  • As more and more companies pursue ISO 9000 certification, one of the most misconceptions about ISO 9000 is that registration is necessary only for business. ISO 9000 is being driven by commercial requirements, not legal fiat. This registration can be used as evidence of compliance to the ISO 9000 to satisfy specific customer requirements. The primary objective of this research is to provide the efficient implementation process of ISO 9000 certification on the basis of total quality management concerning with ISO/CDl 9001:2000, ISO/CDl 9004:2000 and ISO/CD2 9001:2000. Based on the result of first paper in May 1999, this study has been conducted using the data collected from 312 manufacturing companies which registered ISO 9000 certification. This analysis can be applied to Korean small and medium industrial companies in establishing and maintaining the development of qualify systems. The companies should be able to benefit if they make continuous effort to improve the quality activities based on the factors suggested in this paper.

  • Due to the rapid performance improvement of smartphones, multitasking on mobile platforms has become an essential feature. Unlike traditional desktop or server environments, mobile applications are mostly interactive jobs where response time is important, and some applications are classified as real-time jobs with deadlines. When interactive and real-time jobs run concurrently, memory allocation between multitasking applications is a challenging issue as they have different time requirements. In this paper, we study how to allocate memory space when real-time and interactive jobs are simultaneously executed in a smartphone to meet the multitasking requirements between heterogeneous jobs. Specifically, we analyze the memory size required to satisfy the constraints of real-time jobs and present a new model for allocating memory space between heterogeneous multitasking jobs. Trace-driven simulations show that the proposed model provides reasonable performance for interactive jobs while guaranteeing the requirement of real-time jobs.

  • Anew discretization method for the input-driven nonlinear continuous-time system with time delay is proposed. It is based on the combination of Taylor series expansion and first-order hold assumption. The mathematical structure of the new discretization scheme is explored. The performance of the proposed discretization procedure is evaluated by case studies. The results demonstrate that the proposed discretization scheme can assure the system requirements even though under a large sampling period. A comparison between first order hold and zero-order hold is simulated also.

  • During the last decade, there has been much written and said about the use of personal computers in acoustics and vibrations, both for measurement and results processing. The advances in PCs have been nothing short of phenomenal, driven by the fast moving requirements of information technology in the office environment, and these benefits has filtered into our world of acoustics, in the form of more flexible measurement tools. • In this study, flexible fixtures and end effectors are conceptually designed for the holding of thin-walled carbon-fiber reinforced-plastic (CFRP) workpieces in machining processes. Firstly, the fixture scenarios and system requirements for the conceptual designs of flexible-fixture and core units are proposed, including the propounding of the workpiece-holding mechanism and the core-unit requirements. A ball-joint pneumatic system is determined as a locking mechanism of the flexible-fixture system for the machining of thin-walled components. Secondly, conceptual designs of the core units are suggested with the driven requirements from the fixture scenarios. A self-tilting mechanism and an end-effector return mechanism are also proposed. Finally, the prototypes of the core units are manufactured, and the workpiece-holding capacity of each prototype is measured.

  • Increasing the value of data, paradigm shifts in research methods, and specific manifestations of open science indicate that research is no longer text-centric, but data-driven. In this study, we analyzed the services for DCC, ICPSR, ANDS and DataONE to derive key elements and functional requirements for research data management and services that are still insufficient in domestic research. Key factors derived include DMP writing support, data description, data storage, data sharing and access, data citations, and data management training. In addition, by presenting functional requirements to the derived key elements, this study can be applied to construct and operate RDM service in the future.

  • With the rapid development of DC high voltage accelerator, higher requirements have been raised for the design of DC high voltage power supply, requiring more stable high voltage with lower output ripple. Therefore, it also puts forward higher requirements for the parameter design of the voltage doubling rectifier circuit, which is the core component of the DC high voltage power supply. In order to obtain output voltage with better performance, the effects of the working frequency, the stage capacitance and the load resistance on the output voltage of the voltage doubling rectifier circuit are studied in detail by simulation. It can be concluded that the higher the working frequency of the transformer, the larger the stage capacitance, the larger the load resistance and the better the output voltage performance in a certain range. Based on this, a 2.5 MV voltage doubling rectifier circuit driven by a 120 kHz frequency transformer is designed, developed and tested for the power supply of the neutron source device towards BNCT. Experimental results show that this voltage doubling rectifier circuit can satisfy the design requirements, laying a certain foundation for the engineering design of DC high voltage power supply of neutron source device.

  • In this paper, we propose a QoS routing protocol for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. The proposed routing protocol is a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol. It can find an optimal route that satisfies QoS requirements using bandwidth and delay as QoS parameters. In this paper, we first present a network model for WIMAX based wireless mesh networks and explain why QoS routing protocol is the most appropriate for WiMAX based wireless mesh networks. Then, we propose a proactive hop-by-hop QoS routing protocol that meets QoS requirements of traffic flowing between mesh client and the gateway. The simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol outperforms QOLSR protocol in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio and routing overhead.
