  • The term dopa-responsive dystonia (DRD) is used to describe a group of neurometabolic disorders, which are characterized by dystonia, and are typically associated with diurnal fluctuations and respond to levodopa treatment. Autosomal dominant DRD (DYT5a, MIM# 128230) is caused by a heterozygous mutation in the GTP cyclohydrolase 1 (GCH1) gene (MIM# 600225). GCH1 encodes an enzyme, which is involved in the biosynthesis of tetrahydrobiopterin, an essential co-factor for tyrosine hydroxylase. Herein, we report the case of a 16-year-old girl who was diagnosed with DYT5a. She exhibited additional unusual clinical features, including intellectual disability, depression, multiple skeletal anomalies, and short stature, which are not commonly observed in patients with DYT5a. The patient harbored a heterozygous missense variant, c.539A>C, p.Gln180Pro, in the GCH1 gene, which was identified by targeted gene panel analysis using next-generation sequencing.

  • In this report, we summarize recent progress in the development of electrolyte-gated transistors (EGTs) for various printed electronics. EGTs, employing a high capacitance electrolyte as gate dielectric layer in transistors, exhibits increasing of drive current, lowering operation voltage, and new transistor architectures. While the use of electrolytes in electronics goes back to the early days of silicon transistors, the new printable, fast-responsive polymer electrolytes are expanding their range of applications from printable and flexible digital circuits to various neuromorphic devices. This report introduces the structure and operating mechanism of EGT and reviews key developments in electrolyte materials used in printed electronics. Additionally, we will look at various applications with EGTs that are currently underway.

  • The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) has been collaborating with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), to install a diagnostic coronagraph on the International Space Station (ISS). The coronagraph is designed to obtain simultaneous measurements of electron density, temperature, and velocity using multiple filters in the 3-10 Rs range. In 2019, we developed a new coronagraph and launched it on a stratospheric balloon (BITSE) from Fort Sumner, New Mexico in USA. As the next step, the coronagraph will be further developed, installed and operated on the ISS (CODEX) in 2023 to understand the physical conditions in the solar wind acceleration region, and enable and validate the next generation space weather models. In this presentation, we will report recent progress and introduce future plan.

  • The purpose of this study is to discover similarities and dissimilarities in life style and other factors for housing choices between two generations living in same household. It will provide knowledge that is helpful in understanding the two generations and develop marketing strategies for houses as a commodity that accommodates the life style of both generations. The data of this study were collected from October to November 2003, using a structured, self-report questionnaire that contains questions on 40 dimensions of life style and 33 items on housing choices. The original respondents consisted of 307 university students and their parents living in Seoul. The ages of the younger generation were limited from ぉ to 29. The final participants in this study included 224 sets of university students and their parents, that is, about 448 respondents. Frequency, percentage, factor analysis, paired t-test and means were used for data analysis. The results show that the life style may be divided into nine sub-types. There were generational differences in If-oriented lifestyle, Conservative lifestyle, As- service self-expression lifestyle, Pragmatic lifestyle, Convenience lifestyle, Self-development lifestyle, and Leisure-oriented lifestyle. Especially in the categories of Convenience lifestyle, If-oriented lifestyle and Positive Self-expression lifestyle, the younger generation ranked higher than their parents. The most important factors in housing choice may be divided into eight sub-categories. Among them are economic factors, housing amenities, housing design, distance from parents and children, social and environmental qualifies, and distance from work place and school. The two generations differed over the importance of the factors. The younger generation particularly valued the factors of distance from parents and children, housing amenities, housing design.

  • ANODE-free Li-metal batteries (AFLMBs) operating with Li of cathode material have attracted enormous attention due to their exceptional energy density originating from anode-free structure in the confined cell volume. However, uncontrolled dendritic growth of lithium on a copper current collector can limit its practical application as it causes fatal issues for stable cycling such as dead Li formation, unstable solid electrolyte interphase, electrolyte exhaustion, and internal short-circuit. To overcome this limitation, here, we report a novel dual-salt electrolyte comprising of 0.2 M LiPF6 + 3.8 M lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide in a carbonate/ester co-solvent with 5 wt% fluoroethylene carbonate, 2 wt% vinylene carbonate, and 0.2 wt% LiNO3 additives. Because the dual-salt electrolyte facilitates uniform/dense Li deposition on the current collector and can form robust/ionic conductive LiF-based SEI layer on the deposited Li, a Li/Li symmetrical cell exhibits improved cycling performance and low polarization for over 200 h operation. Furthermore, the anode-free LiFePO4/Cu cells in the carbonate electrolyte shows significantly enhanced cycling stability compared to the counterparts consisting of different salt ratios. This study shows an importance of electrolyte design guiding uniform Li deposition and forming stable SEI layer for AFLMBs.

  • The generation amounts of manure and urine were total 4.57kg/head/d of 1.49kg manure/head/d and 3.08kg urine/head/d with consideration of 3 seasons and live weight. The finalized mean unit load generation of filth were estimated at BOD 199.5g/head/d, CODCr 413.5g/head/d, T-N 27.8g/head/d, T-P 5.3g/head/d with consideration of seasons and the type of stalls. The unit load generation of manure and urine from korean cow were analyzed as 10.9kg/head/day and 3.3kg/head/day, respectively. The unit load generation of manure from milch cow was analyzed to be 24.6L/head/day which was similar to the report of MOE(2006). The urine generation, 10.5L/head/day, was higher than the results from MOA(2000) and NIAR(2000), but was lower than the results from MOE(2006), NIER(1986) and KIST(1990). The unit load generation from egg layers estimated by discharged amount and concentration analysis increases in due to the difference of planting head numbers, feed stuffs and manure disposal. In case of deer unit load generation by herbivora were calculated to be higher than data from existing references because of the gap between weight per livestock and the generation amounts of manure and urine.

  • A production management system is developed to enhance both the information and productivity of ship and offshore plant deckhouse floor outfitting. The functions of the production management system for the deckhouse floor outfitting were reviewed based on a literature survey of several production management systems with respect to the ship building and architecture fields. This study investigated numerous daily production reports and their application to actual work places to utilize the system development. The developed scanned drawing-based production management (SDPM) system minimizes any loss and/or distortion of work information between the workshop and management office when applying a scanned production drawing to the daily report. The SDPM system increases the data objectivity, as well as intuitiveness of the information generation by adopting an efficient user interface, which makes it possible to perform image annotations on the scanned drawing for the daily production report while simultaneously interacting with the production management database. Applying the system operation to actual deckhouse floor covering work verified that it was feasible to use the SDPM system for production management in the ship outfitting work process.

  • We showed that magnetic fields are generated in the plasma which have the temperature inhomogeneities. The mechanism is the same as the Weibel instability because the velocity distribution functions are at non-equilibrium and anisotropic under the temperature gradients. The growth timescale is much shorter than the dynamical time of structure formation. The coherence length of magnetic fields at the saturated time is much shorter than kpc scale and then, at nonlinear phase, become longer by inverse-cascade process. We report the application of our results to clusters of galaxies, not including hydrodynamic effects.
