  • The use of evidence is very important in scientific argumentation. This study investigated the types and levels of evidence in scientific argumentation in an elementary science class. 34 fourth graders in a class were selected as subjects, and argumentation was performed in seven lessons on 'Heat transfer and our lives' unit. Small group argumentation was recorded, transcribed and used as data for analyses. The analyses found the following results. First, in regard of the types of evidence, personal evidence dominated over authority-based evidence. Second, in the analysis of the levels of evidence, using inappropriate evidence was found to account for the highest percentage, followed by using appropriate evidence and just arguments without evidence. There were quite a lot of cases of arguments without evidence. It was found that the types and levels of evidence that students used could change depending on the relevance between experiments and argument tasks.

  • In the analysis and design of reinforced concrete frames beam-column joints are sometimes assumed as rigid. This simplifying assumption can be unsafe because it is likely to affect the distributions of internal forces and moments, reduce drift and increase the overall load-carrying capacity of the frame. This study is concerned with the relevance of shear deformation of beam-column joints, in particular of exterior ones, on the quasi-static behavior of regular reinforced concrete sway frames. The included parametric studies of a simple sub-frame model reveal that the quasi-static monotonic behavior of unbraced regular reinforced concrete frames is prone to be significantly affected by the deformation of beam-column joints.

  • The real-time detection of malware remains an open issue, since most of the existing approaches for malware categorization focus on improving the accuracy rather than the detection time. Therefore, finding a proper balance between these two characteristics is very important, especially for such sensitive systems. In this paper, we present a fast portable executable (PE) malware detection system, which is based on the analysis of the set of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) called by a program and some technical PE features (TPFs). We used an efficient feature selection method, which first selects the most relevant APIs and TPFs using the chi-square ($KHI^2$) measure, and then the Phi (${\varphi}$) coefficient was used to classify the features in different subsets, based on their relevance. We evaluated our method using different classifiers trained on different combinations of feature subsets. We obtained very satisfying results with more than 98% accuracy. Our system is adequate for real-time detection since it is able to categorize a file (Malware or Benign) in 0.09 seconds.

  • The purpose of this study is mainly directed towards present of viewpoints on critical and commentary analysis on blood rheology, blood viscosity models, and physiological flow conditions. Understanding these basics is fundamental to meet the need for a sufficient and reliable CFD model of blood. Most of the used viscosity models on this manner have determined from parameter fitting on experimental viscosity data. Availability of experimental data from literature to define viscosity models of CFD analysis should be accurately chosen and treated in order to avoid any errors. Several basic gaps that limit the CFD model results are identified and given opportunities for future research.

  • The economic relevance of Web applications increases the importance of controlling and improving their quality. Moreover the new available technologies for the development allow the insertion of sophisticated funcations, but often leave the developers responsible for the organization and evolution. As a consequence, a high demand is emerging for methodologis and tools for quality assurance of Web based systems. In this paper, a UML model of Web applications is inroduced for their high level representation and concept of the verification and validation activities. In this paper proposed analysis algorithm that was based on Domestic Website and presented result through experiments.

  • The aim of this paper is to propose an integrative definition of key account management (KAM) at the organizational level through a content analysis of the existing definitions of KAM available in the business literatures. A representative pool of definitions of key account management was generated through literature review from twenty three journals that covers the divergence of name variety like global account management, strategic account management, national account management, international key account management, key client management, major account management, key customers management and key account management. Relating to the definition of key account management various attributes are identified through content analysis and according to the relevance, profile for each attributes are developed. On the basis of these attributes a diagrammatic and textual definition is proposed that covers the different standpoints and aspects of key account management approach and captures its essence as well. Eventually, several strategic implications are derived that create the field for further empirical investigation.

  • This paper is intended to show the robustness and capabilities of a coupled boundary element-finite element technique for the analysis of vibrations generated by high-speed trains under different geometrical, mechanical and operation conditions. The approach has been developed by the authors and some results have already been presented. Nevertheless, a more comprehensive study is presented in this paper to show the relevance and robustness of the method which is able to predict vibrations due to train passage at the vehicle, the track, the free-field and any structure close to the track. Local soil discontinuities, underground constructions such as underpasses, and coupling with nearby structures that break the uniformity of the geometry along the track line can be represented by the model. Non-linear behaviour of the structures can be also considered. Results concerning the excitation mechanisms, track behaviour and sub-Rayleigh and super-Rayleigh train speed are summarized in this work.

  • This study investigates the WTO dispute over Japanese fishery products originated from Fukushima and another seven prefectures. Being subject to an import ban and additional radioactive test requirements, Japan complained that the Korean government's trade measures are inconsistent with the principles of the Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures. This paper considered the contrasting judicial decisions made by the Panel and Appellate Body and analyzed the debates with respect to their trade-discriminatory effects (Article 2.4), the relevance of appropriate level of protection (Article 5.6) and the precautionary approaches (Article 5.7). Consistent with the final rulings, this paper identifies the need for a broaden understanding of regional conditions and qualitative aspects of protection in risk analysis. Findings also suggest that Korea has diverted its fishery imports from Japan to other countries, while Japan has created export diversion from Korea to other destinations.

  • User reviews posted in the application market show high relevance with the satisfaction of application users and its significance has been proven from numerous studies. User reviews are also crucial data as they are essential for improving applications after its release. However, as infinite amounts of user reviews are posted per day, application developers are unable to examine every user review and address them. Simply addressing the reviews in a chronological order will not be enough for an adequate user satisfaction given the limited resources of the developers. As such, the following research suggests a systematical method of analyzing user reviews with a cost-benefit analysis, in which the benefit of each user review is quantified based on the number of positive/negative words and the cost of each user review is quantified by using function point, a technique that measures software size.

  • This study examined bag purchase behaviors for male consumers based on fashion attitudes. Data research were conducted on 304 males in their 20s and 30s located in Seoul & Gyeonggi province. The SPSS 17.0 software program was used to conduct data analyses such descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, $X^2$-test, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe's test as a post-hoc analysis. The results of this study were as follows: Fashion attitude was identified with four factors personality, social recognition, practicality, and dignity. Customers were segmented into three subdivisions: conspicuous, recognition of individual style, and practicality of clothing. The factors derived from the factor analysis of selection criteria included intrinsic attributes and extrinsic attributes. Males in their 30s valued the intrinsic attributes and males in their 20s valued extrinsic attributes. The group of conspicuous of clothing, valued both intrinsic and extrinsic attributes as important. The factors derived from the factor analysis of bag pursuit benefit included pursuit of fashion/economic, famous brand, quality/convenience. Males in their 20s and 30s pursued famous luxury brands and fashion attitudes had a positive relevance to the bag pursuit benefit.
