축소모형을 이용한 MMC의 Redundancy Module 동작분석 (Redundancy Module Operation Analysis of MMC using Scaled Hardware Model)

  • In this paper, a hardware prototype for the 10kVA 11-level MMC was built and various experimental works were conducted to verify the operation algorithms of MMC. The hardware prototype was designed using computer simulation with PSCAD/EMTDC software. After manufactured in the lab, the hardware prototype was tested to verify the modulation algorithms to form the output voltage, the balancing algorithm to equalize the sub-module capacitor voltage, and the redundancy operation algorithm to improve the system reliability. The developed hardware prototype can be utilized for analyzing the basic operation and performance improvement of MMC according to the modulation and redundancy operation scheme. It also can be utilize to analyze the basic operational characteristics of HVDC system based on MMC.

  • 수율과 품질을 유지하기 위하여 불량 셀을 예비 셀로 수리하는 방법이 많이 사용되고 있다. 대부분의 메모리가 2차원 예비셀 구조를 갖는 상황에서, 최근의 Giga 용량 메모리의 경우 대부분의 칩에서 예비 셀에도 불량이 존재 한다. 본 논문에서는 예비 셀에 불량이 있는 경우를 고려한 자체 내장 수리연산 시 기존의 모든 자체 내장 수리연산 회로에 적용이 가능한 분석 영역 가상화 방법을 제시하였다. 분석 영역 가상화 방법은 향후 메모리 고용량화에 따른 필수 해결 사항인 에비 셀 불량에 대한 효과적인 대처방안이 될 수 있을 것이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 동영상 압축 기법을 향상시키기 위하여 효율적인 detail 추출 기법을 제안한다. 기존의 top-hat 변환을 이용한 기법은 고립되어 있고 시각적으로 중요한 detail의 추출에는 효율적이지만, 영역의 경계에서는 비효율적이다. 제안된 기법은 수리형태학적 Laplacian 연산의 영역경계 정보추출의 성질을 이용하여 압축을 향상시키고 저비트율을 제공한다. 실험결과를 통해서 제안된 기법이 기존 기법보다 효율적임을 보이고 수리형태학적 Laplacian 연산 적용의 타당성을 설명한다.

High Repair Efficiency BIRA Algorithm with a Line Fault Scheme

  • With the rapid increase occurring in both the capacity and density of memory products, test and repair issues have become highly challenging. Memory repair is an effective and essential methodology for improving memory yield. An SoC utilizes built-in redundancy analysis (BIRA) with built-in self-test for improving memory yield and reliability. This letter proposes a new heuristic algorithm and new hardware architecture for the BIRA scheme. Experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm shows near-optimal repair efficiency in combination with low area and time overheads.

Redundancy Resolution by Minimization of Joint Disturbance Torque for Independent Joint Controlled Kinematically Redundant Manipulators

  • Majority of industrial robots are controlled by a simple independent joint control of joint actuators rather than complex controllers based on the nonlinear dynamic model of the robot manipulator. In this independent joint control scheme, the performance of actuator control is influenced significantly by the joint disturbance torques including gravity, Coriolis and centrifugal torques, which result in the trajectory tracking error in the joint control system. The control performance of a redundant manipulator under independent joint control can be improved by minimizing this joint disturbance torque in resolving the kinematic redundancy. A 3 DOF planar robot is studied as an example, and the dynamic programming method is used to find the globally optimal joint trajectory that minimize the joint disturbance torque over the entire motion. The resulting solution is compared with the solution obtained by the conventional joint torque minimization, and it is shown that joint disturbance can be reduced using the kinematic redundancy.

  • This paper deals with a performance analysis of real-time control systems, which engages DMR(dual modular redundancy) to detect transient errors and checkpointing technique to tolerate transient errors. Transient errors are caused by transient faults and the most significant type of errors in reliable computer systems. Transient faults are assumed to occur according to a Poisson process and to be detected by a dual modular redundant structure. In addition, an equidistant checkpointing strategy is considered. The probability of the successful task completion in a real-time control system where periodic checkpointing operations are performed during the execution of a real-time control task is derived. Numerical examples show how checkpoiniting scheme influences the probability of task completion. In addition, the result of the analysis is compared with the simulation result.

  • Various physical limitations which intrinsically exist in the manipulator control system, for example kinematic limits and torque limit, cause some undesirable effects. Specifically, when one or more actuators are saturated the expected control performance can not be anticipated and in some cases it induces instability of the system. The effect of torque limit, especially for redundant manipulators, is studied in this article, and an analytic method to reconstruct the control input using the redundancy is proposed based on the kinematically decomposed modeling of redundant manipulators. It results to no degradation of the output motion closed-loop dynamics at the cost of the least degradation of the null motion closed-loop dynamics. Numerical simulations help to verify the advantages of the proposed scheme.

Self-Localized Packet Forwarding in Wireless Sensor Networks

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are comprised of sensor nodes that forward data in the shape of packets inside a network. Proficient packet forwarding is a prerequisite in sensor networks since many tasks in the network, together with redundancy evaluation and localization, depend upon the methods of packet forwarding. With the motivation to develop a fault tolerant packet forwarding scheme a Self-Localized Packet Forwarding Algorithm (SLPFA) to control redundancy in WSNs is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithm infuses the aspects of the gossip protocol for forwarding packets and the end to end performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated for different values of node densities in the same deployment area by means of simulations.

Reliability-aware service chaining mapping in NFV-enabled networks

  • Network function virtualization can significantly improve the flexibility and effectiveness of network appliances via a mapping process called service function chaining. However, the failure of any single virtualized network function causes the breakdown of the entire chain, which results in resource wastage, delays, and significant data loss. Redundancy can be used to protect network appliances; however, when failures occur, it may significantly degrade network efficiency. In addition, it is difficult to efficiently map the primary and backups to optimize the management cost and service reliability without violating the capacity, delay, and reliability constraints, which is referred to as the reliability-aware service chaining mapping problem. In this paper, a mixed integer linear programming formulation is provided to address this problem along with a novel online algorithm that adopts the joint protection redundancy model and novel backup selection scheme. The results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly improve the request acceptance ratio and reduce the consumption of physical resources compared to existing backup algorithms.

  • This paper presents a collision avoidance scheme for redundant robot manipulators based on the Configuration Control Scheme. We set a center line through the free space. And we use the redundancy to put the robot links, around the center line as close as possible to avoid the collision with obstacles. Computer simulation shows the effectiveness of this approach.
