Performance of Cognitive Radio Systems Based on Multiple Orthogonal Sequences (다중 직교 시퀀스를 이용한 인지 무선 시스템의 성능)

  • Ad hoc networks can be used under difficult conditions, where it is difficult to construct infrastructures, such as shadowing areas, disaster areas, war area, and so on. In order to support to considerable and various wireless services, more spectrum resources are needed. However, efficient utilization of the frequency resource is difficult because of spectrum scarcity and the conventional frequency regulation. Ad-hoc networks employing cognitive radio(CR) system that guarantee high spectrum utilization provide effective way to increase the network capacity. However, there is a problem that all CR user do not fairly use the primary user's idle bandwidth which has been sensed. In this paper, to solve this problem, we propose the spectrum sharing algorithm which uses the multiple orthogonal sequences based on the code division multiple access(CDMA). From the proposed algorithm, it is expected that system performance of CR based ad-hoc network is improved significantly and it can be applied to the implementation of CR based ad-hoc network system.

  • Ad-hoc networks can be used various environment, which it is difficult to construct infrastructures, such as shadowing areas, disaster areas, war area, and so on. In order to support to considerable and various wireless services, more spectrum resources are needed. However, efficient utilization of the frequency resource is difficult because of spectrum scarcity and the conventional frequency regulation. Ad-hoc networks employing cognitive radio(CR) system that guarantee high spectrum utilization provide effective way to increase the network capacity. In conventional CR based ad-hoc network, it uses constant threshold value to detect primary user signal, so the results become not reliable. In this paper, to solve this problem, we apply adaptive threshold value to the CR based ad-hoc network, and adaptive threshold is immediately changed by SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio). From the simulation results, we confirmed that proposed algorithm has the greatly better detection probabilities than conventional CR based ad-hoc network.

  • The nursing home for the elderly has a weak point for evacuation from the fire because most of all the users are suffering from a dementia or paralysis. When it comes to night shift, it is much difficult to get them evacuated due to the lack of staffs. In addition to that, the nursing home for the elderly has such a strict control system for access that does not have a utility for escape opening. That is why they need the differentiated evacuation planning. This study is to consider the point at issues on the present conditions of law, system, and evacuation plans for the nursing home for the elderly that has some difficulties because of impaired functions of residences. This study dealt with the point at facilities and operations of the emergency evacuation system. First of all, for the point at the facilities, I found that it need to be considered on the characteristics of the elderly who has any difficulties of the self evacuation. And the established regulation did not reflect the characteristics of closed area of the nursing home for the elderly. The second, for the point at the operation of the institutions, it is pointed that there seems to be a lack of ways to manage to a emergency situation and educations on the operation staff. And the last, for the point at the operation, the requirement for the managers of fire prevention facilities are similar to that of a normal building. Furthermore there is a lack of corporation with the fire station.

Busan building height regulations for the management of mountain landscape: focused on the skyline of Hwangreung Mountain (부산시 산지경관 관리를 위한 건축물 높이 규제 방법에 관한 연구: 황령산 산림스카이라인을 중심으로)

  • The high-rise buildings have been indiscriminately located in the good natural landscape in Busan. They destroy the mountain skyline that is the key role of urban landscape and lower the index of greenness. Busan need the efficient management methods of the mountain skyline to improve the quality of urban life, the amenity of urban landscape, and the index of greenness. This study is to propose the method of building height restriction both through the GIS bases multiple sight surface analysis and through the analysis of the floor area ratio to make up for the weakness of single sight surface analysis has been used as a means of building height restriction. It studies the residential district with Hwangreung Mountain in the background at Deeyeon-don, Nam-gu, Busan. It achieves both objectivity and time efficiency by multiple sight surface analysis. Reflecting the result of this simulation at strategic viewpoints, it enables landscape planning to be comprehensive. Lastly it suggests building height regulation for protecting the mountain skyline which responds to the local conditions.

A Study on the Environmental Carrying Capacity Assessment of Chongju City (도시 환경용량평가에 관한 연구 -청주시를 사례로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the environmental carrying capacity of Chongju City for the environmental management and the urban growth management. The urban environmental carrying capacity assessment of the city by the index of ecological footprint(EF), shows that the ecosystem of the city has been overloaded and most of the deficiencies has come from outside of the city. The EF index, the area of land per capita required for production and consumption in the city, was 1.731 ha per capita in 1989 and 1.901 ha per capita in 1999. On the other side, the ecologically productive land is 0.0175 ha per capita. It means that every citizen owes 1.88 ha per capita to the ecosystem in 1999. The land consumption of the city has increased by 0.1705 ha per capita during the last 10 years. The capacity of infrastructure and the service supply estimated by the Onishi model does not exceed the demand of the city in 1999. But the rapidly increasing population and fast urban growth need the expansion of the capacity. The water supply capacity of the city appears to be sufficient in 1999, but the water supply demand will increase in the future. The capacity of sewage treatment facilities seems to be sufficient, but the higher level of sewage treatment facilities should be adopted for the improvement of water quality as the generation of sewage will increase and its characteristics will also make the wastewater treatment difficult. Due to the decrease of solid waste generated, the land fill capacity for solid waste disposal is not insufficient at present, but the capacity will be saturated in the near future. Therefore, the scientific management system of solid wastes should be introduced. The air quality of the city meets both the national air quality standard and WHO recommendation standard, but the strong regulation and control of automobile emission gas such as CO, $CO_2$, NOx and HC is required for clean air.

Remodeling of the Epidermis during Skin Wound Healing in Bombina orientalis (무당개구리 (Bombina orientalis) 피부 상처치유과정 중 표피의 재형성)

  • Remodeling of epithelial cells during wound healing in the skin of the Korean fire-bellied toad, Bombina orientalis, were examined using the scanning and transmission electron microscopical analyses. Artificial wounds were induced on the dorsal surface of the skin by excision, and reared in special cages with normal diets for up to 31 days after injury. From 4 days after wounding, regenerated epithelial cells are more rapidly migrated to wounding area, and remodeling of tissue components are proceeded gradually. Especially, formation of basal lamina between regenerated epithelium and dermis, and reconstruction of cellular junctions such as desmosomes (among the regenerated epithelial cells) and hemidesmosomes (between basal epithelial cells and basal lamina) are detected through fine structural analysis from 10 days after injury. Parakeratosis of regenerated epithelial cells observed during 16 to 19 days after wounding.

In this paper, to improve detection performance of the energy detection which is widely used in CR based ad-hoc network, we propose multiple antenna system for CR based ad-hoc networks.

A Study on the Development of Safety Performance Index in Chemical Industry (화학산업에서의 안전성능지수 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In order to maintain the continual safety management in a company, it needs to evaluate and monitor its implementation of safety management. Because the number of major-accidents is not an effective method of indicating company's safety performance, various efforts to develop more reasonable indicators have been made in world wide. After Korean government has legally required the PSM report, PSM compliance audit has been developed and made by the authorities concerned since 2005. However, this audit consists of complicate procedures difficult to utilize as companies' own audit program and corresponds to only a conformity check that confirms whether the PSM be operated and maintained properly. So a new index by which to measure easily the level of safety performance and self-monitor the implementation of safety management is needed. We have studied a new method that may quantitatively evaluate the performance of safety management by investigating application cases in foreign countries and doing the domestic survey of lots of companies subject to PSM regulation in Korea. This study proposes three of safety performance indices(SPI) together with the several prerequisite preconditions and the timing for application of each index. Although the first draft of SPI needs further legal support, it might help to evaluate every company's safety level. The second draft of SPI is a voluntarily evaluating method based on web-site online program. The last draft of SPI consists of a series of simple questions about 12 elements of PSM. Also each of 3 indices has differences in evaluation methodology and application area and, therefore, they may be used concurrently.

  • Establishment and operation of Aids to Navigation in the process of port design, construction and management are crucial factor of maritime safety and collision prevention. According to the IMO SOLAS Chapter 5, regulation 13, the establishment and operation of maritime safety facilities are mandated for the competent authorities. The facilities of Aids to Navigations are moving to a concept of e-Navigation with state-of-the-art technology of radio navigation equipments such as AIS, DGPS and e-Loran from the traditional visual facilities (optics, shape), Although the autonomous maritime traffic system is a new trend, yet the traditional and conventional Aids to Navigation like lighthouses and beacons are still imperative for vessel's safe navigation. In this paper, for decision of service level of maritime traffic facilities to enhance the efficiency of visual navigation system management it was proposed the Aids to Navigation availability as an efficient management system incorporating the whole maritime traffic facilities under one management system. Comparison of foreign level of services and analysis of the theoretical background of them were analyzed and the proposed LOS was applied to Incheon area to evaluate the safety of navigation routes.

A Study on Production, Dressing and Marketing of Broiler (육계생산과 도계유통에 관한 조사연구)

  • The Purpose of this study is to examine both supply and demand side of broiler chicken in Korea. Especially the paper aims to investigate the broiler chicken production Dressing and marketing pattern which may affect the demand for it. It is generally understood that broiler chicken production becomes unstable because of frequent market price fluctuation mainly due to disequilibrium of quantities demanded ana supplied It is important to point out that marketing in the form dressed chicken has been enforced by the regulation in Seoul area since March 1st, 1983, though live birds have been customarily marketed for year. It is assumed that the subsituation of chicken meat for beef would save foreign exchanges, because increasingly large amount of beef is imported mainly thanked to a chronical shortage in local production. Main findings of this study may be summarized as follows: 1) Broiler chicker production has been rapidly increased recently, estimating 180-200 million head per year with the trend of contineous increase year after year. Price fluctuation during the year is found, especially summer and winter mainly due to seasonal demand change. It is known that mal-funconing of broiler chicken market may be one of the causes for a large Price fluctuation. Accordingly the increase of marketing efficiency may reduce the price fluctuation and also positively impact on creating demand for the chicken consumption. 2) It is also interesting to note that 90 percent of broilers are grown on the floor and almost 86 percent of total broilers composed of so called high-bros, weighing on an average more than 1.6kg per head Approximately 8 weeks are required for of around marketing birds at the feed efficiency of around 2.3-2.5 Average broiler farm raises between 1,000 and 2,000 head, showing a quite small scale of operation. Only a few sampled farmers follow an all-in and all-out method in broiler production.
