The franchise system has become more widely adopted by Korean distribution industries than before as foreign direct investment is liberalized in these industries. However, a number of problems has arisen between franchisers and franchisees recently. In this regard, the objective of this study is to identify problems arisen between franchisers and franchisees of convenience store operation. More specifically, this paper investigates how credibility between two parties is affected by the internal political structures, including bureaucratic structure and relational norms, and impact strategies of franchisers. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : Under rapidly changing channel environment, credibility between franchisers and franchisees tend to be characterized as the bureaucratic structure rather than relational norms. This result suggests that franchisees are more likely to recognize the power of franchisers in Korean convenience stores. This paper also shows that the adoption of coercive impact strategies decreases credibility and vice versa. The results of this paper suggest following implications. In order to have mutually beneficial relationship franchisers and franchisees have to share benefits and costs incurred by their convenience store operation, and to raise their ability to revise contract terms to accommodate changes in external environments. It is also important for the development of convenience store operation to construct more efficient relationship between franchisers and franchisees by adopting supportive norms rather than opportunistic ones.

Real estate markets play an essential role in the economic development of both developed and developing countries. Investment decisions in private real estate demand the consideration of several qualitative and quantitative criteria. Especially in Vietnam, demand for housing, apartments are rising which has resulted because of the migration from rural to urban areas. This study aims to determine the influencing factors of the real estate purchasing behavior and then recommend a grey Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) support model to evaluate real estate alternatives based on a numerical example in Vietnam. A set of essential criteria are identified based on experts' opinion, and the proposed determinants are initial investment, maintenance cost, prestige location, distance to interesting places, parking lot, public transportation, property condition, total area size, number of rooms, and neighbors. The subjective weights were obtained by using the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) model, and the Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) technique is employed to prioritize and rank real estate alternatives. The results reveal that this approach can be useful to make purchasing decisions for many kinds of real estate property under uncertain business environments. These findings indicate that the presented hybrid model has advantages in granting flexibility to the preferences of decision makers.
This paper aims to explore how relational constructs(supplier's idiosyncratic investment, retailer's dependence, and dyadic communication) impact the buyer's trust across the relationship lifecycle. Companies make great efforts to create trust and maintain long-term relationship with buyers. Buyer and supplier relationships evolve through distinct lifecycles. In each phase, buyers and suppliers exhibit different patterns of behaviour. Also, they have different attitudes toward, and expectation of, one another. In this study, the final outcome investigated is long-term orientation from the buyer's perspective. Data were collected from 296 survey questionnaires of retailers engaging in Crops Protected Material industry in Korea. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to purify the measurement scales. And structural equation analysis and Chow test were used to test the hypotheses. The result indicates that the effect of retailer's dependence on the trust is greatest. Especially, the effect of dependence is growing as the relationship has developed. Supplier's idiosyncratic investment increases trust in the early phase, while it is not found to affect trust in the maturity phase. In the early phase, the determination of trust begins to be increasingly influenced by partner's relationship investment only because other clues are not observed yet. Reciprocal communication has a positive effect on trust, and long-term orientation is directly influenced by retailer's trust. Communication's effect is greater in the build-up phase than in the maturity phase. A limitation of this study is the unequal sample size in each of the relationship phases. Literature has suggested that the effects of relational constructs on outcomes are different across relationship phases. This study shows that different relational constructs have different effects on trust depending upon the relationship phase.
This study is an empirical analysis of export performance according to the type of GVC participation and governance of Korean manufacturing companies. Based on panel data from KOSPI listed firms, it was analyzed that relational investment, information exchange, and innovation affect the level of supply chain integration and corporate performance with the moderating role of trust. In addition, it was found that the degree of integration of the supply chain affects GSCM's performance and export performance. In case of the type of GVC governance, it was analyzed that the higher the integration strength, the higher the performance compared to other types. This result shows that trust-based supply chain integration and continuous GVC investment are very important. This explains that high levels of GVC governance, along with high integration strength, can lead to successful GSCM performance. Innovative investment strategies based on the relationship capabilities and trust levels of GVC participating companies can have a positive effect on the degree of global partnership formation and integration.
In this study, we examined distribution channel relationship by using the idea of Cheong, which is a unique feeling an positive role in Korean society. Companies make great efforts to maintain long-term relationship with buyers. Understanding distinctive relationship system of each culture should precede these efforts to bring effective results. So we considered how Cheong, a meaningful factor in Korean distribution channel, affects relationship quality and performance. As a result of research analysis from 272 survey questionnaires of retailers, engaging in Crops Protected Material industry in Korea, supplier's idiosyncratic investment, retailer's Cheong, and dependence of retailers on suppliers have positive effects on relationship quality. Supplier's idiosyncratic investment and cognitive factors have the highest influence and Cheong, an emotional factor, follows. Dependence, a motivational factor has the least influence. We confirmed that retailer's cooperation and long-term orientation are directly influenced by retailer's commitment. Active cooperation of the retailer, a partner of a distribution channel, is regarded as an essential factor for supplier's effective business. Retailer's commitment increased that cooperation. Retailer's trust and commitment also decreased relationship conflicts. The results of this study imply that companies should increase idiosyncratic investment to improve relationship quality. But increasing idiosyncratic investment is limited because it requires monetary investment. Therefore companies need to recognize the importance of Cheong, revealed as a new factor, improving relationship quality and to make the best use of it. In this study, we contributed theoretically by examining the role of Cheong, and introducing its distribution discipline. We also make practical suggestions about supplier's relationship management.

The objective of this study is to investigate the impact of firm's various kind of characteristics on the oust in the supply chains between the textile makers and the retailers. Based on the preceding literature review. six hypotheses are proposed. To test the proposed hypotheses, data were collected utilizing questionnaires from 68 retailers(fashion shop). To analyze the data the SPSSWin statistical package was employed. Two(H4 and H6) out of six hypotheses were accepted, the others were rejected. According to the results, the greater the impact of the shared value and the reputation for the retailers on the textile maker is, the stronger the trust of the retailers in the textile maker is. Based on the research results, we can conclude that the trust management is a very important factor in the supply chains between the textile makers and the retailers.
In this paper, various definitions of IT Governance and its elements are reviewed. It seems that generally, there is no big difference in definitions and the elements of IT Governance among researchers. However, it is found that some variables which are not appropriate for its definition were used in many IT Governance research. It is also found that IT Governance research in foreign countries have been focused on structure, process, and relational mechanism. I think that the primary goal of IT Governance should be building an effective IT management system. If desirable structure and principles for IT management are established and observed strictly, we can expect desirable behavior in IT management. As a result, expected outcomes and benefits through IT investment could be possibly realized. Therefore, IT Governance research should be focused on building IT Governance systems. This paper suggests a framework for the future IT Governance research.
Recently, International commerce has continuously expanded with the development of logistics technology. However, the cost of international logistics is rising rapidly. The Korea International Trade Association (2021) proposes that the use of international commercial terms in Incoterms® could be an effective way against logistics costs. The purpose of this study is to verify the effect on the flexible operation of international commercial terms. For the detection of variables and data collection for empirical analysis based on previous studies and in-depth interviews. The questionnaires were distributed after pilot-study to a random sample of companies based on the list of members such as the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, and the Global Small and Medium Business Association. A total of 800 questionnaires were distributed, and 166 were used for empirical analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, mutual cooperation and Flexibly using of international commercial terms has a positive (+) effect on logistics efficiency. This is in line with the study of Yang (2021) and Stojanović et al. (2021) that logistics by using international commercial terms will increase the efficiency of logistics. Second, use of international commercial terms based on mutual understanding mediates the relationship between the logistics environment of the other country and the logistics efficiency. As in the study of Vidrova (2020), it is important to operate on international commercial terms mutually.
Korean traditional markets have been struggling of late as big-sized superstores and SSM(Super Supermarkets) are thriving in the market. They have therefore upgraded their facilities and undertaken management modernization actively to overcome the threat to traditional markets and ensure their competitiveness; however, the effect does not appear to be verifiable. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the organizational characteristics of the traditional market merchant association on social capital and organizational performance. In other words, this paper investigates a merchant association's organizational characteristics in terms of the modernization of business activities of the traditional markets and the influence on their social capital and organizational performance. This study analyzes the traditional market by evaluating the impact of these factors. This study consists of four hypotheses: The first hypothesis relates to the causal relationship between the characteristics of a merchant association and social capital. The second and third hypotheses, respectively, relate to the causal relationships between the social capital of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction and that between the social capital of a merchant association and organizational commitment. The last hypothesis relates to the relationship between the organizational commitment of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction. This study conducts a reliability and validity analysis of the above factors and analyzes the causal relationships between them by using the PLS(Partial Least Squares) path model as one of the structural equation models. The results of the empirical analysis are summarized as follows: First, the organizational characteristics of the traditional market merchant association have a significant influence on social capital. However, only two sub-hypotheses are not significant; these insignificant hypotheses relate to the relationship between a merchant's entrepreneurship and structural capital and that between a merchant's entrepreneurship and cognitive capital. Second, the social capital of a merchant association influences organizational commitment significantly. Third, the relationship between the social capital of a merchant association and the merchant's satisfaction is mostly significant. However, one of the sub-hypotheses, that is, the relationship between relational capital and a merchant's satisfaction is not exceptionally significant. Lastly, the organizational commitment of a merchant association affect the merchant's satisfaction significantly. Through our extensive study, this paper found that a merchant association's organizational characteristics of the traditional market significantly affect social capital, organizational commitment, and satisfaction through the mediation of social capital. Therefore, in order to activate the key traditional market, an understanding of organizational characteristics and social capital is primarily required. Systematic management and investment pertaining to these two factors will be the first consideration for revitalizing traditional markets.
This article examines psychological factors that contribute to educational achievement of Korean adolescents. By reviewing empirical research, three core areas are outlined. First, positive and negative roles that Korean society play on academic achievement are analyzed. Compared to other countries, Korean society places a high premium, pressure an investment on educational achievement. This has contributed to the rapid economic growth and development, but at the same time it has created numerous social problems. Second, psychological and relational dynamics of investing in and achieving success in education are delineated. Through indigenous psychological analysis, the role parents play in motivating and regulating their children to succeed academically is reviewed. In addition, the role of teachers and friends and the coordinated efforts of Korean society are outlined. Third, future directions and transformations in education that are needed in Korean society are discussed. Although Korean adolescents are high achievers in high school, this is not the case at the university level. Since Korean students are interested in entering a prestigious university, they have developed skills in doing well in standardized tests. Educational reforms need to take into consideration individuals' personal interests, skills and creativity to ensure that the knowledge that they acquired can be used to further their career and improve their subjective well-being. Educational transformation does not imply simply adopting Western models, but developing indigenous models that can maximize human and cultural potential and stimulate curiosity, diversity and creativity that are necessary in the global era.
