  • This study is for analyzing the tone, the frame and the characteristics of political news in social media. Social news media is not same as old media in sharing news freely by SNS like tweeter, facebook and reporting, editing by anyone using SNS with various opinions. With Content analysis, sampling 419 cases from 'Wikitree' by the keyword, 'presidential election', all the full text analysed each how is social media making public opinion differently and which frame is using in. As the result, the social media has different tone, frame, and characteristic due to the reported figure, type of report, information source, attitude to the government, specifically shows a lack of in-depth report and distinct soft-journalism just same as old media's. Because the tone of social news media is not probable, specific but improbable, vague, using the irrational, strategic and episodic frame mainly.

  • Objective : This study describes the cases of sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) patients with marked or complete recovery. Methods : Three patients received oriental medical treatments continuously for more than 1 month and measured the hearing recovery. For diagnosis on these cases, pure tone audiometry (GSI 38, Welch allyn company) was used. For treatment, acupuncture, herbal-medicine and moxibustion treatment were applied. Results : All patients of this report had the recovery of hearing. In 2 cases, the pure-tone 5 frequency (0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 KHz) average improved by more than 35 dB (Marked recovery). In 1 case, it was within the normal limits after oriental medical therapy (Complete recovery). In addition, tinnitus and vertigo decreased in all patients. Conclusions : We may expect that the oriental medical therapy improvers the hearing recovery in the patients of SSNHL.

  • This paper reports a preliminary result of an acoustic study on the stress and intonational system in Lakhota, a native American language. It investigates how the stress and intonation in Lakhota are phonetically manifested; and how the stress interacts with other prosodic factors. The results preliminarily obtained from one native Lakhota speaker suggest that the primary cue of the stress is relatively high F0 which is often accompanied by higher intensity (for the vowel) and longer VOT (for aspirated stops). The results also indicate that stress is not reliably marked by duration. The stress system, however, interacts with the intonational pattern, such that, for example, intonational peak falls on the stressed syllable with a general pattern of L+H* and that it interacts with the boundary tone L%, resulting in mid tone utterance-finally. This paper can be viewed largely as a qualitative study on an understudied native American language, Lakhota and as forming a basis for further development of its stress and intonation system whose acoustic properties of its prosodic system have not been investigated before.

  • The purpose of this study is to report a clinical progress of sudden hearing loss through korean medicine. Between 26th Mar. 2014 and 19th Apr. 2014, she was treated with Chuna manual therapy every day and observed by Pure Tone Audiometry (before and after) and visual analogue pain scale (VAS). A patient was diagnosed with sudden hearing loss on 23th Dec. 2013 in Severance Hospital, she had sudden hearing loss on left side. She had 19 times treatments. At the first of treatment, her audibility was 20 dB on right side, 74 dB on left side and she had tinitus and ear fullness (VAS 8 / VAS 9). At the middle of treatment (2nd Apr. 2014), symptoms of tinitus and ear fullness started improving. State was tinitus VAS 6, ear fullness VAS 6. At the end of treatment (21th Apr. 2014), state was tinitus VAS 4, ear fullness VAS 4, and recorded 35 dB on right side, 80 dB on left side in pure tone audiometry. Chuna manual therapy is estimated to be good for sudden hearing loss especially on tinitus and ear fullness. More cases are required to develop treatment of sudden hearing loss.

  • A report of security problems and simultaneous operation limits of Standard tone currently used for FTS introduces the development of a next generation FTS. In this paper, BER performance by modulations and channel coding methods for EFTS are compared. Simulation results show that coherent modulations have better BER performance than noncoherent modulations. However the environments of a lunching vehicle may cause serious problems in achieving and maintaining synchronization and the increasing complexity of coherent systems also increases reliability problems. Therefore noncoherent systems are suitable for FTS even though BER performace of noncoherent systems is lower than coherent systems. Noncoherent DPSK has better BER performance than noncoherent CPFSK. However the PEP of noncoherent DPSK is 0.8dB higher than noncoherent CPFSK. Therefore a transmitter of noncoherent DPSK has more output power than noncoherent CPFSK. Convoltional code has better BER performance than RS code. However RS code has a tendency of steeply decreasing BER near the wanted $E_b/N_0$.

  • 1. Objective: The aim of this study was to report significant improvement of tinnitus and insomnia after treatment with Cheongsimyeonja-tang in a Taeeumin patient with Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss(SSHL) that accompanied with Tinnitus. 2. Method: We measured the hearing recovery. For diagnosis on this case, pure tone audiometry was used. The degree of improvement was evaluated by Siegel's Criteria. Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(THI) were also used to assess tinnitus objectively. 3. Result: There was no improvement in pure tone audiometry by Siegel's Criteria. However, VAS score was decreased from 10 to 1 and THI score was also decreased from 74 to 48. 4. Conclusion: A patient with SSHL, who has little possibility of recovery of hearing loss, was treated with Cheongsimyeonja-tang in a short period and significant improvement in tinnitus and insomnia was observed. We consider that consistent treatment of Cheongsimyeonja-tang can contribute to improve the hearing loss.

  • Purpose - This paper examines how the consumer animosity of partner country influences the purchase of foreign products. We analyzed news sentiment to determine whether Chinese consumer's animosity affect the purchase of the products made in Korea around the time when the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile system was deployed in South Korea. Design/methodology - To measure the tone of Chinese consumer animosity more carefully, we utilized a text mining technique of the Chinese language to read the public's opinion. Using Chinese news paper's editorials of 2015.1-2018.10, we analyzed the sentiment toward Korea and regressed it with Korean export to China. Findings - Empirical results report that Chinese consumers tended to reduce their purchase of consumer goods from Korea when the animosity increased, that is, the sentiments of Chinese news editorials were negative. In contrast, the animosity did not affect the purchase of Korean intermediates or raw materials. We further analyzed the effect by dividing the animosity into three categories; politics, economics, and culture. Among these groups, political news exhibits a unique effect on Chinese purchase on consumer goods from Korea. Originality/value - Existing literature on animosity models has measured the animosity by collecting the consumers' opinions through survey at a given time point, whereas it is measured by analyzing the tone of the press release by sentiment analysis during the time period around the event occurrence in this study.

  • Objectives: This study investigated how Korean daily newspapers frame the present government's health insurance coverage expansion policy, Moon Jae-in Care. Methods: A contents analysis was conducted to construct news frames represented in the four Korean daily newspapers' editorials and columns on Moon Jae-in Care during from April 2017 to April 2018. News text was classified into three different layers of frames: expressive element, narrative structure, and implied values. Results: The analysis revealed that the frequency of narrative frames was as follows: health system improvement (20.8%), public burden (14.6%), opposition by doctors (14.6%), and populism (12.5%). The financial sustainability accounted for 41.7% of the value frame, followed by procedural legitimation (18.8%), and coverage expansion (16.7%). The results also revealed that reported frames were different among newspapers: Chosun Ilbo tended to report in a negative tone, while Hankyoreh shinmun and Kyunghyang shinmun used a positive tone. Conclusions: This finding suggests that there are salient framings in reports on Moon Jae-in Care. Based on the results, the government needs to present a detailed financing plan on Moon Jae-in Care in detail. I discussed another implication of media frames results.
