addressed. Though a simple problem was considered here, the possibility of using the topology optimization for damage identification is investigated lot the first time.

A modeling method for the modal and the transient vibration analysis of a multi-packet blade system excited by nozzle jet forces is presented in this paper. Blades are idealized as cantilever beams and the elastic structures like disc and shroud connecting blades are modeled as coupling stiffnesses. A modified Campbell diagram is proposed to identify true resonance frequencies of the multi-packet blade system. Different from the SAFE diagram that employs three dimensional space, the modified Campbell diagram proposed in this study employs a plane to find the true resonance frequencies. To verify the existence of true resonance frequencies, nozzle jet forces are modeled as periodic forces and transient vibration analysis were performed with the modeling method.
In this work, an improved semi-analytical technique is adopted to track the dynamic response of thin rectangular plates excited by sequential traveling masses. This technique exploits a so-called indirect definition of inertial interaction between the moving masses and the plate and leads to a reduction, in the equations of motion, of the number of time-varying coefficients linked to the changing position of the masses. By employing this optimized method, the resonance of the plate can be obtained according to a parametric study of relevant maximum dynamic amplification factor. For the case of evenly spaced, equal masses travelling along a straight line, the resonance velocity of the masses themselves is also approximately predicted via a fast methodology based on the fundamental frequency of the system only.

As the structure of the piezoelectric bimorph cantilever becomes increasingly more complicated, a more accurate and efficient analysis of piezoelectric media is needed. In this paper, the piezoelectric transducer is analyzed by using the three-dimensional finite element method. The validity of the three-dimensional finite element routine is confirmed by comparing the experimental result. The resonance characteristics, such as resonance frequency and anti-resonance frequency, of the piezoelectric cantilever are calculated by the experimentally verified three dimensional finite element method. Subsequently, the characteristics, such as mechanical displacement and impedance, are calculated at the resonance frequency. Besides, to design the piezoelectric bimorph cantilever shape that maximizes displacement at the tip, the ES (Evolution Strategy) algorithm is applied. Finally, optimal design for the fan of the piezoelectric cantilever is fulfilled to obtain maximum displacement at the tip. From these results, the application potentiality of the piezoelectric bimorph cantilever fan is identified.

Silicon nitride thin film (SiNx) was deposited onto the 3inch silicon wafer using an electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) plasma apparatus. The thin films which were deposited by changing the SiH4N2 gas flow rate ratio at 1.5mTorr without substrate heating were analyzed through the x-ray photo spectroscopy (XPS) and ellipsometer measurements, etc. Silicon nitride thin films prepared by the electron cyclotron resonance plasma chemical vapor deposition method at low substrate temperature (<10$0^{\circ}C$) exhibited excellent physical and electrical properties. The very uniform and good quality silicon nitride thin films were obtained. The characteristics of electron cyclotron resonance plasma were inferred from the analyzed results of the deposited films.

We propose a novel micro surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor system based on polymer materials. The proposed SPR system consists of the incident medium with polymer waveguide and the gold thin film for sensing area. Using a polymer optical waveguide instead of a prism in SPR sensing system offers miniaturization, low cost, and potable sensing capability. The whole device performance was analyzed using the finite-difference time domain method. The optimum gold thickness in the attenuated total reflection mirror of polymer waveguide is around 50 nm and the resonance angle to generate surface plasmon wave is 68 degrees.

The resonances that contain the information on the properties of the scattering target can be used for target reconstruction approaches. The inverse scattering theory for the resonances has been applied to the problems of the scattering for a spherical, cylindrical dielectric objects and dielectrically coated conductors, shown reasonable results. Though by using this method the thickness and the dielectric constants of the target can be obtained from a determination of the spacing and of the widths of the scattering resonances, the radius of the target should be given. In this paper, we suggest the improved inverse theory combined with the resonance scattering theory to obtain the radius in addition to the dielectric constant of the target. The applications of this method for scattering problems of electromagnetic waves from cylindrical targets were accomplished, and it shows its validity.
