  • An active sonar is used to the navigation system or military purposes. In the active sonar one of the problems is a reverberation. The reflected signals from surface, bottom, and volume are received at receiver. This reverberation is an interference in the active sonar, and for the enhanced performance must be rejected. In this paper I study the method to reject the reverberation. The proposed method use the orthogonal property between the signal subspace and noise subspace in the eigen subspace. In the proposed method the noise subspace is calculated. I have performed the computer simulations to prove the performance of the proposed method.

  • The combined transmission lines with the underground power cables are continuously expanded in power systems. So the fault of combined transmission line is increased every year as the complication of underground transmission line. In this paper. traveling wave theory and DWT wavelet transform are used for fast and accurate detection of fault location at the combined transmission line. Traveling wave travels to each bus like surge and repeats reflection and transmission till transient signal is completely disappeared. When fault is occurred on overhead and underground tine, the fault location detecting algorithm was performed with using continuous peak value time-delay of traveling wave reflected from A bus.

  • In this study, In order to measure foot pressure, it makes analyzing device using multi-pressure sensor. This device was limited frequency band to 5Hz by using low-pass filter and MCU was detected signal every milliseconds. After wearing the device, the result was confirmed by blue-tooth to measure wirelessly. Also, we propose an algorithm to obtain the walking pattern using a time table in each of the detected peak from the pressure sensor. Using the algorithm, right walking pattern and abnormal pattern was detected. The results can be reflected more individual walking patterns than when using a conventional methods and also, developed device was no restriction on the human activity.

  • <1. New level meter inside the fuel tank> Ultrasound level sensors are widely applied as level meters of liquid tank. Measurement instrument of level between water and fuel is developed. Since the fuel is inflammable, the sensor system doesn't allow to include any electric circuit inside the fuel tank. The optical cable sensor can satisfy this explosive condition. The measurement method with ultrasonic sensor is attached on the tank wall or tank manhole lid. The pressure sensor can't be applied inside the gasoline fuel tank. An ultra-sonic sensor doesn't detect a enough signal reflected from water level deep under gasoline fuel. The pressure sensor is difficult to measure the height o...

  • In this study an active vision system using a laser range finder is proposed for the navigation of a mobile robot in unknown environment. The laser range finder consists of a slitted laser beam generator, a scanning mechanism, CCD camera, and a signal processing unit. A laser beam from laser source is slitted by a set of cylindrical lenses and the slitted laser beam is emitted up and down and rotates around the robot by the scanning mechanism. The image of laser beam reflected on the surface of an object is engraved on the CCD array. A high speed image processing algorithm is proposed for the real-time navigation of the mobile robot. Through experiments it is proved that the accurate and real-time recognition of environment is able to be realized using the proposed laser range finder.

  • This paper presents the radio propagation effects in the shadow region due to the presence of obstacle, like building and tree, along the path at the B-WLL band. Using the Uniform Theory of Diffraction(UTD), the total field was obtained as the sum of contributions with diffraction ray from the each obstacle's edge, the direct ray, and the reflected rays from ground. The normalized signal level(in ㏈) is calculated with the parameters of the base station elevation and the distance between obstacle and receiver. This results are used to provide the suitable radio cell planning and coverage prediction in the area of shadow region.

  • This paper describes the measurement and location method of partial discharges in high voltage CV cables. Coupling capacitors were used to detect partial discharge signal. Impedance characteristic of the coupling circuit and an amplifier with a high Common Mode Rejection Ratio(CMRR) were studied to improve sensitivity of the circuit. From the calibration experiment, the sensitivity of the partial discharge detection circuit was about 100pC. Also, we confirmed that the location of partial discharges in cables can be estimated by calculation of time difference between the first pulse and the second one reflected from the other end of the cable.

  • A modular Gaussian beam model is developed to simulate some ultrasonic testing configurations where multiple interfaces are involved. A general formulation is given in a modular matrix form to represent the Gaussian beam propagation with multiple interfaces. The ultrasonic transducer fields are modeled by a multi-Gaussian beam model which is formed by superposing 10 single Gaussian beams. The proposed model, referred to as "MMGB" (modular multi-Gaussian beam) model, is then applied to a typical contact and angle beam testing configuration to predict the output signal reflected from the corner of a vertical crack. The resulting expressions given in a modular matrix form are implemented in a personal computer using the MATLAB program. Simulation results are presented and compared with available experimental results.

  • Oxidative stress suppresses animal health, performance, and production, subsequently impacting economic feasibility; hence, maintaining and improving oxidative status especially through natural nutrition strategy are essential for normal physiological process in animals. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring antioxidants that could be considered as one of the most promising materials used in animal diets in various forms. In this review, their antioxidant effects on animals are discussed as reflected by improved apparent performance, productivity, and the internal physiological changes. Moreover, the antioxidant actions toward animals further describe a molecular basis to elucidate their underlying mechanisms targeting signal transduction pathways, especially through the antioxidant response element/nuclear factor (erythroid-derived 2)-like 2 transcription system.

  • This paper proposes a speed-sensorless induction motor control system using the rotor flux error. The rotor flux observer uses the reduced- dimensional state estimator technique instead of directly measuring the rotor flux. The estimated rotor speed is obtained directly from the electrical frequency, the slip frequency, and the rotor speed compensation with the estimated q-axis rotor flux. To precisely estimate the rotor flux, the actual value of the stator resistance, whose actual variation is reflected, is derived. For fast calculation and improved performance of the proposed algorithm, all control functions are implemented in software using a digital signal processor (DSP) with its environmental circuits. Also, it is shown through experimental results that the proposed system gives good performance for the speed-sensorless induction motor control.
