REMOTE SENSING OF THE CHINA SEAS AT ORSI/OUC

  • We present an overview on the observation and research for the China seas using both field experiments and multi-sensor satellite data at ORSI/OUC, covering two topics: (1) Spatial and temporal distribution of internal waves in the China Seas and retrieval of internal wave parameters; (2) Retrieval, validation, and cross-comparison of multi-sensor ocean color data as well as ocean optics in situ experiments in the East China Sea. We also present an incoherent Doppler wind lidar, developed by ORSI, and its observation for marine-atmospheric boundary layer.

일본 오키나와 낙도형 통합교육 모델 개발을 위한 발전과제 -낙도의 특수교육 특징과 IEAT평가 결과의 비교분석을 중심으로- (Tasks to Develop the Inclusive Education Model for Remote Islands in Okinawa, Japan -Centering on the Analysis of the Characteristics of Remote Islands and the Results of Inclusive Education Assessment Tool (IEAT)-)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 일본 오키나와현에 위치한 낙도의 특수교육 특징과 특수교육 추진현황을 비교 분석하여 낙도형 통합교육 모델 개발을 위한 발전과제를 제안하는 것이다. 이를 위해 일본 오키나와현에 위치한 낙도의 특수교육 시스템을 평가하기 위하여 IEAT를 활용한 설문조사를 실시하였고 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 t-test를 실시하였다. 연구 결과룰 바탕으로 통합교육 시스템 구축 모델 사업 성과보고서(2016)에서 제시한 과제와 본 연구의 분석결과를 비교분석하여 낙도의 통합교육 모델을 개발하기 위한 발전 과제를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 향후 낙도의 통합교육 모델을 개발하기 위해서는 첫째, 특수교육의 전문성을 확보해야 하며 둘째, 다직종 다기관과의 연계가 이루어져야 할 것이며 셋째, 장애에 대한 이해를 촉진시켜야 할 것이다. 넷째, 장애학생의 자립성 향상을 위한 노력이 필요하며 마지막으로 교육 시스템과 관련된 공평성을 확보해야 할 것이다.

초등 과학 온라인 수업 운영에 대한 교사들의 인식과 운영실태 (Survey on Teachers' Perception and Operational State for Elementary Science Online Remote Classes)

  • The aims of this study were to do a survey on teachers' perception and operational state for elementary science online remote classes and suggest ways to improve the elementary science online remote classes. The survey was based on responses from 100 teachers who have taught elementary science online remote classes for the first semester of 2020 for COVID-19. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of four parts: general informations of participants, the operation status of elementary science online remote classes, teachers' perceptions on the operation of elementary science online remote classes, ways to improve elementary science online remote classes. As a result of this study, elementary teachers taught elementary science online remote classes on the main use of content utilization type. And they had a difficulty in conducting elementary science online remote classes because of lack of contents, absence of elementary science online remote classes teaching methods, learner management and heavy workload. Therefore, to improve elementary science online remote classes the Ministry of Education and regional offices of education have to develop and provide high-quality contents reflect the characteristics of elementary science subjects, introduce a rent-an-experiment equipment system, and build a science class platform providing frequent real-time interaction between teacher and student.

  • 교육에 있어서 질이란 쉽게 정의될 수 있는 것이 아니다. 마찬가지로 원격교육에서도 그 질의 문제는 이야기하는 사람과 그의 관심사에 따라 조금씩 다른 각도에서 정의되고 다양한 성공요인을 제시한다. 인터넷의 확산으로 원격교육 시스템 구축과 활용은 점차적으로 매우 중요한 전략 요인으로 부각되고 있으며, 이와 함께 국내적으로 원격교육 시스템 구축에 관한 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있는 편이다. 그러나 대체로 기술적인 면에 치중해 있으며, 성공적인 원격교육 시스템 구축을 위한 성공요인에 대한 연구가 아직은 미비한 것이 현실이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 효과적인 웹기반 원격교육 시스템 구현을 위한 주요 성공요인을 마련하여 원격교육 시스템에서 사용자 성과를 효과적으로 극대화시키고자 하였다.

Remote Experiments for Control Education

  • This paper suggests remote experiments using the internet for the control education. The remote experiment is composed of equipment server computers, networks accessible to internet, and real plants such as inverted pendulums, crane systems and microcontrollers. Additionally, it requires a server program that has I/O functions with plants and calculate the control, an interface program bridging between web and the server program, and the home page including the detail explanation for the usage. For effective educations, how to perform experiments and how to combine the experiment with lectures will be discussed. The simple experiments by entering a few control parameters and the complex experiments by designing overall controls, will be explained. Technologies related with the remote experiment and other possible remote experiment will be introduced. It is demonstrated that the remote experiment will be very useful, particular for control education where students have difficulties in performing the experiments for lack of experimental equipments.

College Students' Workload and Productivity for Different Types of Tasks before and during COVID-19 Pandemic in the U.S.

  • COVID-19 pandemic forces college education to be rapidly switched from face-to-face education into remote education. Two inconsistent findings exist in previous study about remote learning. First, studies before COVID-19 pandemic found remote learning is an effective method, which provided students with higher achievement and improved their work-life balance. However, studies showed remote learning during COVID-19 pandemic is not as effective as expected because of technical issues, lack of motivations and even mental health issues. Second, findings from studies about remote learning impacts on workload and productivity during COVID-19 are also inconsistent. Therefore, this study aims to quantitatively measure college students' workload and productivity during COVID-19 of different types of tasks to provide a comprehensive and latest evaluation on remote learning. The findings of this study show remote learning slightly increases college students' total listening and speaking tasks workload, total reading and writing tasks workload. Furthermore, phone call, in-person meeting, online meeting and email workload increase significantly in remote learning. However, productivity for both listening and speaking, reading and writing tasks decreases after remote learning but no significant changes of productivity are found.

  • This paper describes Web based education technique. We implemented a remote compile system with 8051 micro controller. It implemented the system in this paper so that a learner compiled 8051 control programs to the remote. Most big restriction subject is the control of the hardware in an engineering field even though it implements a remote education system. We download the Java Application to Java Web Start and execute in this system. In this paper the learner controls 8051 executions in Web to the remote and implemented so that we confirmed the action. The supplementary problem will be the construction of a remote education system which offeres existing text and sound information, flash animation.

  • We propose the architecture for the bidirectional remote educational system using the APII(Asia-Pacific II) international network. The proposed system was imported function of the VoIP and Web storage with Access Grid System for adopting the various cooperating methods of the remote education, and also implemented the network monitoring functions system using MRTG. Using the proposed methods, we have verified the performance and problems of implemented system through the real-time remote education using bidirectional communication between KOREA and Japan.

  • 멀티미디어를 이용한 원격 교육이 효과적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 동영상 정보의 효율적인 관리 기법이 개발되어야 한다. 이 때, 동영상의 실시간 처리를 위해서 동영상을 압축된 상태로 관리하고 검색할 수 있어야 한다. 현재 압축 동영상은 주로 MPEG-2를 이용한다. 따라서 멀티미디어를 이용한 원격 교육에서 동영상을 실시간으로 처리할 수 있도록 하기 위해서는 MPEG-2로 압축된 동영상 정보를 관리하고 검색하는 기법의 개발이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 원격 교육에서 가장 어려운 정보 관리 기술인 동영상 정보의 관리 기술에 대한 연구로 실시간 원격 교육에 사용할 수 있도록 MPEG-2 동영상 정보 관리 시스템 및 검색 기술을 개발하였다.
