In South Korea, there have been many studies on efficient building-energy management using renewable energy facilities in single zero-energy houses or buildings. However, such management was limited due to spatial and economic problems. To realize a smart zero-energy city, studying efficient energy integration for the entire city, not just for a single house or building, is necessary. Therefore, this study was conducted in the eco-friendly energy town of Chungbuk Innovation City. Chungbuk successfully realized energy independence by converging new and renewable energy facilities for the first time in South Korea. This study analyzes energy data collected from public buildings in that town every minute for a year. We propose a smart city building-energy management model based on the results that combine various renewable energy sources with grid power. Supervised learning can determine when it is best to sell surplus electricity, or unsupervised learning can be used if there is a particular pattern or rule for energy use. However, it is more appropriate to use reinforcement learning to maximize rewards in an environment with numerous variables that change every moment. Therefore, we propose a power distribution algorithm based on reinforcement learning that considers the sales of Energy Storage System power from surplus renewable energy. Finally, we confirm through economic analysis that a 10% saving is possible from this efficiency.
The development of diesel power generation is predominantly geared toward island areas or ships because diesel exhibits weak scale-merit characteristics and power quality problems, which are associated with environmental pollution. However, a new energy paradigm, distribution energy resource (DER), has been emerging as a renewable energy source due to the existing structural problems in waste disposal and complex factors such as the conversion technology of waste emulsified oil (WDF). By combining extended producer responsibility (EPR) support and renewable energy certificates (REC), including waste energy REC 0.25 for other bioenergy and REC 1.0 for power transactions, an adequate profit model can be built through self-energetic power generation, thereby drawing keen attention from related industries. Therefore, if WDF is used appropriately as a high-quality engine fuel, it can lead to the development of various fields such as novel renewable energy sectors, waste management, and EPR-related industries. This study is intended to produce WDF using plastic waste by using it as engine-generator fuel. Moreover, we investigate ways to improve the quality and suitability of WDF as an engine fuel.
Upgrading of pyrolysis wax oil using HZSM-5 catalyst has been conducted in a continuous fixed bed reactor at $450^{\circ}C$, 1hour, LHSV 3.5/h. The catalytic degradation was studied with a function of catalyst amount and reaction temperature. The raw pyrolysis wax oil shows relatively high boiling point distribution ranging from around $300^{\circ}C$ to $550^{\circ}C$, which has considerably higher boiling point distribution than that of commercial diesel. The catalytic degradation using HZSM-5 catalyst shows the high conversion of pyrolysis wax oil to light hydrocarbons. The liquid product obtained shows high gasoline range fraction as around 90% fraction and considerably high aromatic fraction in liquid product. Here, the experimental variable such as catalyst amount and reaction temperature was influenced on the product distribution.
Power generated from renewable energy has continuously increased recently. As the distributed generation begins to interconnect in the distribution system, an accurate generation forecasting has become important in efficient distribution planning. This paper explained method and current state of distributed power generation forecasting models. This paper presented selecting input and output variables for the forecasting model. In addition, this paper analyzed input variables and forecasting models that can use as mid-to long-term distributed power generation forecasting.
It is DC power that Output of renewable energy being recently developed and researched. Also, demand of DC power will expect to proliferate due to increase of digital load. Thus, DC distribution system providing high quality of power and reliability has emerged as a new distribution system. If the conventional distribution systems are substituted by proposed DC distribution system, the output of renewable energy can be connected with distribution systems under minimum power conversion. Therefore, in the event of connection with DC load, it can construct an efficient distribution system. In this paper, the integrated parallel operation of power conversion module for DC distribution system is proposed. Also, this paper proposed modularization of power conversion devices for DC distribution system and power control for parallel operation of large capacity system. DC distribution system consists of three power conversion modules such as AC/DC power conversion module 2 set, ESS module 1 set. DC distribution system controls suitable operation depending on the status of the DC power distribution system and load. Integrated operation of these systems is verified by simulation and experiment results.

In recent years, solid-state Li metal batteries (SSLBs) have attracted significant attention as the next-generation batteries with high energy and power densities. However, uncontrolled dendrite growth and the resulting pulverization of Li during repeated plating/stripping processes must be addressed for practical applications. Herein, we report a plastic-crystal-based polymer/ceramic composite solid electrolyte (PCCE) to resolve these issues. To fabricate the one-side ceramic-incorporated PCCE (CI-PCCE) film, a mixed precursor solution comprising plastic-crystal-based polymer (succinonitrile, SN) with garnet-structured ceramic (Li7La3Zr2O12, LLZO) particles was infused into a thin cellulose membrane, which was used as a mechanical framework, and subsequently solidified by using UV-irradiation. The CI-PCCE exhibited good flexibility and a high room-temperature ionic conductivity of over 10-3 S cm-1. The Li symmetric cell assembled with CI-PCCE provided enhanced durability against Li dendrite penetration through the solid electrolyte (SE) layer than those with LLZO-free PCCEs and exhibited long-term cycling stability (over 200 h) for Li plating/stripping. The enhanced Li+ transference number and lower interfacial resistance of CI-PCCE indicate that the ceramic-polymer composite layer in contact with the Li anode enabled the uniform distribution of Li+ flux at the interface between the Li metal and CI-PCCE, thereby promoting uniform Li plating/stripping. Consequently, the Li//LiFePO4 (LFP) full cell constructed with CI-PCCE demonstrated superior rate capability (~120 mAh g-1 at 2 C) and stable cycle performance (80% after 100 cycles) than those with ceramic-free PCCE.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to enhance sales promotion efficiency for using solid refuse fuel facilities. Renewable energy technology using Solid Refuse Fuel (SRF) is an economic efficiency technology that recovers waste by burning various wastes. A survey on the pollutants discharged from the solid fuels facilities was investigated so that the SRF facilities could be expanded, distributed and reflected in the policy. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, 9 business sites using SRF and Bio-SRF as main raw materials were investigated for 2 years. The characteristics of target business sites such as the type of fuel used, combustion method, combustion temperature, daily fuel consumption and environmental prevention facilities were studied. Results: The average pollution & ammonia concentration of Bio-SRF facilities was found to be 88.15% higher than that of SRF facilities. But the average acetaldehyde concentration of SRF facilities was found to be 88.15% higher than that of Bio-SRF facilities. Conclusions: The main issue is how much electric power generation using combustible materials affects air pollution. The waste recycling law provides the standard value according to the fuel property, but there is a considerable gap with the mixed fuel. Therefore, for efficient utilization of facilities using solid fuel products, additional research is needed to improve the distribution structure of exhaust pollutants is needed.
Due to developing environmental concern use of renewable energy source is very essential. The great demand for the energy supply coupled with inadequate energy sources creates an emergency to find a new solution for the energy shortage. The appropriate wind energy distribution is the fundamental requirement for the assessment of wind energy potential available at the particular site essential for the design of wind farms. Hence the proper specification of the wind speed distribution plays a vital role. In this paper the Bimodal Weibull distribution is used to estimate the Capacity factor at the proposed site. The shape and scale parameters estimated using Maximum likelihood method is used as the initial value for extrapolation. Application of this model will give an accurate result overwhelming the concept of overestimation or underestimation of Capacity factor.
Recently, BESS is considered as one of essential countermeasure for demand side management. However, an economic evaluation is critical issue for the introduction of power system because the cost of BESS is very high in present stage. Therefor, this paper presents economic evaluation method for customer use case by considering peak shaving function based on the real time price. From the case study on the model power system and educational customer, it is confirmed that the proposed method is a practical tool for the economic analysis of BESS. and analytical approach for the reliability assessment in radially operated distribution systems. The approach can estimate the expected reliability performance of distribution systems by a direct assessment of the configuration of the systems using the reliability indexes such as NDP (Non-Delivery Power) and NDE (Non-Delivery Energy). The indexes can only consider the number and configuration of the load, but can not consider the characteristics of the load which is the one of the most important factor in the investment cost for the distribution systems. Therefore, this paper presents the new performance indexes for the investment of the distribution facilities considering both the expected interruption cost for the load section and the operation characteristics of Energy Storage System. The results from a case study show that the proposed methods can be a practical tool for the reliability management in distribution systems including Energy Storage System.
