  • Estimation of daily and seasonal evaportranspiration is essential for water resource planning irrigation feasibility study, and real-time irrigation water management . This paper is to evaluate the applicability of neural networks to the estimation of evapotranspiration . A neural network was developed to forecast daily evapotranspiration of the rice crop. It is a three-layer network with input, hidden , and output layers. Back-propagation algorithm with delta learning rule was used to train the neural network. Training neural network wasconducted usign daily actural evapotranspiration of rice crop and daily climatic data such as mean temperature, sunshine hours, solar radiation, relative humidity , and pan evaporation . During the training, neural network parameters were calibrated. The trained network was applied to a set of field data not used in the training . The created response of the neural network was in good agreement with desired values. Evaluating the neural networ performance indicates that neural network may be applied to the estimation of evapotranspiration of the rice crop.

  • In automatic map generalization, the formalization of cartographic principles is important. This study proposes and evaluates the selection method for road network generalization that analyzes existing maps using reverse engineering and formalizes the selection rules for the road network. Existing maps with a 1:5,000 scale and a 1:25,000 scale are compared, and the criteria for selection of the road network data and the relative importance of each network object are determined and analyzed using $T{\ddot{o}}pfer^{\prime}s$ Radical Law as well as the logistic regression model. The selection model derived from the analysis result is applied to the test data, and road network data for the 1:25,000 scale map are generated from the digital topographic map on a 1:5,000 scale. The selected road network is compared with the existing road network data on the 1:25,000 scale for a qualitative and quantitative evaluation. The result indicates that more than 80% of road objects are matched to existing data.

  • Purpose : The goal of this descriptive research study was to identify the relationship between t relative deprivation, absolute deprivation, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and social support of university students and their show-off behavior on social network services (SNSs), as well as to identify the influencing factors. Methods : The research tools consisted of 8 items for general characteristics, a measure of deprivation (9 items for relative deprivation and 8 items for absolute deprivation), 15 items for show-off behavior on SNSs, 10 items for self-esteem, 25 items for social support, and 20 items for self-efficacy. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 22.0 program for the descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results : The results showed relative deprivation (B=.102, t=4.060, p<.001) was the most important factor in show-off behavior on SNSs for university students. Furthermore, social support (B=-.178, t=-3.099, p=.002), absolute deprivation (B=-.175, t=-4.284, p<.001), and self-esteem (B=-.212, t=-2.490, p=.014) accounted for 21.5% of the explanatory power (F=14.215, p<.001). Conclusion : The study findings revealed that relative deprivation is the most important factor in the show-off behavior of university students on SNSs. Social support, absolute deprivation, and self-esteem were also identified as factors that affect their show-off behavior on such services. This study aims to contribute to the effective program progress by providing basic data for the development of the show-off behavior on SNSs intervention and prevention programs to reduce the side effects of various the show-off behaviors on SNSs of university students.

  • Chemical processes are highly nonlinear, multivariable systems and have complex structures. However, the controllability evaluation procedures are complicated, and the required information is very often unknown at the early design stage. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a procedure to evaluate and enhance controllability while designing processes and plants. To evaluate controllability in the design stage, it is most efficient to analyze process structure. Relative order can be used as a measure of 'physical closeness' between input and output variable. Structural controllability analysis using relative order is shown to be effective in a case study of heat exchanger network synthesis.

  • In this paper, we attempted a qualitative understanding of mutual injection locking without rigorous mathematics, and analyzed the proposed mutual injection locked light source. Also, a low-cost WDM-PON light source based on mutual injection locking using two unpolarized Fabry-Perot Laser Diodes (F-P LDs), was implemented. The RIN (Relative Intensity Noise) characteristic for the wavelength change of the F-P LD was measured, and when the variable wavelength range was 2.07 nm, it showed a RIN of at least -110 dB/Hz.

  • As the internet service evolves fast recently, guarantee request of QoS (Quality of Service) by characteristic of traffic source as well as high rate of data is going greatest. Accordingly intemet service technology also is changing rapidly, technology that guarantee QoS in existent network service technology is developed or network model that guarantee new QoS is presented. By DiffServ-aware-MPLS network that present in IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to guarantee QoS in this treatise does comparative analysis with existent network model, relative show that is superior, and present direction that compose next generation network wish to.

  • We consider connection-oriented wireless cellular networks such as the second generation wireless cellular networks and wirelss ATM networks. In these networks, a separate forward signaling channel is provided for the transmission of paging and channel allocation packets. When a call destined to a user is requested, all the base stations in the user's current location area broadcast the corresponding paging packet across forward signaling channels. By slot mode operation and paging group allocation for fusers in a location area, we can reduce relative power consumption level at battery-operated terminals. However, a sthe number of paging groups is increased for lowering relative power consumption level, a paging packet experiences higher delay to access the forward signaling channel. For the pre-negotiated quality-of-service level, paging packet delay level must be limited. In this paper, we consider static and dynamic multiplexing schemes for paging packets, and develop an analytical method for calculating paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels. Using this analytial method, we investigate the effect of network parameters on the paging packet delay and relative power consumption levels.

  • This study investigates market barriers in increasing the market share of Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFVs). In particular, this study first conceptualizes the AFVs market model with the aid of generic system archetypes suggested by Wolstenholme. Among four generic system archetypes suggested by Wolstenholme, the market structure of AFVs can be explained by the 'relative achievement' archetype. Starting from the generic system archetype, this study extends the model boundary step by step to take account of various model assumptions necessary to simulate the model numerically. If there is a significant network effect on vehicle operating costs, it is difficult to achieve the shift to AFVs even in the long term without a policy intervention because the car market is locked into the current structure. There are several possible policy options to break the 'locked-in' structure of the car market, such as subsidies on vehicles, subsidies on fuels, and a niche management policy.

  • In analysis of pipelines or pipe network we calculated the friction loss using Hazen-Williams or Manning formula approximately, or found one by friction coefficient from Moody diagram graphically. The friction coefficient is determined as a function of relative roughness and Reynolds number. But the calculated friction coefficient by Hazen-Williams or Manning formula considered roughness of pipe or velocity of flow. The friction coefficient in Darcy-Weisbach equation was obtained from the Moody diagram. This method is manual and is not exact from reading. This paper is presented numerical solution of Colebrook-White formula including variables of relative roughness and Reynolds number. The suggested subroutine program by an efficient linear iteration scheme can be applied to any pipe network system.
