  • To examine the movement of the freshwater discharged artificially into the estuary during ebbing period in the Keum River dike we observed surface salinity variations in three stations along the estuary channel in May 1998 and July 1997 and surface temperature and salinity along the ferry-route between Kunsan and Changhang during eighteen days in July 1999. Based upon the typical features of observed salinity variation, we analyzed the excursion and decay processes of the discharged water. When freshwater is discharged, the low-salinity water forms strong salinity front over the entire estuary width, which basically moves forth and back by tidal modulation along the channel, producing the sudden change of surface salinity with the front passage. Salinity distribution along the channel, which is deduced from time variation of mean salinity over the estuary width, after one tidal period from gate operation suggests that diluted low-salinity water is trapped to the front and surface salinity increases gradually toward the upstream region. This frontal distribution of salinity is interpreted to be produced by the sudden gate operation supplying and stopping of freshwater within about two hours. Daily repeat of freshwater discharge produces separation (double front) or merge between decaying and new-generated fronts depending on dike-gate opening time, and the front decays with salinity increasing if the freshwater supply is stopped more than two days. In addition, the observed fluctuations and deviations in surface salinity variation is explained in terms of the differences of fronts intensity, their transition time and temporal salinity front running along the channel, which can be generated due to artificial gate-operation for the discharging time and water volume in the estuary dike.

  • It is very essential to estimate the water body area using remote exploration for water resource management, analysis and prediction of water disaster damage. Hydrophysical detection using satellites has been mainly performed on large satellites equipped with optical and SAR sensors. However, due to the long repeat cycle, there is a limitation that timely utilization is impossible in the event of a disaster/disaster. With the recent active development of Micro satellites, it has served as an opportunity to overcome the limitations of time resolution centered on existing large satellites. The Micro satellites currently in active operation are ICEYE in Finland and Capella satellites in the United States, and are operated in the form of clusters for earth observation purposes. Due to clustering operation, it has a short revisit cycle and high resolution and has the advantage of being able to observe regardless of weather or day and night with the SAR sensor mounted. In this study, the operation status and characteristics of micro satellites were described, and the water area estimation technology optimized for micro SAR satellite images was applied to the Daecheong Dam basin on the Korean Peninsula. In addition, accuracy verification was performed based on the reference value of the water generated from the optical satellite Sentinel-2 satellite as a reference. In the case of the Capella satellite, the smallest difference in area was shown, and it was confirmed that all three images showed high correlation. Through the results of this study, it was confirmed that despite the low NESZ of Micro satellites, it is possible to estimate the water area, and it is believed that the limitations of water resource/water disaster monitoring using existing large SAR satellites can be overcome.

  • Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority(ACARA) was founded by Australian federal government in 2009. Leading under ACARA, national education curriculum development was propelled. Also from 2014 they gradually extended enforcement of new curriculum by a Reminder about new syllabus implementation (2013.01.29.). The research result of Australia's curriculum, and textbook shows that students repeat, and advance the same contents under spiral curriculum as they move to higher grade. They actively use digital technology, and also puts emphasis on practical context such as Money & financial mathematics. On the level of difficulty, or quantity aspect, Korea handles relatively advanced contents of 'number and operation' or 'Letters and Algebraic Expressions' domain than Australia. However on statistics domain, Australia not only puts more focus on practical stats than Korea, but also concerns as much on both various and qualitative terms Australia doesn't deal with formal concept of 'function'. However, they learn the wide concept of function by handling various graphs. This shows Australia has a point of similarity, and also difference to Korea on various angles.

  • In this paper, we propose SA hash algorithm to avoid upload identical files and design server system using proposed SA hash algorithm. Client to want to upload file examines the value of SA hash and if the same file is found in server system client use the existing file without upload. SA hash algorithm which is able to examine the identical-file divides original file into blocks of n bits. Original file's mod i bit and output hash value's i bit is calculated with XOR operation. It is SA hash algorithm's main routine to repeat the calculation with XOR until the end of original file. Using SA hash algorithm which is more efficient than MD5, SHA-1 and SHA-2, we can design server system to avoid uploading identical file and save storage capacity and upload-time of server system.

  • The natural dyeing of fabrics with myrobalan extract was investigated. After dyeing of silk, cotton and rayon with myrobalan extract, the dyeability of myrobalan extract was evaluated with the conditions of concentration, temperature, time, repeat-numbers, pH, mordants variables, the changes of dyeability and surface colors by methods of mordanting and color fastness. The wavelength of maximum absorption of the colored solution from myrobalan extract appeared at 272 nm. Therefore, the substance of myrobalan extract was verified as tannin dyes. The optimum dyeing of fabrics was carried out at 30%(o.w.f) dye concentration. Silk fabrics dyed with myrobalan extract showed the highest K/S value at the temperature of $80^{\circ}C$ when it was dyed for seventy minutes, while cotton and rayon fabrics showed the highest K/S value at the temperature of $90^{\circ}C$ when they were dyed for seventy minutes and thirty minutes, respectively. Dyeing operation was carried out in acidic dyebath of pH 3. The K/S value of silk fabric was higher in pre-mordant stage than in post-mordant, while the K/S values of cotton and rayon fabrics were higher in post-mordant stage. The surface colors of dyed fabrics were different according to used mordants: Al and Cu mordanted fabrics were dyed in yellowish colors, while Fe mordanted fabric was dyed in khaki-black color. Light-fastness of the color fastness was improved in Fe-mordant. Washing-fastness was relatively good, and dry cleaning-fastness of dyed fabrics was excellent.

  • This study analyzes the interaction of variables consisting of the local finance system based on the theory of system thinking regarding how financial decentralization can be understood as the political means for local decentralization and why it is needed. The results gained from this research are as follows: first, variables consisting of the local finance system form interactional relationship in the significant level, and it has been found that rapid growth and rapid decline repeat with five positive feedback loops as the center. Second, strategic points for the validity of local finance decentralization were discovered through causal map modeling. In particular, it has been shown that the virtuous cycle structure declines the local finance system through the constant operation of variables (government subsidies, taxation for real estate transactions, central government's local finance mediation system, and local government debt, etc.) that deteriorate the vicious cycle structure. Based on this, strategic policy tasks were drawn. It is expected that this study will help the understanding of the local finance system and increase academic width for local finance from the aspects of general knowledge, not the knowledge about local finance decentralization.

  • The effect of low-dose aprotinin on hemostasis in patients undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) for repeat valve replacement and coronary artery bypass operations were investigated. Thirty patients undergoing elective CPB from February 1993 through February 1995 at Catholic Medical Center were studied. the patients were randomly divided into two groups(15 patients per group) : group 1, receive 1, 000, 000 KIU/kg aprotinin in the CPB priming volume and 20, 000 KIU/kg aprotinin intravenously each hour during CPB ; group 2, without aprotinin administration served as the controls. The result showed that the early postoperative (during the first 24 hours) and mean postoperative total blood loss of the aprotinin group were significantly reduced than the control group (317.2 $\pm$ 89.6ml in the aprotinin group versus 821.3 $\pm$ 441.2rnl in the control group, p<0.01 ; 767.2 $\pm$ 214.1 ml in the aprotinin group versus 1562.5 $\pm$ 735.2 rnl in the control gorup, p<0.01). Total use of packed red ells and fresh frozen plasma was higher in control group(1.22 $\pm$ 0.3 units versus 4.21 $\pm$ 1.7units of packed red cells, p<0.01 : and 2.37 $\pm$ 0.4units versus 6.72 $\pm$ 0.88uni1s of fresh prozen plasma, p<0.05). We conclude the low-dose aprotinin was positive influence on postoperative blood loss in undergoing highly bleeding potency cardiac operation.

  • Background: Reoperation of cardiac surgery via median sternotomy can be associated with significant complications. Thoracotomy is expected to reduce the risk of reoperation and to enhance the surgical outcomes. We retrospectively analyzed two operative approaches (thoracotomy vs. sternotomy) in cardiac reoperation. Materials and Methods: From September 2007 to December 2010, 35 patients who required reoperation of the mitral valvular disease following previous median sternotomy were included. Average age of patients was $45.8{\pm}15.4$ years (range, 14 to 76 years) and male-to-female was 23:12. Interval period between primary operation and reoperation was $135.8{\pm}105.6$ months (range, 3.3 to 384.9 months). Results: Comparative analysis was done dividing the patient group into two groups that are thoracotomy group (22 patients) and sternotomy group (13 patients). Thoracotomy group was significantly lower in operative time ($415.2{\pm}90.3$ vs. $497.5{\pm}148.0$, p<0.05), bleeding control time ($108.0{\pm}29.5$ vs. $146.4{\pm}66.8$, p<0.05) and chest tube drainage ($287.5{\pm}211.5mL$ vs. $557.3{\pm}365.5mL$, p<0.05) compared to sternotomy group. Conclusion: The thoracotomy approach is superior to sternotomy in some variables, and it is considered as a valid alternative to repeat median sternotomy in patients who underwent a previous median sternotomy.

  • Recently, the earth scale disaster is occurring frequently. Under the effects of global warming, the weather has become unseasonable worldwide. Hence, the earth is experiencing unstable condition with many disasters such as storms and flood damages as well as earthquake. Therefore, it is necessary to consider what we can do to prevent disasters. A disaster like earthquake will inevitably occur in view of the probabilities. The active period of earthquakes and the inactive periods repeat alternatively. Consequently, recent warnings indicate that there is a potential risk of massive earthquakes. Consideration of the effects of tsunami to the moored ship is very important. Operational problems such as moored ship motions sometimes become remarkable with large amplitude and long periods in harbor. Moored ship motions may cause the breakage of mooring systems such as mooring lines, fenders or quay. Large and long period moored ship motions are caused by resonant effects. In this paper, the moored ship motions within a harbor by the large-scale tsunami and the effects on the motions and mooring loads with resonant effects are investigated by numerical simulations.
