Exploring automatic scoring of mathematical descriptive assessment using prompt engineering with the GPT-4 model: Focused on permutations and combinations (프롬프트 엔지니어링을 통한 GPT-4 모델의 수학 서술형 평가 자동 채점 탐색: 순열과 조합을 중심으로)

  • In this study, we explored the feasibility of automatically scoring descriptive assessment items using GPT-4 based ChatGPT by comparing and analyzing the scoring results between teachers and GPT-4 based ChatGPT. For this purpose, three descriptive items from the permutation and combination unit for first-year high school students were selected from the KICE (Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation) website. Items 1 and 2 had only one problem-solving strategy, while Item 3 had more than two strategies. Two teachers, each with over eight years of educational experience, graded answers from 204 students and compared these with the results from GPT-4 based ChatGPT. Various techniques such as Few-Shot-CoT, SC, structured, and Iteratively prompts were utilized to construct prompts for scoring, which were then inputted into GPT-4 based ChatGPT for scoring. The scoring results for Items 1 and 2 showed a strong correlation between the teachers' and GPT-4's scoring. For Item 3, which involved multiple problem-solving strategies, the student answers were first classified according to their strategies using prompts inputted into GPT-4 based ChatGPT. Following this classification, scoring prompts tailored to each type were applied and inputted into GPT-4 based ChatGPT for scoring, and these results also showed a strong correlation with the teachers' scoring. Through this, the potential for GPT-4 models utilizing prompt engineering to assist in teachers' scoring was confirmed, and the limitations of this study and directions for future research were presented.

A Study on the National Library's Collection Strategy and Utilization Plan through the Analysis of Online Material Collection Status of Major Libraries Abroad (해외 주요 도서관 온라인 자료 수집 현황 분석을 통한 국립중앙도서관의 수집 방향성 및 활용 방안 도출 연구)

  • This study aimed to present practical strategies for libraries in South Korea, including the National Central Library, to effectively respond to the new challenges of the digital era by systematically comparing and analyzing the status of online material collection and services of libraries both domestically and abroad. To achieve this, we sought to understand the cases and service status of online material collection in major foreign libraries and to derive directions and usage plans for our libraries based on the analysis of these foreign libraries' online material collection status. As a result of this research, it was found that the National Central Library needs to explore various strategies for expanding online material collection, including the proper collection and preservation of web resources that are being created and deleted, as well as expanding openness and utilizing archives. Secondly, as a central institution for future national information resources, it is necessary to establish a strategy for smoothly collecting, preserving, and servicing vast and complex web resources. Thirdly, there is a need to explore ways to implement a national-level web archive that can systematically collect, preserve, and utilize all web resources in our country. In the long term, it should be improved into a national platform capable of systematically collecting, preserving, and utilizing various types of web resources.

A Study of Wind Characteristics around Nuclear Power Plants Based on the Joint Distribution of the Wind Direction and Wind Speed

  • Given that toxic substances are diffused by the various movements of the atmosphere, it is very important to evaluate the risks associated with this phenomenon. When analyzing the behavioral characteristics of these atmospheric diffusion models, the main input data are the wind speed and wind direction among the meteorological data. In particular, it is known that a certain wind direction occurs in summer and winter in Korea under the influence of westerlies and monsoons. In this study, synoptic meteorological observation data provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration were analyzed from January 1, 2012 to the end of August of 2022 to understand the regional wind characteristics of nuclear power plants and surrounding areas. The selected target areas consisted of 16 weather stations around the Hanbit, Kori, Wolsong, Hanul, and Saeul nuclear power plants that are currently in operation. The analysis was based on the temperature, wind direction, and wind speed data at those locations. Average, maximum, minimum, median, and mode values were analyzed using long-term annual temperature, wind speed, and wind direction data. Correlation coefficient values were also analyzed to determine the linear relationships among the temperature, wind direction, and wind speed. Among the 16 districts, Uljin had the highest wind speed. The median wind speed values for each region were lower than the average wind speed values. For regions where the average wind speed exceeds the median wind speed, Yeongju, Gochang, Gyeongju, Yeonggwang, and Gimhae were calculated as 0.69 m s-1, 0.54m s-1, 0.45m s-1, 0.4m s-1, and 0.36m s-1, respectively. The average temperature in the 16 regions was 13.52 degrees Celsius; the median temperature was 14.31 degrees and the mode temperature was 20.69 degrees. The average regional temperature standard deviation was calculated and found to be 9.83 degrees. The maximum summer temperatures were 39.7, 39.5, and 39.3 in Yeongdeok, Pohang, and Yeongcheon, respectively. The wind directions and speeds in the 16 regions were plotted as a wind rose graph, and the characteristics of the wind direction and speed of each region were investigated. It was found that there is a dominant wind direction correlated with the topographical characteristics in each region. However, the linear relationship between the wind speed and direction by region varied from 0.53 to 0.07. Through this study, by evaluating meteorological observation data on a long-term synoptic scale of ten years, regional characteristics were found.

Performance Evaluation of System Support Assembled with Reused Members (재사용 가설기자재로 조립된 시스템 동바리의 성능 평가)

  • System support is a facility that is temporarily installed to support vertical loads at construction sites, and is assembled and installed by reused individual members. These characteristics are likely to lead to poor performance of installed system supports, and even though it is institutionalized to check structural safety at the their design phase, accidents continue to occur at the construction site. Accordingly, safety management of system support is implemented through various institutional methods, but the current system does not consider the performance degradation of temporary facilities due to the reuse of individual temporary members. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to verify the performance of assembled system support. In order to do achieve this purpose, the authors divided individual system supports into unused and used groups and performed compression performance test with defined models assembled with those two groups of system supports. The results of this study are expected to be meaningful as a research case that can quantitatively evaluate safety systems and standards for the performance of existing temporary facilities and suggest directions for improving the safety management system of temporary facilities in the future.

Performance Evaluation Criteria for the Sustainable Operation of Community Facilities in Urban Regeneration (도시재생 공동이용시설의 지속적인 운영을 위한 평가지표 제안)

  • Over the past decade, urban regeneration projects have been actively promoted nationwide in South Korea, leading to the establishment of numerous community facilities aimed at fostering community engagement and revitalization. Recently, the need for diagnostic tools to provide appropriate support and guidance for the sustainable operation of these facilities has been increasingly emphasized. However, a comprehensive manual or nationwide standard approach remains lacking. As such, this study aims to propose evaluation criteria and their application methods for the periodic operational assessment of those facilities. First, through a review of previous studies, candidate indicators were identified. After that, preliminary indicators and frameworks were determined through expert consultations, followed by surveys conducted with 65 experts to finalize the evaluation indicators. The survey results highlighted the importance of 'Value Creation (VC)' and 'Operation Management (OM)' as key aspects of facility evaluation. In assessing VC, key factors include enhancing community vitality, strengthening local capacity, providing tailored functions for the community, and contributing to the local economy. In constructing OM, the focus lies on operational system, financial management, operational personnel, and economic viability and sustainability. This study proposes an evaluation framework that includes the final evaluation indicators and available data sources for each indicator, and a pilot test was conducted to verify its applicability. Moreover, the study suggests directions for utilizing the evaluation criteria and methods for applying indicators tailored to the characteristics of individual facilities.

Seeking Alternative Directions in Confirmation Education for Korean Protestant Church (한국교회 견신례 교육의 대안적 방향에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose of study: The purpose of this essay is to seek an alternative direction for confirmation education within the context of Korean Protestant Church, addressing the following issues: 1) Confusion in the use of terminology on confirmation, 2) Superficial understanding of confirmation, and the absence or privatization of confirmation theology, 3) Formalized confirmation education based on the concept of rites of passage, and 4) The absence of denominationally structured confirmation education. Research content and method: To achieve this purpose, this essay attempts to foster an intradisciplinary and interactive dialogue on confirmation through a biblical, historical, and theological approach. Biblically, confirmation is to be understood as the unity of the baptism of water and the baptism of Holy Spirit, associated with the consecration of the baptized as royal priests through the baptism of Holy Spirit. Historically, as a part of the rite of Christian initiation, confirmation was a unified rite that has undergone a process of separation and reunification. Theologically, the rite of confirmation affirms the covenant of the Triune God given in baptism and is positioned between baptism and the Lord's Supper. Conclusions and Suggestions: In conclusion, this essay suggests an alternative form of Confirmation education that is oriented towards the following objectives: 1) Education that forms the identity given in the baptismal covenant, 2) Education that reflects characteristics of both baptism and the Lord's Supper, 3) Education that integrates the Bible, doctrine, and life of confirmand and, 4) Education based on an organic educational system.

Evaluation of the Applicability of Major Domestic and International Forest fire indices: A Case Study in the Eastern Region of the Taebaek Mountain Range (국내외 주요 산불위험지수의 국내 적용성 평가: 태백산맥 동쪽 지역을 대상으로)

  • In this study, we evaluate the applicability of domestic and international forest fire indices in Korea. To accomplish this objective, we first compare the structures of widely-used forest fire indices worldwide. Then, the application results of these forest fire indices are evaluated by comparing them with the annual and seasonal variations in actual forest fire occurrences in Korea. Finally, we select indices suitable for domestic application and propose directions to improve their appropriate applicabilities. The considered forest fire indices include MI, KBDI, FFWI, and mFFWI developed in the United States, NI, ZhI, and MNI developed in Russia, and DWI developed in Korea. This study considers the East Coast region as a study area, and the number of forest fire occurrences is referenced from the forestry statistics yearbook provided by the Korea Forest Service. As results, first, most forest fire indices do not adequately reproduce the actual annual forest fire occurrences as its variation is so small. However, most indices are found to effectively represent the monthly variations. Based on the correlation analysis between forest fire indices and actual forest fire occurrences, mFFWI, MI, ZhI, and DWI are selected as suitable indices for the East Coast region. However, these indices are still not satisfactory to adequately represent the forest fire occurrences in Korea, suggesting the need for further improvements. Each index has its own different aspects to be improved and, therefore, evaluation of these indices may be available only after further improvements are completed.

Production of Virtual Electrical Circuit Practice Education Contents based on Mixed Reality using Meta Quest Pro (메타 퀘스트 프로를 활용한 혼합현실 기반 가상 전기회로 실습교육 콘텐츠 제작)

  • Mixed reality(MR) technology combines the advantages of virtual reality(VR) and augmented reality(AR) technology, allowing MR users to interact with virtual objects against the background of the real world. In addition, since virtual objects interact with the real world, users can experience a higher immersion. This study proposes electric circuit practical training content using Meta Quest Pro to produce immersive MR content based on reality. To this end, first, the development process for producing MR content by linking Meta Quest Pro equipment with the Unity 3D engine is organized. Then, based on the traditional electric circuit practical training method used in elementary school science classes, virtual electric circuit practical training content with the same training method and operation process is produced based on MR. Finally, survey experiments are conducted to analyze the presence and experience of the MR-based educational environment provided using the produced content. Through this, the usability of the proposed practical training content is evaluated and future research directions are suggested.

Wishbowl: Production Case Study of Music Video and Immersive Interactive Concert of Virtual Band Idol Verse'day (Wishbowl: 버추얼 밴드 아이돌 Verse'day 뮤직비디오 및 몰입형 인터랙티브 공연 제작 사례 연구)

  • Recently, various virtual avatar music content that showcases singing and dancing have been produced, and as virtual artists gain popularity, offline virtual avatar concerts have also emerged. However, there are few examples of virtual avatar band content where avatars play instruments. In addition, offline virtual avatar concerts using large screens at the front are limited in their ability to utilize the fantastical effects and high degree of freedom unique to virtual reality. In this paper, inspired by these limitations of virtual avatar music content, we introduce the production case of virtual avatar band content and immersive interactive concert of virtual band idol Verse'day. Firstly, we present a case study on creating band performance animations and music videos using motion capture systems and real-time engines. Then, we introduce a production case of an immersive interactive concert using projection mapping technology and a light stick that allows real-time interaction in an offline concert. Finally, based on these production cases, we discussed the future research directions of developing virtual avatar music content creation. We expect that our production cases will inspire the creation of diverse virtual avatar music content and the development of immersive interactive offline virtual avatar concerts in the future.

An Analysis of Accessibility to the Living SOC for 'n-Minute City' Plan: the Case of Changwon City (n분 도시 계획을 위한 생활SOC 접근성 분석 - 창원시 사례 -)

  • As a part of domestic and international 'Time-Urban Planning,' the concept of 'n-minute city' is being discussed. However, relevant research in this area remains insufficient. Particularly in South Korea, studies focusing on n-minute cities based on accessibility are notably lacking. Therefore, this study aims to investigate Changwon City, dividing it into urban and non-urban areas. For each of the eight different aspects of 'Living SOC', we analyze accessibility and propose fundamental directions for creating n-minute cities in Changwon. The data are collected at a 100×100m cell level, including population and the location of SOC facilities. The road network data are also constructed, and the network analysis method of QGIS employed to measure accessibility to each facility. The results indicate that in urban areas, the average travel time to Living SOC is approximately 12 minutes. However, even within urban areas, locations on the outskirts take around 16 minutes, showing some variation compared to the city center. Non-urban areas have an average travel time of about 18 minutes, indicating poor accessibility. Additionally, there is significant variability in travel time to facilities depending on the specific cell in non-urban areas, necessitating targeted solutions. Considering the ongoing population decline in South Korea, achieving n-minute cities requires not only reconsidering customized facility supply and placement based on regional characteristics but also fundamentally restructuring urban spaces through strategies such as compact cities to optimize land use.
