지구 중력장 내에서 성립하는 운동 상태 방정식의 해를 구하기 위한 벡터의 스칼라 프로덕트 응용 (Application of Vector Scalar Product to Solve the Kinematic Equations in the Earth's Gravitational Field)

  • 지구 중력장 내에 위치한 물체는 연직 아래 방향의 힘을 받고 있다. 중력장 내에서 물체의 운동을 기술하기 위하여 운동상태 방정식을 이용한다. 자유 낙하하는 물체를 해석할 때 기준 방향은 연직 하방을 +y으로, 연직위로 던져 올린 물체를 해석할 때 기준방향은 연직상방을 +y으로, 연직 아래로 던져 내린 물체를 해석할 때, 기준 방향은 연직 하방을 +y으로 선택하여 해석함이 일반적이다. 이 논문에서는 두 벡터의 스칼라 곱 (즉, 도트 곱)을 이용하여 연직 상방 또는 하방 두 경우를 방향으로 선택하여 구성한 벡터 운동 상태 방정식(vector kinematics equations)을 해석의 결과가 서로 일치함을 제시한다. 두 벡터의 스칼라 곱 (즉, 도트 곱)을 이용하여 물체의 상태 방정식를 해석한 예는 선행 연구에서 거의 찾아볼 수가 없다. 이 결과를 이용하면, 수평면의 방향 또는 빗각을 이루는 방향의 초속도로 던져 올리거나 던져 내린 물체의 운동 상태를 해석하기 위하여 연직 기준 방향을 상방 또는 하방으로 임의 선택할 수가 있다.

분산 공유 메모리 시스템에서 메모리 참조 패턴에 근거한 거짓 공유 감속 기법 (Reducing False Sharing based on Memory Reference Patterns in Distributed Shared Memory Systems)

  • In Distributed Shared Memory systems, false sharing occurs when two different data items, not shared but accessed by two different processors, are allocated to a single block and is an important factor in degrading system performance. The paper first analyzes shared memory allocation and reference patterns in parallel applications that allocate memory for shared data objects using a dynamic memory allocator. The shared objects are sequentially allocated and generally show different reference patterns. If the objects with the same size are requested successively as many times as the number of processors, each object is referenced by only a particular processor. If the objects with the same size are requested successively much more than the number of processors, two or more successive objects are referenced by only particular processors. On the basis of these analyses, we propose a memory allocation scheme which allocates each object requested by different processors to different pages and evaluate the existing memory allocation techniques for reducing false sharing faults. Our allocation scheme reduces a considerable amount of false sharing faults for some applications with a little additional memory space.

A Fast Algorithm for Target Detection in High Spatial Resolution Imagery

  • Detection and identification of targets from remotely sensed imagery are of great interest for civilian and military application. This paper presents an algorithm for target detection in high spatial resolution imagery based on the spectral and the dimensional characteristics of the reference target. In this algorithm, the spectral and the dimensional information of the reference target is extracted automatically from the sample image of the reference target. Then in the entire image, the candidate target pixels are extracted based on the spectral characteristics of the reference target. Finally, groups of candidate pixels which form isolated spatial objects of similar size to that of the reference target are extracted as detected targets. The experimental test results showed that even though the algorithm detected spatial objects which has different shape as targets if the spectral and the dimensional characteristics are similar to that of the reference target, it could detect 97.5% of the targets in the image. Using hyperspectral image and utilizing the shape information are expected to increase the performance of the proposed algorithm.

  • Two-step quadrature phase-shifting digital holography based on the calculated intensity of a reference wave is proposed. In the Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) architecture, the method only records two quadrature-phase holograms, without reference-wave intensity or object-wave intensity measurement, to perform object recoding and reconstruction. When the reference-wave intensity is calculated from the 2D correlation coefficient (CC) method that we presented, the clear reconstruction image can be obtained by some specific algorithm. Its feasibility and validity were verified by a series of experiments with 2D objects and 3D objects. The presented method will be widely used in real-time or dynamic digital holography applications.

특징 지도를 이용한 중요 객체 추출 (Extraction of Attentive Objects Using Feature Maps)

  • 본 논문에서는 컬러 영상에서 배경의 복잡도와 객체의 위치에 관계없이 영상 내에 존재하는 중요 객체를 자동으로 추출하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 중요 객체를 추출하기 위해 에지(edge) 정보와 색상(color) 정보를 이용한 특징 지도를 사용한다. 또한, 효과적인 객체 추출을 위해서 참조 지도(reference map)를 제안한다. 참조 지도를 생성하기 위해서는 영상에서 사람의 시각에 두드러지게 구분되는 영역을 표현하는 특징 지도(feature map)를 먼저 생성한다. 그런 다음, 특징 지도들을 효과적으로 결합하여 배경의 영향을 최소화 하면서, 중요 객체가 존재할 확률이 높은 영역들을 포함하는 참조 지도를 생성한다. 특징 지도를 생성하기 위해서는 밝기 차 정보를 나타내는 에지와 YCbCr 컬러와 HSV 컬러 공간에서의 색상 성분을 사용하며, 특징 지도에 대한 생성 방법은 영상 내에서 밝기차이와 색상차이에 의해서 나타나는 경계 부분을 추출하는 방법을 사용한다. 최종적으로 중요 객체가 존재하는 영역을 나타내기 위해서 참조 지도와 특징 지도들을 결합한 결합 지도(combination map)를 생성한다. 결합 지도는 중요 객체의 외곽선 정보만을 표현하기 때문에, 객체 전체를 표현할 수 있는 객체 후보 영역을 추출하는데, 이를 위해서는 객체 후보 영역을 추출하기 위해서 convex hull 알고리즘을 사용한다. Convex hull 알고리즘에 의해서 추출된 영역은 여전히 배경 부분을 포함하고 있으므로, 영상 분할 방법을 적용하여 배경을 제거한 후 영상에서의 중요 객체를 추출한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능을 실험적으로 확인한 결과, 평균적으로 84.3%의 정확율과 81.3%의 재현율의 성능을 보였다.

Effect of reference objects on the accuracy of digital implant impressions in partially edentulous arches

  • PURPOSE. This study assesses the impact of additional reference objects (RO) on the trueness and precision of distance and angle measurements between scan bodies in digital scans with four different intraoral scanners (IOS) in partially edentulous models. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Maxilla models (Frasaco, Frasaco GmbH, Tettnang, Germany) with one (3-U) and two (4-U) missing posterior teeth were 3D printed and fitted with dental implants and scan bodies. Four intraoral scanners (Primescan (Dentsply Sirona, Charlotte, NC, USA) (PS), Trios 3 (3Shape) (T3), Trios 4 (3Shape) (T4), and CS3600 (Carestream Dentistry) (CS)) captured digital implant impressions with and without additional RO. Scans were aligned and assessed for distance and angulation measurements between scan bodies. Statistical analyses compared trueness and precision across model groups using the Student t-test and Welch's ANOVA. RESULTS. CS consistently showed the highest distance values across IOS devices in both the 4-U and 3-U models (P < .05), both with and without RO. The distance values were not considerably affected by the presence of RO (P > .05), except for a few isolated cases in the PS and CS groups of 3-U models. When measuring angles, CS usually showed greater values than the other IOS devices, especially when RO was present both in the 4-U and 3-U variants (P < .05). CONCLUSION. The influence of additional reference objects on accuracy varies with different scanner types, irrespective of edentulous area length.

웹 객체 이질성 기반의 적응형 웹캐싱 기법 (An Adaptive Web Caching Method based on the Heterogeneity of Web Object)

  • The use of a cache for storing and processing of Web objects is becoming larger. Also, many studies on the efficient management of the storing scope of caches are being done. Web caching algorithms have many differences from traditional algorithms. Particularly, heterogeneity of Web objects that are processing units of Web caching, and a variation of Web object reference characteristic with time are the important causes of the decrease the performance of existing algorithms. In this study, we proposed the new web-caching algorithm. A heterogeneity variation of an object can be reduced as the proposed method dividedly managing Web objects and a cache scope with heterogeneity, and it is adaptively reflecting a variation of object reference characteristics with the flowing of time. In the experiments, we verified that the performance of the proposed method was more improved than existing algorithms through the two experiment models which considered heterogeneity of an object.

기준점과 크기를 사용한 객체 인식 시스템 향상 (Enhanced Object Recognition System using Reference Point and Size)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 내에서의 객체를 기준점을 사용하여 크기에 따라 분류할 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에선 객체를 샘플로 하여 연구를 진행하였다. 제안된 시스템은 휴대폰 카메라를 이용하여 획득한 영상에서 객체를 크기 별로 인식해서 그 종류를 파악하고 분류한다. 기존의 객체 인식 시스템들은 객체의 크기만을 이용해서 해당 객체를 분류하였다. 그러한 시스템들은 일정한 거리를 두어 획득한 영상이 아니면 거리에 따라 객체의 크기가 달라져 오류가 발생하는 단점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서 제안하는 객체 인식 시스템은 이러한 기존의 객체 인식 시스템의 한계를 극복하고자 영상의 왼쪽 상단에 기준점을 두어 그 기준점과 객체의 크기를 비교하여 거리에 상관없이 객체를 분류할 수 있다.

3D Image Correlator using Computational Integral Imaging Reconstruction Based on Modified Convolution Property of Periodic Functions

  • In this paper, we propose a three-dimensional (3D) image correlator by use of computational integral imaging reconstruction based on the modified convolution property of periodic functions (CPPF) for recognition of partially occluded objects. In the proposed correlator, elemental images of the reference and target objects are picked up by a lenslet array, and subsequently are transformed to a sub-image array which contains different perspectives according to the viewing direction. The modified version of the CPPF is applied to the sub-images. This enables us to produce the plane sub-image arrays without the magnification and superimposition processes used in the conventional methods. With the modified CPPF and the sub-image arrays, we reconstruct the reference and target plane sub-image arrays according to the reconstruction plane. 3D object recognition is performed through cross-correlations between the reference and the target plane sub-image arrays. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, some preliminary experiments on the target objects are carried out and the results are presented. Experimental results reveal that the use of plane sub-image arrays enables us to improve the correlation performance, compared to the conventional method using the computational integral imaging reconstruction algorithm.
