A Study on Automation of Image Collection Planning

  • One of main concerns of operators of the Earth observation satellite is taking images as many as possible under the constraints of satellite resources during fixed period. In order to achieve this goal, satellite operators are strongly required to generate the optimized image collection plans, and it is a very time consuming process to achieve an optimized image collection plan when it is done by manual. This paper suggests automation of image collection planning based on the dynamic programming algorithm to reduce the time required for image collection planning. The validity of the proposed method is tested using operating satellite system and the result is given in this paper.

  • Since the dismantling processes of building are very dangerous, there have been many studies to develop a remote operating devices using joystick. In this paper, in order to improve the operability of the dismantling actuator that is usually an excavator, a novel concept of tele-operated haptic device is proposed. Operators who use this haptic device with additional environmental sensing devices can work safely away from the dangerous sites. First, based on the concept design of the haptic device, the workspace mapping from the haptic device to the excavator is explored. Second, the kinematics which deals with the conversion from the 3 dimensional position information of the haptic device to the joint variable information of the backhoe is included. Lastly, 3D graphical simulation of both haptic device and the backhoe will be shown. This new design of the haptic device can be easily manufactured and gives the workers very convenient and transparent remote control capability.

용수로 분수문 개폐장치 개발 (Development of Devices of the Diversion Gate in Irrigation Canal)

  • Devices of diversion gate used at irrigation canal, as a irrigation structures of agriculture, have shown serious problems such as corrosion, defect, inconvenience of operation, etc. Accordingly, handy devices of diversion gate have been developed and then tested in the laboratory. The operating types of the prototype were a rack-and-pinion type, an improved screw type that only gate plate was moved up and down while the screw axis was unmoved, and a remote control type which can be controlled from 50m away using a remote control system. Those 3 types were developed, and the improved screw type was shown the best operation through the laboratory tests.

  • 태양광발전소의 급속한 보급과 다양한 설계, 개발, 시공, 유지보수 관련 기술과 기업이 다양하게 공존하며 2010년 초반부터 구축된 최근의 태양광발전소는 원격 모니터링과 관제가 잘 이루어지고 있으나, 구형의 초기 발전소들은 타 모델과의 호환성이 열악하여 통합된 원격 계측의 기술 표준화가 절실한 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 태양광발전소를 원격으로 운영관제 하기 위한 기술적 가능성, 개발에 필요한 검토와 연구를 진행 하였다.

  • This paper describes the standardization of remote monitoring and controlling system for nursery electrical facilities. The proposed system have three operating modes of motoring, controlling, and fault-notifying. In fault-notifying mode, the local unit is designed to send messages on failure of the electrical facilities to the central computer, mobile phone, and pager. Also, the local unit is consisted of 24-input and 8-output port needed for monitoring and controlling the facilities. With the use of this standardized system, we could expect the effective management in every phase of nursery facilities.

In this paper, we introduce the conception of hardware and software design about Central Control System, the communication method and protocol in Feeder Remote Unit, the Automatic Switch, the operating software, consideration factors in the feeder automation(FA) and the system configuration of NDAS in power distribution test center.

사용후핵연료봉 인출장치의 원격감시를 위한 실시간 3차원 그래픽 시뮬레이션 (Real-time 3D Graphic Simulation of the Spent Fuel Rod Extracting Machine for Remote Monitoring)

  • The spent fuel rod extracting machine is automatically operated in high radioactive environment, so high reliability of operation is required. In this paper, to enhance the reliability of this machine by providing a close monitoring capability. a real time graphic simulation method is suggested. This method utilizes conventional IGRIP (Interactive Graphics Robot Instruction Program) 3D graphic simulation tool to visualize and simulate the 3D graphic model of this machine. Also, the dedicated protocol is defined for transmission of the operational data of the machine. The real time graphic simulation is realized by developing the socket module between a graphic workstation and a machine control computer through the TCP/IP network and by dividing the 3D graphic simulation GSL(Graphic Simulation Language) program as a small sized sub routine. The suggested method is implemented while automatically operating the rod extracting machine. The result of implementation shows that the real time 3D graphic simulation is well synchronized with the actual machine according to the operational data.

  • In this paper, it was proposed a new technology to improve the performance of the remote control in virtual reality applications. The operator must know the information of surroundings of the robot, collision possibility of the equipment, and force feedback of the manipulator. The time delay problem occurs in the tele-operating and it causes vibration and expressive power of the manipulator owing to bidirectional force feedback. We presented a new control method to control of the teleoperating system based on serial bus. The reliability is evaluated by simulation.

  • The Compact Airborne Imaging Spectrometer System (CAISS) was jointly designed and developed as the hyperspectral imaging system by Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and ELOP inc., Israel. The primary mission of the CAISS is to acquire and provide full contiguous spectral information with high quality spectral and high spatial resolution for advanced applications in the field of remote sensing. The CAISS consists of six physical units; the camera system, the gyro-stabilized mount, the jig, the GPS/INS, the power inverter and distributor, and the operating system. These subsystems shall be tested and verified in the laboratory before the flight. Especially the camera system of the CAISS shall be calibrated and validated with the calibration equipments such as the integrated sphere and spectral lamps. To improve data quality and availability, it is the most important to understand the mechanism of hyperspectral imaging system and the radiometric and spectral characteristics. This paper presents the major characteristics of camera system on the CAISS and summarizes the results of radiometric and spectral experiment during preliminary system verification.

  • This paper presents the development of a knowledge-based control system operating via the Internet. With the synergy provided by the Internet, the central expert controller with its knowledge-base has the potential to serve a multitude of front-end clients located anywhere in the world provided they have Internet access. In this way, the operational span of the knowledge-based control system can be expanded to virtually anyplace within the reach of the Internet. This configuration has positive implications in improving the efficiency of distributed operations, thereby enabling plantwide optimization and costs savings. Datasocket technology is adopted to facilitate a more efficient data exchange between the knowledge-based central server and the front-end clients. A specific application in the remote monitoring and fault diagnosis of machines using the proposed control configuration is presented in the paper.
