  • Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) laminates made of nano-particle-coated carbon fibers and damaged by a simulated lightning strike were tested under compression-after-impact(CAI) mode, during which the damage progress due to compressive loading has been monitored by acoustic emission(AE). The impact damage was induced not by mechanical loading but by a simulated lightning strike. Conductive nano-particles were coated directly on the fibers, from which CFRP coupons were made. The coupon were subjected to the strikes with a high voltage/current impulse of 10~40 kA within a few ${\mu}s$. The effects of nano-particle coating and the degree of damage induced by the simulated lightning strikes on AE activities were examined, and the relationship between the compressive residual strength and AE behavior has been evaluated in terms of AE event counts and the onset of AE activity with the compressive loading. The degree of impact damage was also measured in terms of damage area by using ultrasonic C-scan images. The assessment during the CAI tests of damaged CFRP showed that AE monitoring appeared to be useful to differentiate the degree of damage hence the mechanical integrity of composite structures damaged by lightning strikes.

The used test equipment is application to KS(Korean Industrial Standard) C IEC 60112. The used samples is RCD(Residual Current Device) of tree companies. It is investigated carbonic electric conductive pass growth time and tracking growth form that contaminated insulators materials of RCD. As a result, carbonic electric conductive pass growth time and tracking growth form was different each companies. Track growth time of contaminated insulating materials was faster than non-contaminated.

  • This paper is studied about welding conditions and weldability of seam welding for galvanized steel sheet of automotive. The fuel tank of automobile is made by seam welding to be required of airtight or oiltight. This method have required a short time for welding, simplicity operation progress and little HAZ. Especially, it has more less residual stress and transformation than different welding progress. So, this study is for decreasing the leakage occurrence rate and to make standard operating condition table anyone can operate easily. Therefore, this study is analyzed the optimum conditions of seam welding for making the automobile with galvanized steel sheets by means of observing the microstructure and configuration back projection, RT, tensile-shear strengths test and SEM. Optimum conditions of seam welding obtained as follows, current 17.2-17.6kA speed 1.0m/min weld time 4:10:6 and current 16.5-17.4kA, speed 0.83m/min, weld time 4:10:4 at t1.0, and current, 18.5-18.9kA, speed 0.8m/min, weld time 4:10:4 and current 16.5-17.4kA, speed 0.68m/mi, weld time 4:10:2 at t1.6.

  • Floor Impact Noise is a structure-borne noise which is mainly caused by vibration of concrete slabs. The majority of previous studies have focused on investigating performance of absorbing sheets on the reduction of floor impact noise. But absorbing sheets do not efficiently reduce heavy-weight floor impact noise level because it cannot absorb slab vibration, which is the fundamental noise source. In this study, double-floor system was developed in order to reduce floor impact noise level in residual buildings. This floor system reduces heavy-weight impact noise level by reducing vibration response at the center of slab, which has maximum amplitude in the 1st vibration mode. In order to identify the performance of the double-floor system, experiments were planned. Primary test parameters are span of double floor, arrangement and types of absorbing sheets.

  • As the large Coolant amount used of a machine holds mass serious trouble recently, an environment pollution is increased, and a machine is conquering large specific gravity in an empty cost plane. It is the stage that must reexamine the parts washing that processing is later with this current way or a problem of a liquid waste treatment back. The environmental problems by using coolant demanded the new cooling methods. As one of them, the studies on the grinding with compressed cold air and oil mist have been done. The cooling method using compressed cold air was effective through going down the temperature of compressed air supplied below -$25^{\circ}C$ and increasing the amount of compressed cold air, but had not enough cooling effect due to the low performance of lubrication. Therefore, the cooling methods using oil mist newly were suggested. This method can satisfy both cooling effect and lubrication with only small amount of coolant, also have the benefit in the point of decreasing the environmental pollution. This paper focused on analyzing the grinding characteristics of the cooling method using oil mist. The grinding test according to compressed cold air and oil mist supply direction were done.

  • In the comparison result of residual strain calculated from the load-strain curve under the repeated loading cycles, it was found that the larger the laminates is, the larger the stiffness of GFRP pipes under fatigue load is. This phenomenon is true until the fatigue failure. According to the S-N curves drawn by the regression analysis on the fatigue test results, the fatigue strength for percentage of the static ultimate strength increases by increasing the laminates of GFRP pipes. The fatigue strength for 2, 000, 000 repeated loading cycles In GFRP pipes with the laminates varing 15, 25, 35 shows 75.2%, 79.5%, 84.2% on the static ultimate strength, respectively.

  • The aim of the work described in this paper was to confirm the application of the equation of the soil-water characteristic curves on an unsaturated soil. A series of suction test for unsaturated soils was conducted on the selected 4 kinds of soil using modified pressure extractor apparatus. And it was carried out to analyse The experimental parameters which can be describe the soil-water characteristics, were determined by using the data obtained from the experiment. From the results, it was found that The matric suction varied according to the grain size distribution, amount of fine grain particles and void ratio. Also it was found that the residual degree of saturation was decreased with in crease of the void ratio, but the pore size distribution index and air entry value were increased with in crease of the void ratio. And The application of the soil-water characteristic curve equation was confirmed for the various conditions and the various state by the comparison between the measured degree of saturation and the predicted degree of saturation.

  • Numerical analyses are carried out to evaluate the cumulative impact damage of an automotive front end bumper under the low speed crash events(CMVSS215) by using explicit code. Results of first impact simulation, which are deformed shape, thickness, stress tensors and strain tensors, are used as the initial conditions for a next impact simulation. Between the events, the residual vibration is damped out by using nodal damping, and then recovery after each event is evaluated by several methods, one of which is a springback analysis with implicite finite element analysis code. The coupled analysis scheme for the evaluation of cumulative impact damage is verified through the comparison with test results.

  • The I$_{c}$ degradation behavior of Bi-2223 tapes bent at RT and 77K were investigated using the bending device invented by Goldacker. Test results on fixing the tape at RT and 17K showed no difference. At 17K and RT bending, the critical strain was 0.67 and 0.50$\%$, respectively, for the VAM-l tape. For the AMSC tape, it was 0.94 and 0.88$\%$, respectively. These results show that there is additional residual stress in the superconducting filaments to be bent at 17K which shifts the formation of cracks into smaller bending radii. This was proved by computational analysis based on the mixture rule of composites. For the VAM-l tape, the Ie degradation behavior using the Goldacker type device shifted to higher strain levels at about 0.5$\%$, as compared with the FRP sample holders which have a critical bending strain of about 0.24$\%$. Also, for the externally reinforced AMSC tape, Ie degradation using the Goldacker type device begins at a higher strain level, at 0.88$\%$ as compared with using FRP sample holders, at 0.74$\%$. The difference between both cases can be explained by the tensile' and thermal stresses that the tapes were subjected to during fixing (soldering) when the FRP sample holders were used.

  • Recently speed control system of the towing carriage have been modified by applying a personal computer in the Ship Model Towing Tank of Seoul National University. With this system the carriage speed could be controled precisely in coincidently with a prescribed speed diagram to evaluate the effect of slight towing speed fluctuation caused by some residual current or standing waves which have believed as trivial phenomena in the towing tank. It is found that the slight speed fluctuation of the carriage could lead to serious error in measurement of resistance test of a ship.
