Factors causing deterioration of concrete structures under marine environment are various, especially penetration and diffusion of chloride ion, carbon dioxide, and water through pore effects on the durability of concrete as well as mechanical properties of concrete. Pore of porous materials like concrete can be classified as micro-, meso-, and macro-pore. And pore of cement matrix is classified as pore which occupied by water, air void, and ITZ between cement paste and aggregates. In this study, to verify the relationship between pore of cement matrix and the property of chloride ion diffusivity, the regression analysis is producted. From the result of regression analysis, the average pore diameter more than total pore volume effects on the diffusivity of chloride ion.
In the present paper experimental and numerical analysis of hook-ended steel fiber reinforced concrete is carried out. The experimental tests are performed on notched beams loaded in 3-point bending using fiber volume fractions up to 1.5%. The numerical analysis of fiber reinforced concrete beams is performed at meso scale. The concrete is discretized with 3D solid finite elements and microplane model is used as a constitutive law. The fibers are modelled by randomly generated 1D truss finite elements, which are connected with concrete matrix by discrete bond-slip relationship. It is demonstrated that the presented approach, which is based on the modelling of concrete matrix using microplane model, able to realistically replicate experimental results. In all investigated cases failure is due to the pull-out of fibers. It is shown that with increase of volume content of fibers the effective bond strength and slip capacity of fibers decreases.
In a robot/vision system, the vision sensor, typically a CCD array sensor, is mounted on the robot hand. The problem of determining the relationship between the camera frame and the robot hand frame is refered to as the hand-eye calibration. In the literature, various methods have been suggested to calibrate camera and for sensor registration. Recently, one-step approach which combines camera calibration and sensor registration is suggested by Horaud & Dornaika. In this approach, camera extrinsic parameters are not need to be determined at all configurations of robot. In this paper, by modifying the camera model and including the lens distortion effect in the perspective transformation matrix, a new one-step approach is proposed in the hand-eye calibration.
In this paper, we present recursive algorithms for state space model identification using subspace extraction via Schur complement. It is shown that an estimate of the extended observability matrix can be obtained by subspace extraction via Schur complement. A relationship between the least squares residual and the Schur complement matrix obtained from input-output data is shown, and the recursive algorithms for the subspace-based state-space model identification (4SID) methods are developed. We also proposed the above algorithm for an instrumental variable (IV) based 4SID method. Finally, a numerical example of the application of the algorithms is illustrated.
Structural studies have been performed on precipitation hardening discovered in $Ll_2$-ordered $Ni_3$(Al,Cr) containing 0.2 and 0.5 mol% of carbon in terms of transmission electron microscopy(TEM). By aging at temperatures around 1073 K after solution treatment at 1423 K, fine polyhedral precipitates appear firstly on the dislocations and then in the matrix. The selected area electron diffraction (SAED) studies revealed that these particles are a $M_{23}C_6$ type carbide which has the cube-cube orientation relationship with the matrix lattice. Weak-beam electron microscopy observations of deformation induced dislocations suggested that the dislocations bypass the carbide particles during deformation.
This paper deals with the topological observability analysis and the derivation of a reliability evaluation formula of a measurement system for state estimation. An analogy of the DC power flow method to the DC circuit analysis is introduced, and all the relationship between power flows and phase angles are replaced by the corresponding current-voltage relation. As a result, a set of topological measurement equation expressed in the form of the incidence matrix is derived for the topological analysis, and the observability test is carried out by examining the rank of the measurement matrix. The reliability evaluation formula was derived experimentally by testing the observability of sample systems of IEEE-14, IEEE-3.0, IEEE-57.
The purpose of this paper is to describe a new analytic method of capital budgeting projects that takes into account both customer wants and competitor's status and to give decision makers a tool for goal setting and planning for technology. This model, which is based on quality function deployment(QFD), has used the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) to determine the intensity of the relationship between the variables involved in each matrix of the model and the 0-1 integer programming to determine the allocation of funds to various technological projects. This paper also proposes how to calculate the new weight of columns to consider various strength levels of roof matrix, representing the correlation among the quality characteristics, using Lymsn's normalization procedure. To compare this model with Partovi's model, 1 adapt the same example which is suggested by Partovi and I show that the value of object function, has maximization problem, in this model is larger than that in Partovi's model.
There are many difficulties to get the scattered field generated by obstacle which has arbitrary shape or irregular surface impedance by using analytic solution or numerical methods. In this study, we propose experimental method of acoustic scattering holography that can predict the far-field scattered field based on nearfield measurements. In particular we can get the scattered fields of each wave-number components of incident fields. We express the relationship of wave-number components between incident fields and scattered fields using scattering matrix which is transfer matrix of wave-number components. Lastly, we prove the relation between wave-number components of incident and scattered field by experiments. The errors which are caused by measurements and decomposition methods are also analyzed.
The exterior finish not only has a relationship to the functionality of building, but also the spatial aesthetics and visual perception. Common exterior finishes are wood, stone or acrylic based and etc. However, these finishes have different attributes which can alter the quality of the architecture, such as durability, moisture and fire resistance. To make up for the short-comings of these materials, we have used iron based resources for optimization. However, iron materials are expensive, so they have limitations in general use. In this study, we have experimented with various forms of exterior finishes using cement, which is the most efficient and widely used building material with several economic advantages. We experimented with different materials to use as the formwork for the gloss of the cement matrix. As a result, the gloss show that order of urethane, steel, and wood material.
By using Frenet formulation and Timoshenko beam theory, the partial differential equations of motion are derived for a helical spring having a doubly symmetrical cross section subjected to the pre-load axially. These equations of motion are solved to give the dispersion relationship and dynamic stiffness matrix is assembled. Natural frequencies are obtained from the receptance of the system. The results of the dynamic stiffness method are compared with those of the transfer matrix method from published examples and finite element method.
