In this study, Song-Cheon river Basin located at Dae-kwan-lyong Meyn in Kang-Won Province was monitored to analyze characteristics of non-point source pollution during the snowmelt period. The characteristics of NPS pollution such as runoff, change in water quality and pollutant loads by snowmelt were investigated from 23th February 2010 to 27th April 2010. The results showed that The climate change effects flow, turbidity and concentration of SS and COD with showing similar trend of fluctuation. Daily pollutant loads per unit area were SS 74.43 kg/ha/day, COD 1.25 kg/ha/day, BOD 0.21 kg/ha/day, TN 0.717 kg/ha/day, TP 0.141 kg/ha/day and the flow weight mean concentration has been SS 985.97 mg/L, COD 16.28 mg/L, BOD 2.67 mg/L, TN 9.302 mg/L, TP 1.834 mg/L, respectively. The flow and pollutant loads both of SS and of COD significantly increased during the snowmelt period. Because structurally loosen soil by freezing and thawing deteriorates water quality, research and management measures will be needed.
This study investigates a simple mathematical model for the quantitative estimation of regional myocardial blood flow in experimental canine coronary artery thrombosis using Rb-82 dynamic myocardial positron emission tomography. The coronary thrombosis was induced using the new catheter technique by narrowing the lumen of coronary vessel gradually, which finally led to partial obstruction of coronary artery. Ten Rb-82 dynamic myocardial PET scans were performed sequentially for each experiment using our 5, 10 and 20 second acquisition protocol, respectively, and three regions of interest were drawn on the transaxial slices, one on left ventricular chamber for input function and the other two on normal and decreased perfusion segments for the flow estimation in those regions. Single compartment model has been applied to the measured sets of regional PET data, and the rate constants of influx to myocardial tissue were calculated for regional myocardial flow estimates with the three parameter fits of raw data by the Levenberg-Marquardt method. The results showed that, (1) single compartment model suggested by Kety-Schmidt could be used for the simple estimation of regional myocardial blood flow, (2) the calculated regional myocardial blood flow estimates were dependent on the selection of input function, which reflected partial volume effect and left ventricular wall motion, and (3) mathematically fitted input and tissue time activity curves were more suitable than the direct application of the measured data in terms of convergence.
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of inner skin of chestnut on the activation of a living body's function (regional cerebral blood flow and mean arterial blood pressure in Sprague-Dawley rats, proliferation of thymocytes in normal mice and L1210 cells transplanted mice) . We used inner skin of chestnut extract(Sample A : inner skin of chestnut-panbroiled after driedextract (100$\^{C}$ ), Sample B , inner skin of chestnut-panbroiled-extract(100$\^{C}$ ) , Sample C : inner skin of chestnut -panbroiled after dried-extract(80$\^{C}$ ), Sample D : inner skin of chestnut-panbroiled-extract(80$\^{C}$)} Regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF) and Mean arterial blood pressure(MABP) were tested using Leser -Doppler Flowmetry(LDF), and the proliferation of thymcytes was tested using a colorimetric tetrazoliun assay ( MTT assay) The experimental results as follows 1. rCBF was significantly increased by Sample C in a dose-dependent manner. 2. MABP was not changed by Sample C in a 0.1mg/kg∼10.0mg/kg treated group. 3. Proliferation of thymocytes was not changed by Sample C in normal mice. 4. Proliferation of thymocytes was significantly accelerated by Sample C in L1210 cells transplanted mice.
In recent years, there has been demand for precise estimations of pollutant loads on nationwide scale for the development of appropriate site specific (watershed specific) policies to reduce the negative impact of pollutant loads. River flow data and water quality data that were previously collected by various research institutes and universities for specific research purposes for a limited period was utilized in this study. However, only TMDL 8-day interval flow and water quality data were available in national scale. Three watersheds were selected and pollutant loads were calculated by two methods i.e., Numeric Integration (NI) method and Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). Subsequently, the results were compared to determine the appropriate method for monitoring nonpoint source networks nationwide. The SWAT model was calibrated and its estimated daily flow data were used in the NI method with estimated sediment data for 8-day monitoring data for three watersheds. The results indicated that the quantity of pollutant loads estimated with the NI and SWAT are different to some degrees especially during the summer season for all the three study watersheds. Thus, more frequent sampling of water quality is needed for nonpoint source pollutant estimation.
In South Korea, Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) has been enforced since 2004 to restore and manage water quality in the watersheds. However, the appraisal of TMDL in South Korea has lots of weaknesses to establish the plan for recovery of water quality because it just evaluates the target water quality during the particular flow duration interval. In the United States, Load Duration Curve (LDC) method bas been widely used in the TMDL to evaluate the water quality and pollutant loads considering variation of stream flow. In a recent study, web-based Load Duration Curve system was developed to create the LDC automatically and provide the convenience of use. In this study, web-based Load Duration Curve system was applied in the Gapyeongcheon watershed using the daily flow and 8-day interval water quality data, and Q-L Rating Curve was used to evaluate the water quality and pollutant load in the watershed, also. As a result of study, water quality and pollutant load in Gapyeongcheon watershed were met with water quality standard and allocated load in the all flow durations. Web-based Load Duration Curve system could be applied to the appraisal of South Korean TMDL because it can be used to judge the impaired flow duration and build up the plan of load reduction, and it could enhance the publicity. But, web-based Load Duration Curve system should be enhanced through addition of load assessment tools such as Q-L rating curve to evaluate water quality and pollutant load objectively.

This research aims to demonstrate the regional and site scale groundwater flow simulation for the high level radioactive disposal research site in Yu-seong. We used the Modflow by a finite difference method for groundwater flow simulation, and Modpath module in Modflow package for particle tracking simulation. The range of numerical domain for regional groundwater flow model is $16.32km{\times}20.16km$. And, the depth of numerical domain was expanded to 6,000m. The area of numerical domain for the site scale groundwater flow simulation is $1.6km{\times}1.6km$. Since 2005, the underground research tunnel(URT) is being constructed at KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute) site. In the site scale groundwater flow model, the groundwater flow around the KAERI site is simulated. And the change of groundwater level with tunnel excavation is also predicted.

Particle deposition in human lungs was investigated theoretically by using asymmetric five-lobe lung model. The volumes of each of the five lobes were different, thereby forming an asymmetric lung structure. The tidal volume and flow rate of each lobe were scaled according to lobar volume. The total and regional deposition with various breathing patterns were calculated by means of tracking volume segments and accounting for particle loss during inhalation and exhalation. The deposition fractions were obtained for each airway generation and lung lobe, and dominant deposition mechanisms were investigated for different size particles. Results show that the tidal volume and flow rate have a characteristic influence on particle deposition. The total deposition fraction increases with an increase in tidal volume for all particle sizes. However, flow rate has dichotomous effects: a higher flow rate results in a sharp increase in deposition for large size particles, but decreases deposition for small size particles. Deposition distribution within the lung shifts proximally with higher flow rate whereas deposition peak shifts to the deeper lung region with larger tidal volume. Deposition fraction in each lobe was proportional to its volume. Among the three main deposition mechanisms, diffusion was dominant for particles < 0.5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ whereas sedimentation and impaction were most influential for larger size particles. Impaction was particularly dominant for particles> 8 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The results may prove to be useful for estimating deposition dose of inhaled pollutant particles at various breathing conditions.
This study dealed with the effects of the blood pressure and regional cerebral blood fIow(rCBF) on acupuncture and moxibustion treatment to the acu-point equivalent to K 1 of sprague dawley rats(SDR). Acupuncture treatment of K 1 significantly decreased BP in SDR. 2. Acupuncture treatment of K 1 significantly increased rCBF in SDR. 3. Moxibustion treatment of K 1 significantly increased BP in SDR. 4. Moxibustion treatment of K 1 significantly increased rCBF in SDR. These results suggest that acupuncture and moxibustion causes a diverse response of blood pressure and reginal cerebral blood flow. During the moxibustion treatment of K 1 increased BP and rCBF, but after moxibustion recorved BP and rCBF. During the acupunture tretment of K 1 decreased BP and then recorved, rCBF was significantly increased.
This study employs Bayesian multiple regression analysis using the ordinary least squares method for regional low flow frequency analysis. The parameter estimates using the Bayesian multiple regression analysis were compared to conventional analysis using the t-distribution. In these comparisons, the mean values from the t-distribution and the Bayesian analysis at each return period are not significantly different. However, the difference between upper and lower limits is remarkably reduced using the Bayesian multiple regression. Therefore, from the point of view of uncertainty analysis, Bayesian multiple regression analysis is more attractive than the conventional method based on a t-distribution because the low flow sample size at the site of interest is typically insufficient to perform low flow frequency analysis. Also, we performed low flow prediction, including confidence interval, at two ungauged catchments in the Nakdong River basin using the developed Bayesian multiple regression model. The Bayesian prediction proves effective to infer the low flow characteristic at the ungauged catchment.
This paper presents the effects and the regional power distribution of an increase or a decrease of a power reserve by load flow calculations under seasonal load patterns of each country for the future power shortages faced by the metropolitan areas or by the southeastern area of the South Korea in North-East Asia. In these connections, the types of a power transmission for interconnection consist of the 765kV HVAC and the HVDC. In this paper, the various cases of the power system interconnections in Far-East Asia are presented, and the resulting interconnected power systems are simulated by means of a power flow analysis performed with the PSS/E 28 version tool. The power flow map is drawn from data simulated and the comparative study is done. In this future, a power flow analysis will be considered to reflect the effects of seasonal power exchanges And the plan of assumed scenarios will be considered with maximum or minimum power exchanges during summer or winter in North-East Asia countries.
