  • The aim of this study is to examine the development of social economy and institutional isomorphism in Chungnam Province. Although 'social economy enterprises' in Chungnam Province achieved rapid quantitative growth, public-led policy and institutional framework has intensified institutional isomorphism. Institutional isomorphism is a phenomenon in which all type of organization and activities become similar in an institutional environment. This isomorphism hinders the social value orientation and innovation of social economic enterprises. As a result of the case analysis, institutional isomorphization was intensified if regional ecosystem(that can maintain and strengthen social value orientation) was not established. The creation of social value is at a level that satisfies the institution and the social value orientation is also weakened.

To understand the importance of effective operation of innovation infrastructure, the main world models of innovation development are considered, and the directions of using the experience of their functioning for Ukraine are determined. The main indicators of innovation activity of Ukraine in the context of regions are analyzed. There is a significant differentiation of innovation indicators in the regional context. The cartographic analysis of innovative activity of regions is presented. The mechanism of definition and implementation of priority directions of innovative activity in the context of the digital economy development is offered.

  • In Korea, various community investment renewable project models are being implemented to increase community acceptance of renewable energy. An important factor for enhancing local acceptance is that renewable energy projects have a positive effect on revitalizing the local economy such as income increase or job creation for residents and local companies. To maximize the local economic effect of large-scale community investment renewable energy projects, this study developed an evaluation index for local economy activation, whose indicators are the local return on investment, local companies' participation, local job creation, regional cooperation, transparency, and governance. Analysis of existing evaluation indicators and current renewable projects, financial analysis, and expert interviews were used in this research. The pilot evaluation determined that, the local economic effect was high in the following order: a fund investment wind project (Gangwon), benefit-sharing wind project (Jeju), and general wind project. In particular, residents' investment amount, the number of participating residents, and the amount and transparency of the regional cooperation fund were key factors to expand the effect of local economy activation. This evaluation index could be used in public bidding for renewable energy projects such as offshore wind zoning areas of local government.

Korea has experienced the rapid growth rate of the cultural industry in terms of sale amounts for the period of 2004-2009. The purposes of this study are to analyze the spatial pattern of the cultural industry and to empirically examine the effect of municipalities' cultural industries on regional economy using SUR model. The major findings are as follows: First, cultural industries are concentrated in the capital region and several metropolitan areas. Secondly, the estimated result of SUR model shows that there is inter-relationship between cultural industry and regional economy. The effect of the cultural industry on GRDP is that the cultural industry increased 1%, GRDP increased by 0.46%. In turn, GRDP increased 1%, cultural industry increased by 0.75%. Thirdly, the elasticity of the cultural industry on GRDP is much higher than that of labor or capital stock, showing that the cultural industry has a more powerful influence on its regional economy. Fourth, the elasticity of the cultural industry on GRDP of Gun is higher than that of shi, indicating that it is rational for Gun to develop strategies to promote competitive power of the cultural Industry for regional economic growth.

  • This study focuses on analyzing the economic effects and probes the necessity of establishing a customs free zone at the Port of Busan. It first considers the economic effects of establishing a customs free zone at the Port of Busan, then suggests policy prescriptions for introducing and operating the free zone system and improving the logistics functions of the Port. The timeline of this study is focused on 2007, when all of Busan Port will operate as a customs free zone and the first stage of the New Busan Port and distribution parks will be built and opened for operation. The regression analysis, which was conducted using the inter-industry relations table(input-output table data), provided a quantitative prediction on the effects of making Busan Port into a customs free zone. Regarding the impact of a free zone system on the domestic and regional economy, this research found that the impact of a customs free zone on domestic industries and the regional economy once the customs free zone is established throughout all of Busan Port would be highly positive. The positive economic effects on the domestic and Busan regional economy might be further strengthened if the value-added logistics function of Busan Port could be supplemented by effective linking to the hinterlands.
