  • A linear ultrasonic motor was designed by a combination of the longitudinal and bending mode. linear ultrasonic motors are based on an elliptical motion on the surface of elastic body, such as bar or plates. The corresponding eigen-mode of one resonance frequency can be excited twice at the same time with a phase shift of 90 degrees in space and time. That is excite symmetric and anti-symmetric modes. Then it determines the thrust and speed of the motor. Linear ultrasonic motors are investigated experimentally in according to be fabricated a general classification to motor structure and material characteristic. There was the first to simulate as use of finite element analysis ANSYS 9.0. The AL-T2W8-ARM14-LEG18-ANGLE80 motor has a maxim efficiency 18 % under the speed 0.14 m/s, thrust 345 gf and preload 280 gf, operating frequency is 57.6 kHz.

  • The pressure field for the Pekeris model which is consisted of a surface layer of fresh water overlying a thick (essentially semi-infinite) bottom layer of coarse sand is investigated experimentally in a anechoic tank scaled down 1/1,000. The water depth and frequency have been controlled so that the continuous mode integrand has not a resonance close to cut-off, and the experimental results relatively well agree with the theory which is represented as the sum of the discrete modes over a range about 10 times the water depth.

  • In this paper an Improved Zero Voltage Zero Current Pulse Width Modulation Forward converter which employs a simple resonance snubber circuit is introduced. A simple snubber circuit consists of a capacitor, an inductor and two diodes. In proposed converter, switch Q1 operates at ZCS turn-on, and ZVS turn-off conditions and all-passive semiconductor devices operate at ZVZCS turn-on and turn-off state. The proposed converter is analyzed and various operating modes of the ZVZCS-PWM forward converter are discussed. Analysis and design considerations are presented and the prototype experimental results of a 100w (40 V/2.5A) proposed converter operating at 30 KHz switching frequency confirm the validity of theoretical analysis.

  • In this paper the bending vibration analysis of stator for a ring type ultrasonic motor is described. Considering the electromechanical coupling effect, the concepts of generalized stress and strain are explained in detail using the generalized piezoelectric equations, which is the relationship between generalized stress and strain, the differential motion equation were derived. The vibration modes and resonance frequencies of the stator were calculated using the finite element code ATILA.

  • In this paper, we briefly introduce the test bench and test method of RWA micro-vibration. TAMAM RWA (Reaction Wheel Assembly) micro-vibration was measured on a KISTLER dynamic plate which can measure time signals of three orthogonal forces and torques simultaneously up to 400Hz, and test data was analyzed. Measured data were evaluated with respect to the wheel spin rate and the static/dynamic unbalances were estimated from the extracted first harmonic component. The estimated static and dynamic unbalances were 0.79gㆍcm and 17.4gㆍ$\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively. The resonance mode and two rocking modes were observed as a results of its frequency analysis. Several higher order harmonic components were observed, which comes from its rotor shape as well as the wheel bearing.

  • As an effective way of response evaluation in structural vibration analysis, the phase vector sum(PVS) method used in shaft torsional vibration analysis is introduced. Basic relation of PVS applicable to structural problem is derived and applied to Diesel engine structures. Concepts of forced phase vector sum (FPVS) and significance level (SL) are proposed to visualize the correlation between excitation orders and vibration modes in the SL map. The maximum responses and SL are compared and reviewed to confirm the validity of the method. It is regarded FPVS is adequate to newly evaluate the structural vibration based on excitation information.

  • Sound measurement experiments and Finite Element analysis are carried out to understand the characteristics of the noise propagation and structure of the compressor in this research. Noises generated from the compressor on various conditions are measured to classify the transmission path of the noise propagation with respect to the sources. The experiment results show that noises attributed to the shell bending resonant modes accounts fer a major portion of the spectra and that damping spring of the discharge pipe have a damping effect on some frequency range. Constructions of the FE model show that the curvature of the upper shell is very important for the resonance of the upper shell. And, present upper shell has a difficult shape to be manufactured. And, in this research, shape optimization is conducted to increase the strength of the shell for the reduction of the noise. Sound spectrum of noise from the modified compressor verified the sound reduction.

  • In this work. two dynamic absorbers are introduced and designed to reduce the vibration of the large-size pressure vessel of a reactor for a petrochemical plant. The vibration modes and harmonic responses of the vessel are firstly analyzed by the finite element method. On the basis of the analyzed results, two dynamic absorbers are designed by a simple design theory. Furthermore, an optimization process is executed and an optimal design of the dynamic absorber is obtained to improve performance and structural safety of the vessel. As a result, the maximum displacement and stress of the vessel is decreased about $85\%$ and $65\%$ respectively, the design criteria being satisfied.

  • Operation deflection shapes(ODS) is defined as a motion of structure at particular frequency. The ODS is eligible to show any types of structural motions while the modes supply solutions only to linear and stationary motion. The principal vibration source of an auto teller machine(ATM) case was occurred due to resonance which was found by modal analysis. To reduce the vibration of ATM case, the motion of the case was visualized using ODS analysis, which can suggest how to modify the structure. As a result the vibration of the ATM case was greatly reduced with a stiffening bar between the opposite plates.
