The purpose of this study is to improve the stream water quality by the experimental hybrid constructed wetland system. It consisted of the water layer, sand bed planted reeds, irises and roses, gravel bed, yellow-soil media bed and a flow shifter (FS) which can reverse top and bottom flow in the middle of the wetland. The organic compounds and nitrogen removal efficiencies varied with the seasons, namely temperature change. In summer, the mean efficiencies of COD and TN in the outflow from this wetland system were 63.4 and 48.0% and shown the highest, respectively, whereas, the suspended solids and phosphorus removal efficiencies seemed to be less affected by temperature. As a result of inspecting the decreasing trend of pollutants, nitrification-denitrification in the wetland was the major removal mechanism for nitrogen, the nitrogen reduction was especially enhanced by the application of a FS in the wetland, and phosphorus reduction was mainly occurred as a consequence of adsorption of the yellow-soil media.
This Study calculated the Submerged Flow Characteristics and Discharge coefficient by the rising angular change of the Improved-Pneumatic-Movable. According to the result, the smaller the ratio of weir height and weir length (L/W) or the weir standing angle, the bigger of the downstream head ($H_2$). The change of discharge reduction factor ($Q_s/Q_1$), by the hight from weir crest to downstream surface and the ratio form weir crest to upstream water height ($h_t/H$), was decreased when the $h_t/H$ closed to number 1. Although the weir water depth of the down-stream was shallower level than the up-stream, the velocity was faster then before. And the more the flow, the less the gab between the upper and lower reaches level. And when the same flow condition, the downstream head ($H_2$) was increased when the L/W was bigger. The Submerged Flow Discharge coefficient of Improved-Pneumatic-Movable weir was made by the upstream approach flow head and the upper lower stream flow condition, not by the physical data of Movable weir.
The Gwangju Stream is a major tributary of the Yeongsan River. To maintain environmental and ecological functions in the stream, the flow is secured by natural water from the Mudeung Mountain as well as waters discharged from Lake Juam and the Gwangju sewage treatment plants. A substantial amount of water is supplied into the upper reaches of Gwangju Stream from Lake Juam. To examine the ecological effects of the water input from Lake Juam on the Gwangju Stream, a field survey of phytoplankton community species and an evaluation of water properties was conducted at five stations, from station GJ1 before the inflow to station GJ5 in the lower region. Nutrient levels decreased in the vicinity of the Lake Juam inflow, suggesting that this water inflow can contribute to the reduction of eutrophication in the stream. The phytoplankton community was mainly composed of Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae, and Cyanophyceae, and the community structure was similar to that of the other study sites located near the water inflow regions. The inflow of water from Lake Juam can affect water quality and the phytoplankton community over a limited area, reducing eutrophication and increasing water flow in the Gwangju Stream.

This paper outlines extraction potential of tidal stream resources from the simplified channel in which flow is driven by a head difference between inlet and outlet. Energy extraction alters the flow within a simple channel, and extraction of 10% energy flux in a natural channel would give rise to a flow speed reduction of about 5.7%. If 20% of the undisturbed energy flux is extracted, the flow speed is reduced by 11.3%. The simple channel also suggests that extractable energy might be higher if flow speed reductions are considered acceptable.

Studies are made of the turbulent separation bubble in a two-dimensional semi-infinite blunt plate aligned to a uniform free stream when the oncoming free stream contains a pulsating component. The discrete-vortex method is applied to simulate this flow situations because this approach is effective to represent the unsteady motions of turbulent shear layer and the effect of viscosity near the solid surface. The two key external paramenters in the free stream, i.e., the amplitude of pulsation, A, and the frequency parameter St[=fH/ $U_{1}$], are dealt with in the present numerical computations, A particular frequency gives a minimum reattachment which is related to the drag reduction and the most effective frequency is dependent on the most amplified shedding frequency. The turbulent flow structure is scrutinized. A comparison between the unperturbed flow and the perturbed at the particular frequency of the minimum reattachment length of the separation bubble suggests that the large-scale structure is associated with the shedding frequency and the flow instabilities.
A decision support system, Watershed Analysis Risk Management Framework(WARMF), was applied to the Kyungan Stream watershed, a tributary of Lake Paldang, for calculation of total maximum daily loads(TMDL). The WARMF system was developed by Systech Engineering, USA, and has been successfully used in several watersheds, for TMDL studies. The study area was divided into 14 sub-basins, based on digital elevation model(DEM). The integrated watershed and stream model of WARMF was validated by flow and BOD data measured during the year of 1999. There were reasonable agreements between model results and field data, both in water flow and BOD. The validated Kyungan WARMF was extensively utilized to study the quantitative relationship between waste loads and receiving water quality. Based on TMDL guideline at Paldang Lake and Kyungan Stream, the water quality criterion were set to be 3.0mg/L, 3.5mg/L, and 4.0mg/L at the watershed outlet. The allowable waste loads of BOD, both from point and non-point sources, were determined at each water quality criterion. From this study, it was concluded that the WARMF provided several advantages over the conventional application of watershed and stream models for TMDL study, such as time variable simulations, multiple possible soutions, and reduction loads for goal water quality, etc.

In this study, uniform pressure distribution with small hole on the surface of symmetric object were given to reduce the viscous frictional force. The results were as follows : 1. The velocity on upper stream were accelerated by uniform pressure distribution on symmetric objects for reducing the viscous frictional resistances. 2. The effects of the distributed small holes were reduced the viscous frictional resistances in down stream region more than upper stream due to the increasing pressure in reverse flow region. 3. The viscous skin friction on surface of symmetric objects with and without distributed small holes are effect in region of upper stream and much decreased in down stream region due to increasing of boundary layer thickness.
This paper, discribes analysis of theree - dimensional extrusion with the use of dual stream functions, By this method admissible velocity fields for the extrusion of three- dimensional flow was newly derived kinematically. For square section the extrusion pressure was calculated by numerical solution program which was based on the upper bound analysis. The relationship between relative extrusion pressure and reduction of area, relative die length and constant friction factors were successfully calculated which was newly developed in this study. The results could be applied to design extrusion die.
The reduction of the truncation error including numerical diffusion, has been one of the most important tasks in the development of numerical methods. The stream line method is used to cancel cross numerical diffusion and some of the non-diffusion type truncation error. The two-step stream line method which is the combination of the stream line method and finite difference methods is developed in this work for the solution of the govern ing equations of incompressible buoyant turbulent flow. This method is compared with the finite difference method. The predictions of both classes of numerical methods are compared with experimental findings. Truncation error analysis also has been performed in order to the compare truncation error of the stream line method with that of finite difference methods.

The increase of impervious cover (IC) in a watershed is known as an important factor causing alteration of water cycle, deterioration of water quality and biological communities of urban streams. The study objective was to assess the impact of IC changes on the surface runoff characteristics of Kap Stream basin located in Geum river basin (Korea) using the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM). SWMM was calibrated and verified using the flow data observed at outlet of the watershed with 8 days interval in 2007 and 2008. According to the analysis of Landsat satellite imagery data every 5 years from 1975 to 2000, the IC of the watershed has linearly increased from 4.9% to 10.5% during last 25 years. The validated model was applied to simulate the runoff flow rates from the watershed with different IC rates every five years using the climate forcing data of 2007 and 2008. The simulation results indicated that the increase of IC area in the watershed has resulted in the increase of peak runoff and reduction of travel time during flood events. The flood flow ($Q_{95}$) and normal flow ($Q_{180}$) rates of Kap Stream increased with the IC rate. However, the low flow ($Q_{275}$) and drought flow ($Q_{355}$) rates showed no significant difference. Thus the subsurface flow simulation algorithm of the model needs to be revisited for better assessment of the impact of impervious cover on the long-term runoff process.
