  • Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by abnormalities in social communication/interaction and restrictive, repetitive patterns of behavior. ASD is a relatively common psychiatric disorder, with a prevalence of approximately 1.7% in children. Although many children and adolescents with ASD visit the hospital for medical help for emotional and behavioral problems such as mood instability and self-harming behavior, there are also many visits for sleep disturbances such as insomnia and sleep resistance. Sleep disturbances are likely to increase fatigue and daytime sleepiness, impaired concentration, negatively impact on daytime functioning, and pose challenges in controlling anger and aggressive behavior. Sleep disturbance in children and adolescents with ASD negatively affects the quality of life, nothing to say the quality of life of their families and school members. In this review, sleep disturbances that are common in children and adolescents with ASD and adolescents are presented. The developmental and behavioral impacts of sleep disturbances in ASD were also considered. Finally, non-pharmacological and pharmacological treatments for sleep disturbances in children and adolescents with ASD and adolescents are reviewed.

  • CCN utilizes MHT-based content authentication scheme. Some schemes propose improved MHT scheme to solve the inefficiency of the MHT-based content authentication scheme which is caused by repetitive hash value computation and witness transmission. For using MHT, it is essentially needed to minimize the possibility of error-occurrence as well as to improve the efficiency of the authentication scheme. This paper describes the improved MHT scheme is error-prone. Also, it analyzes the effect of a segment authentication error, especially, the degree of error propagation.

  • Recently, vibrational signal processing as a tool of machinery diagnosis has been actively studying. In this study, a new scheme for detection and diagnosis of localized defects in ball bearings, using unwrapped phase spectrum of FFT is described. The characteristic phase spectra for such defects shows linearly varying patterns due to the repetitive impact signals generated by localized defects, i.e., one linear line for single defect and various linearly changing shape according to angle between the two defect located points. The effectiveness of this method is confirmed by computer simulation and experiments on bearing with single or double defects at different locations.

  • Based on advances in biotechnology and neuroscience, neuromodulation is poised to gain clinical importance as a treatment modality for psychiatric disorders. In addition to old-established electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), clinicians are expected to understand newer forms of neurostimulation, such as deep brain stimulation (DBS), vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS). Given the growing interest in non-invasive neuromodulation technologies, clinicians may seek sufficient information about neuromodulation to inform their clinical practice. A growing literature suggests that applications of non-invasive neuromodulation have evidence particularly for indications where treatments are currently insufficient, such as drug-resistant depression. However, positive neuromodulation studies require replication, and the precise interactions among stimulation, antidepressant medication, and psychotherapy are unknown. Further studies of long-term safety and the impact on the developing brain are needed. Non-invasive neuromodulatory devices could enable more individualized treatment. However, do-it-yourself (DIY) stimulation kits require a better understanding of the effects of more frequent patterns of stimulation and raise concerns about clinical supervision, regulation, and reimbursement. Wide spread enthusiasm for therapeutic potential of neuromodulation in clinical practice settings should be mitigated by the fact that there are still research gaps and challenges associated with non-invasive neuromodulatory devices.

  • This study examines the impact of dance in dance viral convergence advertising. Dance viral images appeal to a wide range of consumers. Especially, Dong-A Otsuka's Oronamin C ad released in 2015 achieved great results and won an advertisement award with an addictive CM song and dance. So this study selected the advertisements of Oronnamin C from 2015 to 2017 for its analysis. The theoretical background is analyzed through the element of dance choreography and characteristics. The results of the analysis of ads showed that they were made of simple and repetitive situations, which are the characteristics of dance comic style. There was little shift in space, choreography was mainly based on one straight line but with a crowded group, circle and V-shape appeared. Spatial composition was mainly first-person point of view. In the dance viral ads , dances were composed of short rhythmic phrases with simple and repetitive elements, eliminating complicated elements.

  • To navigate in ice-covered waters, the ice-breaking process is required. The ice-breaking mode depends on material properties of sea ice and ice conditions. The ice-breaking mode is classified into ramming and continuous ice-breaking. The ramming is effective on large ice features, such as thick ice ridge and icebergs, and the continuous ice-breaking is on level ice. In general, the impact time duration of crushing or bending on ice sheets is from 0.2 to 1.0 second. However, impact duration in ramming will be increased. The Korean ice-breaking research vessel ARAON conducted her research voyage in the Antarctic sea during the winter of 2012. The IBRV ARAON measured strain in ramming and continuous ice-breaking. Strain gauge signals were recorded during the planned ice-breaking performance and the unplanned ice transits in heavy ice conditions. The aim of this study is to investigate the ice load signals measured in ramming processes under the heavy ice condition. Based on the time history of the signals, a raising time, a half-decaying time and time duration were investigated and compared with the previous study which was suggested the five profiles of the ice load signals.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze the impact of step-by-step educational comic book behavior of the elementary school students and their reading levels on their learning competencies. To this end, qualitative research with focus group and deep interviews was conducted with students on different reading levels. During their repetitive reading activities, the students tended to use various educational comics within the same subjects area on their corresponding reading levels. Such behavior led the students to further read other books than comics in the similar subjects areas, and by doing so, the books acted as an important reference to the students' class materials. It was found that the students' such behavior has positive impact on the improvement of their learning competencies. It is hoped that this study will be supportive to develop self-study methods and effective reading guidance plans by improving the usage of educational comics.

  • Alcaligenes sp. JMP228 carrying 2,4dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) degradative plasmid pJP4 was inoculated into natural soil, and transfer of the plasmid pJP4 to indigenous soil bacteria was investigated with and without 2,4-D amendment. Plasmid pJP4 transfer was enhanced in the soils treated with 2,4-D, compared to the soils not amended with 2,4-D. Several different transconjugants were isolated from the soils treated with 2,4-D, while no indigenous transconjugants were obtained from the unamended soils. Inoculation of the soils with both the donor Alcaligenes sp. JMP228/pJP4 and a recipient Burkholderia cepacia DBO 1 produced less diverse transconjugants than the soils inoculated with the donor alone. Repetitive extragenic palindromic-polymerase chain reaction (REP-PCR) analysis of the transconjugants exhibited seven distinct genomic DNA fingerprints. Analysis of 16S rDNA sequences indicated that the transconjugants were related to members of the genera Burkholderia and Pandoraea. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis of PCR-amplified 16S rRNA genes revealed that inoculation of the donor caused clear changes in the bacterial community structure of the 2,4-Damended soils. The new 16S rRNA gene bands in the DGGE profile corresponded with the 16S rRNA genes of 2,4-Ddegrading transconjugants isolated from the soil. The results indicate that introduction of the 2,4-D degradative plasmid as Alcaligenes sp. JMP228/pJP4 has a substantial impact on the bacterial community structure in the 2,4-D-amended soil.

  • Predicting the incident clearance time is important for eliminating the high transportation costs and congestion from non-repetitive congestion caused by incidents. In this study, the factors influencing the clearance time suitable for domestic road conditions were analyzed, using a training dataset for predicting the incident clearance time using artificial neural networks. In a previous study, the under-prediction problem for high incident clearance time was used. In the present study, over-sampling training data applied using the SMOGN technique was obtained and applied to the model as a solution. As a result, the DNN model applying the SMOGN technique could compensate for the limitations of the previously developed prediction model by predicting the clearance time with the highest accuracy among the models developed in the research process with MAE = 18.3 minutes.
