Analysis of a New Current-Fed DC-DC Converter with the Double Outputs (이중출력을 갖는 새로운 전류환류형 DC-DC 컨버터의 해석)

  • In this paper, we proposed a novel current-fed DC-DC converter with multi-output. It has two winding reactor in series with the input source of the converter. By using the 2nd winding recycling the energy stored in the reactor to the input, the double-outputs DC-DC converter can be created, which makes it a good choice for a multi-output power supply with more outputs and has savings in cost and space. The steady state and dynamic characteristics of the converter are analyzed in detail by using the state space averaging method. It is found that the maximum value of $V_{o2}$ exists in the 2nd output and also during the MOSFET off period, the energy stored in the magnetizing inductance is reset through auxiliary winding $N_3$, so the duty cycle is restricted to 50%. Theoretical and experimental results were taken from the converter rated at switching frequency 50kHz. input voltage 50V. output voltage 5V. 12V and output power 65W. As a result, both results were well consistent. Therefore, it is varified the validity of the proposed converter in this paper.

  • The voltage controlled ramp waveform(VCR) has recently been used in the reset period prior to addressing for plasma display. However, in this paper, the current controlled ramp waveform(CCR) which may prevent the oscillation of gap voltage cause current growth and decrease the background luminance has been suggested. As a result, in case of CCR method, the contrast ratio was about 14% increased compared with VCR method, whereas the addressing and sustainin discharge characteristics of CCR method were same with those of VCR method.

  • Recently, in power system, even though the needs of protective IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) is highly increased, there are some problems in the field when use the IED. When the IED is in the fluctuated overload condition, because of the existing algorithm calculate the trip time only with the measured current of just previous measuring stage, the calculated trip time is not a proper value for the overload protection at this kind of condition, and when the load current fluctuate between overload and normal condition, because of the instantaneous reset characteristic of existing algorithm the IED dose not trip. And the non linear loads using power electronic elements seem to be increased. These non linear loads require a counterplan about various harmonics incoming to electric power systems. So we will give solutions about these problems.

  • Low power consuming operation of phase-change random access memory (PRAM) can be achieved by confining the switching volume of phase change media into nanometer scale. Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) is one of the best materials for the phase change random access memory (PRAM) because the GST has two stable states, namely, high and low resistance values, which correspond to the amorphous and crystalline phases of GST, respectively. However, achieving the fast operation speed at lower current requires an alternative chalcogenide material to replace the GST and shrinking the dimension of programmable volume. In this paper, we have fabricated nanoscale contact area on Ge2Sb2Te5 thin films with trimming process. The GST material was fabricated by melt quenching method and the GST thin films were deposited with thickness of 100 nm by the electron beam evaporation system. As a result, the reset current can be safely scaled down by reducing the device contact area and we could confirmed the phase-change characteristics by applying voltage pulses.

  • This paper presents a Zero Voltage and Zero Current Switching (ZVZCS) 3-Level DC/DC converter. This converter overcomes the drawbacks presented by the conventional Zero Voltage Switching(ZVS) 3-Level converter, such as high circulating energy, severe parastic ringing on the rectifier diodes, and limited ZVS load range for the inner switches. The converter presented in this paper uses a phase shift control with a flying capacitor in the primary side to achieve ZVS for the outer switches. Additionally, the converter uses an energy recovery snubber to reset the primary current during the free-wheeling stage to achieve ZCS for the inner switches. The proposed converters are analyzed and verified on 6kW, 39kHz experimental prototype.

  • This paper presents an analysis method of a forward converter, using both the finite element method considering the external circuit and a state variables equation. The converter operates at 50kHz and its one period is divided into two modes for the simplicity of the analysis. In the first mode, the switching transistor turns on and an input power is transferred into the load by the electromagnetic conversion action of a ferrite transformer. In the second mode, the switching transistor turns off and the stored energy in an inductor is delivered to the load, and the transformer core is demagnetized by the reset winding current. In this paper, time-stepping finite element method taking into account the on-state electrical circuit of the converter in used to analyze both the electrical circuit and electromagnetic field of the magnetic device during the first mode and the demagnetization period of the transformer core. Then a state variables equation for the circuit which the inductor current flows is constituted and solved during the second mode. As a result, the simulation results have been good agreement with the results obtained form experiment.

  • In this paper, development of the 8kW parallel module converter is presented. For a effective configuration of FB-PWM converter, this paper proposes 4-parallel operation of 2 kw-module. FB converter of 2-kW module is controlled by phase shut PWM and in order to achieve ZVZCS, the simple auxiliary circuit is applied in secondary side. In order to achieve ZCS, control logic for auxiliary circuit operation is designed to reset the primary current during free-wheeling period. For output current sharing of 4-modules, the charge control is employed. The charge control logic is designed with phase shift PWM logic. Voltage controller is implemented by using DSP(TMS320LF2406) with A/D conversion data of the output current and voltage of each module. The developed converter is installed in PCU(Power Conditioning Unit) for HSG(High Speed Generator) in a vehicle and health monitoring system is implemented for vehicle operation test. Finally, performance of the developed converter is proved under practical operation of HSG.

A Novel Hybrid Converter with Wide Range of Soft-Switching and No Circulating Current for On-Board Chargers of Electric Vehicles

  • In this paper, a novel hybrid configuration combining a phase-shift full-bridge (PSFB) and a half-bridge resonant LLC converter is proposed for the On-Board Charger of Electric Vehicles (EVs). In the proposed converter, the PSFB converter shares the lagging-leg switches with half-bridge resonant converter to achieve the wide ZVS range for the switches and to improve the efficiency. The output voltage is modulated by the effective-duty-cycle of the PSFB converter. The proposed converter employs an active reset circuit composed of an active switch and a diode for the transformer which makes it possible to achieve zero circulating current and the soft switching characteristic of the primary switches and rectifier diodes regardless of the load, thereby making the converter highly efficient and eliminating the reverse recovery problem of the diodes. In addition an optimal power sharing strategy is proposed to meet the specification of the charger and to optimize the efficiency of the converter. The operation principle the proposed converter and design considerations for high efficiency are presented. A 6.6 kW prototype converter is fabricated and tested to evaluate its performance at different conditions. The peak efficiency achieved with the proposed converter is 97.7%.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of the stream current detector (SCD) and charge analyzing system (CAS), which are well known as the automatic coagulant dosage determination instruments. When the SCD system was used, the current charge value set at pH 9.3 could not be used as the coagulant dosage when the pH of the raw water decreased to 5.7, and the current charge value corresponding to pH 5.7 was required to be reset. In case of CAS system, polydadmac is stable as a cationic titrant when the pH of the raw water ranged 9.3 to 6.0. And it was effective to use polydadmac as a cationic titrant for high turbidity water. The current charge of polydadmac was almost constant between pH 5 and 11, however, the difference in charge of alum is six times in this pH range. Therefore, when the pH of the raw water was changed, it seems that the coagulant used in the actual water treatment plant was as a good cationic titrant.

THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE AKARI MID-INFRARED ALL-SKY DIFFUSE MAPS

  • We are creating all-sky diffuse maps from the AKARI mid-infrared survey data with the two photometric bands centered at wavelengths of 9 and $18{\mu}m$. The AKARI mid-infrared diffuse maps achieve higher spatial resolution and higher sensitivity than the IRAS maps. In particular, the $9{\mu}m$ data are unique resources as an all-sky tracer of the emission of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). However, the original data suffer many artifacts. Thus, we have been developing correction methods. Among them, we have recently improved correction methods for the non-linearity and the reset anomaly of the detector response. These corrections successfully reduce the artifact level down to $0.1MJy\;sr^{-1}$ on average, which is essential for discussion on faint extended emission (e.g., the Galactic PAH emission). We have also made progress in the subtraction of the scattered light caused in the camera optics. We plan to release the improved diffuse maps to the public within a year.
