혼합냉매의 성분비 조절을 통한 열펌프의 용량조절 (Capacity Modulation of a Heat Pump System by Changing the Composition of Refrigerant Mixtures)

  • Experimental investigation and cycle simulation of a capacity modulation of a heat pump system using a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant mixture, R32/134a as an alternative to R22, have been done. In the cycle simulation, the refrigeration system was operated by assigning the temperatures of the external heat transfer fluids with the heat exchangers generalized by an average effective temperature difference. Heating capacity, cooling capacity, and coefficient of performance (COP) of the system were investigated at several operating conditions. Experimental apparatus which had a refrigeration part and a composition changing part was built, and the performance of the heat pump system filled with R32/134a mixture was investigated. A gas-liquid separator was used in the experiment to change the composition by collecting the vapor and the liquid Phase separately, The mass fraction of the charged refrigerant in the heat pump system was 40/60 and 70/30 by weight percentage. The composition of the refrigerant with initial composition of 40/60 varied from 29/71 to 41/59 in the refrigeration cycle. For the refrigerant with initial composition of 70/30, the composition varied from 65/35 to 75/25.

  • A cryogenic Mixed Refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigeration cycle was designed to be applied to the semiconductor etching process with non-flammable constituents. 3-stage cascade refrigerator, single mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator, and 2-stage cascade type mixed refrigerant Joule-Thomson refrigerator are analyzed to figure out the coefficient of performance. Non-flammable mixture of argon(Ar), tetrafluoromethane(R14), trifluoromethane (R23) and octafluoropropane(R218) were utilized to analyze the refrigeration cycle efficiency. The designed refrigeration cycle was adapted to cool down the coolant of HFE7200(Ethoxy-nonafluorobutane, C4F9OC2H5) with certain constraints. Maximum coefficient of performance of the refrigeration system is obtained as 0.289 for the cooling temperature lower than -100℃. The detailed result of the coefficient of performance according to the mixture composition is discussed in this study.

  • Experimental studies for an indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system and a direct R404A refrigeration system were conducted. The configurations of the indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system are a R404A refrigeration system as a top cycle and a circulating $CO_2$ system as a bottom cycle. The direct R404A system was modified from indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system by removing circuit for $CO_2$ circulation. Various tests for both systems were conducted by changing load side brine temperature from 0 to 5 and $10^{\circ}C$ with cooling brine temperatures for R404A system at 15, 20, or $25^{\circ}C$. The indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system showed the highest COP when load side brine temperature was at $10^{\circ}C$ in the evaporator and at cooling brine temperature of $15^{\circ}C$. The COP of 3.04 under that condition was the highest. This indirect R404A-$CO_2$ refrigeration system showed 9.02% higher COP than the direct R404A system that had increased pipeline length of 15 m, which simulated actual installation in a supermarket.

Revised VX흡수식 냉동사이클의수치 해석 (A Numerical Analysis of a Revised VX Absorption Cooling Cycle)

  • A revised VX cycle using ammonia/water as the working fluid is a cycle which is suitable to produce cooling utilizing low temperature hat sources. The cycle was analyzed numerically to investigate the effects of the design and operating conditions on the performance. It was shown that both COP and cooling capacity were significantly influenced by the performance of he rectifier. Insufficient UA of the rectifier reduced both ammonia mass fraction and mass flow rate of the vapor entering the condenser, which produced cooling effect in the evaporator. As the temperature and the mass flow rate of the heat source increased, both COP and exergetic efficiency decreased due to the irreversibilities produced in heat exchangers, but cooling capacity did not vary much. Cooling capacity increased significantly as the coolant temperature decreased, although COP and exergetic efficiency remained nearly constant.

순수한 프로판 냉매를 사용한 액화석유가스 냉동사이클의 모사에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Simulation of LPG Refrigeration Cylcle Using Pure Propane Refrigerant)

  • 본 연구에서는 순수한 프로판 냉매를 사용하여 액화석유가스(LPG)를 액화 및 냉동 저장할 수 있는 냉동 사이클에 대한 모사기법을 소개하였다. 프로판을 액화시키기 위한 2차 냉매로써는 물을 사용하였다. 전체 냉동 사이클의 모사를 위한 열역학 모델로서는 Peng-Robinson 상태방정식을 사용하였다. 프로판 성분과 LPG구성성분의 증기압의 좀 더 정확한 추산을 위하여 Twu 등이 제안한 새로운 alpha function을 사용하였다. 또한 액상의 밀도를 정확하게 추산하기 위해서는 Peng-Robinson상태방정식 대신에 API모델식을 사용하였다. 모사를 위하여 Simulation Science사의 PRO/II with PROVISION version 7.1 범용성 화학공정 모사기를 사용하였다 본 연구를 통하여 국내에서 실제로 가동되고 있는 LPG 저장을 위한 냉동 사이클을 성공적으로 모사할 수 있었다.

  • The high-pressure natural refrigerant $CO_2$ is now being evaluated for use in the motor vehicle air-conditioning systems and for several types of unitary equipment. In this study thermodynamic properties of $CO_2$ is compared to those of R-22 and R-134a and the performance characteristics of $CO_2$ refrigeration cycle is analyzed. The results show that the optimum discharge pressure for the cycle performance exists. New design concept for the $CO_2$ refrigeration system should be developed due to the high-operating pressure of itself.

헬륨 냉동사이클을 이용한 수소액화 공정모사 연구 (Simulation Study of Hydrogen Liquefaction Process Using Helium Refrigeration Cycle)

  • 액체 수소는 기체 수소 부피의 약 1/800로 감소시킬 수 있어 동일 압력에서 기체 수소 대비 800배의 체적 에너지 밀도를 가지고 있고, 기체 수소에 비해 폭발 위험성이 낮고 수송이 용이하다는 장점이 있다. 하지만 수소 액화를 위해서는 대규모 시설투자가 필요하고, 단순 압축 저장방식에 비해 많은 에너지가 필요함으로써 경제성 문제가 수반된다. 따라서 에너지 절감형 수소액화공정 연구는 매우 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 수소 액화를 위한 주요 공정으로 헬륨/네온(몰 비 80 : 20) 냉동사이클을 선정하고 화학공정모사기 AVEVA 사의 PRO/II ver. 10.2를 이용하여 공정모사 및 에너지 사용량을 도출하였다. 수소 액화를 위해 헬륨/네온 냉동사이클만을 사용하는 경우, SMR+헬륨/네온 냉동사이클을 사용하는 경우, C3-MR+헬륨/네온 냉동사이클을 사용하는 경우 에너지 사용량을 상호 비교하였다. 그 결과 수소 1 kg을 액화하는데 소요되는 압축기 총 소요 동력은 각각 16.3, 7.03, 6.64 kWh이었다. 헬륨/네온 냉동사이클만을 사용하는 것보다 상용화되어 있는 SMR 공정이나 C3-MR 공정을 사용하여 예냉하는 경우 에너지를 크게 절감할 수 있는 것을 확인하였다.

초저온 캐스케이드 냉동사이클의 LNG 열교환기 압력강하 특성 (The pressure drop characteristics in LNG heat exchanger of cryogenic cascade refrigeration cycle)

  • Natural gas is converted in to LNG by chilling and liquefying the gas to the temperature of $-162^{\circ}C$, when liquefied, the volume of natural gas is reduced to 1/600th of its standard volume. This gives LNG the advantage in transportation. The pressure dorp of the cascade liquefaction cycle was investigated and simulated using HYSYS software. The simulation results showed that the pressure drop in the LNG heat exchanger is set to 50 kPa considering the increase in the compressor work of cryogenic cascade liquefaction cycle.

  • The present study has been conducted to an analysis of two stage refrigeration cycle with alternative refrigerant R410A. In the analysis, single stage cycle (R22 and R410A) compared to COP changing with supercooling degree. Secondly, two stage refrigeration cycle is investigated to the existence of intercooler or supercooler. At results, supercooler contributes to the increase of cooling capacity and the decrease of COP.

  • Recently, many researchers have studied the performance of the transcritical $CO_2$ refrigeration cycle in order to improve the system efficiency. In this study, the length of IHX in the $CO_2$ ejector cycle was varied so as to evaluate the performance improvement. As a result, compressor work and cooling capacity was increased by 3% and 5% as the length of internal heat exchanger was changed from 3 m to 15 m. The best COP was appeared at internal heat exchanger length of 12 m, and it was 3.01. Besides, the length of internal heat exchanger has a big effect to pressure lift ratio and entrainment ratio in the ejector $CO_2$ cycle and it may be changed with operating conditions and system specifications.
