  • This paper Proposes a new method of on-line estimation for rotor resistance of the induction motor in the indirect vector controlled drive, using artificial neural network (ANN). The back propagation algorithm is used for training of the neural networks. The error between the desired state variable of an induction motor and actual state variable of a neural network model is back propagated to adjust the weight of a neural network model, so that the actual state variable tracks the desired value. The performance of rotor resistance estimator and torque and flux responses of drive, together with these estimators, are investigated variations rotor resistance from their nominal values. The rotor resistance are estimated analytically, using the proposed ANN in a vector controlled induction motor drive.

  • This paper estimates numerically cells the electrical characteristics of the PV module with environmental changes such as shunt resistance, series resistance, temperature, irradiance. Series resistance $R_s$ including diode characteristic resistance $r_d$ is derived from the p-n junction diode model. I-V characteristics of this model with series resistance $R_s$ are simulated on Matlab. Finally, theoretical I-V characteristics are compared with those of solar simulator. Those results agreed well within the manufacturer's maximum error range 3%

Bridge Resistance Deviation-to-Period Converter for Resistive Biosensors

  • A bridge resistance deviation-to-period (BRD-to-P) converter is presented for interfacing resistive biosensors. It consists of a linear operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) and a current-controlled oscillator (CCO) formed by a current-tunable Schmitt trigger and an integrator. The free running period of the converter is 1.824 ms when the bridge offset resistance is $1k{\Omega}$. The conversion sensitivity of the converter amounts to $3.814ms/{\Omega}$ over the resistance deviation range of $0-1.2{\Omega}$. The linearity error of the conversion characteristic is less than ${\pm}0.004%$.

  • Accurate estimation of motor parameters is required in some motor control applications. For example, the value of stator resistance is required for stator flux-oriented control mostly used in doubly fed induction generator systems. Stator resistance is not a constant value and continuously changes due to the rise in temperature during motor operation. Estimation errors degrade the control performance. Hence, this study proposes a simple stator resistance estimation method. In this scheme, the differential components of voltage and current values are used to eliminate the dead-time effect, and Kalman filter algorithm is applied to reduce the error according to measurement noise. Simulation and experimental results obtained with a permanent magnet motor show the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • In end milling process, the undeformed chip section area and cutting forces vary periodically with phase change of the tool. However the real undeformed chip section area deviates from the geometrically ideal one owing to cutter runout and tool shape error. In this study ,a method of estimating the real undeformed chip section area which reflects cutter runout and tool shape error was presented in up end milling process using measured cutting forces. Size effect was identified from the analysis of specific cutting resistance obtained by using the modified undeformed chip section area.

  • This paper presents the error factors of Fall-of-potential test method used in measurements of the grounding-system impedance. This test methods inherently can introduce two possible errors in the measurements of grounding-system impedance: (1) ground mutual resistance due to current flow through ground from the ground electrode to the current probe, (2) ac mutual coupling between the current test lead and the potential test lead. The errors of ground mutual resistances and ac mutual coupling are expressed by the equation in calculating grounding impedance. These equations were calculated by Matlab that is commercial tool using mathematical calculation. The results of calculation were applied to correct grounding impedance.

  • In this paper, a novel Programmable Signal Conditioner(PSC) for Thermo Couple(T/C) without variable-resistance is proposed. It is fabricated by using a fully digitalized error-correction and calibration algorithm. In signal processing of T/C, since the output voltage of T/C is nonlinear and its level is very low, the circuitry become very complicated to reduce the converting error and identify the true thermal voltage signal. The newly proposed PSC has compensation and calibration algorithm not using variable resistor. Moreover structure can be very simple and it has highly precise output characteristics.

  • In end milling process, the undeformed chip section area and cutting forces vary periodically with phase change of the tool. However, the real undeformed chip section area deviates from the geometrically ideal one owing to cutter runout and tool shape error. In this study, a method of estimating the real undeformed chip section area which reflects cutter runout and tool shape error was presented during down end-milling of Inconel 715 using measure cutting forces. Contrary to the up-end milling the value of radial specific cutting resistance, $K_r$, becomes larger as the helix angle increases from $30^{\circ}$ to $40^{\circ}$ and it shows almost same value at $50^{\circ}$ The value of tangential specific cutting resistance, $K_t$ becomes larger as the helix angle increases same as in up-end milling, the $KK_r$, and $K_t$ values show a tendency to decrease with increase of the modified chip section area and this tendency is distinct with helix angle $40^{\circ}$.

  • This paper proposes an adaptive sliding mode observer (SMO), which adds the estimation function of the stator resistance to a new sliding mode observer for the robust sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with variable parameters. To reduce the chattering problem commonly found in the conventional sliding mode observer where the low-pass filter and additional position compensation of the rotor are used, the sigmoid function is used for the control of a switching function in this research. With the estimation of the stator resistance, the proposed observer can improve the control performance by reducing the estimation error of the motor's speed. Note that the stator resistance is varying with the ambient temperature and becomes an error source for the sensorless control of PMSM. The new sliding mode observer has better efficiency than the conventional adaptive sliding mode observer by reducing the time consuming integral calculations. The stability of the proposed adaptive sliding mode observer is verified by the Lyapunov function in determining the observer gains, and the effectiveness of the observer is demonstrated by simulations and experiments.

모래지반에서 쐐기모델을 이용한 단말뚝의 극한수평저항력 산정 (Evaluation of Ultimate Lateral Resistance for Single Pile Using Strain Wedge Model in Sand)

  • 본 연구에서는 Strain wedge 해석모델을 이용하여 수평하중이 작용하는 단말뚝의 극한수평저항력 산정식을 제안하였다. 저항특성은 쐐기 후면부의 수평저항토압, 쐐기 측면부의 전단저항, 그리고 말뚝과 지반의 마찰저항으로 구분하였고, 이들의 합으로써 극한수평저항력을 산정하였다. 제안된 식을 기존의 쐐기 이론과 현장실험, 유한차분법과비교 분석하였다. 그 결과 제안식의 값이 기존의 쐐기 이론과 1.03%, 현장실험과는 0.40~3.32%, 유한차분법과는 6.02%의 차이를 보였다.
