  • In this paper, the authors propose a current control system of single phase PWM AC/DC converter without the source voltage sensors. The sinusoidal input current and unity effective power factor are realised based on the estimated source voltage in the controller. The estimations of source voltage are performed based on the reduced-order Luenberger observer using actual currents. The estimated source voltage is used to accomplish unity power factor. The proposed method is proved by simulations

  • This paper proposes a sensorless V/f control method of the interior mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor without damper winding. Arithmetic computation is simpler than vector control. And the lower cost price, dynamics and stability is guaranteed. When the loss of synchronization occurs with the load disturbances, the stability loop with a reduced order observer is applied quickly and accurately to improve the speed error.

  • In this paper, an instantaneous speed observer with a reduced order is proposed to implement an indirect control for a motor with excellent dynamic stability and performance in a very low speed region. The proposed observer can estimate the instantaneous speed in very low speed region and simplify the system configuration by adopting an least order load torque-inertia observer to estimate the load torque and the motor speed. Simulation are carried out to illustrate the performance of the proposed estimator at very low speed.

  • In this paper, a seesaw system composed with a moving cart on the rail and seesaw frame is made to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control theory. The control aim is to maintain an equilibrium of seesaw frame in spite of various initial conditions and an allowable disturbance. To solve this control problem, a PI-type state feedback controller using reduced-order observer is implemented and applied to the seesaw system. The reduced-order observer can be used to estimate the state variables in the case of the limit of sensor number or the constraint on setting sensors and the cost. A series of simulation are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the control system.

The feedback gain matrices of both the state feedback controller and the state observer are obtained by a real-coded genetic algorithm(RCGA) such that the given performances indices are minimized.

  • Magnetic levitation systems are required to have a large operating range in many applications. As one method to solve this problem, Time Delay Control (TDC) is applied to a single-axis magnetic levitation system in this paper A reduced-order observer is utilized to estimate states excluding measurable states in the control law. The system consists of a square air-core solenoid and a circular permanent magnet attached on a plastic ball. Theoretical magnetic forces of the system are obtained on the basis of the location of the magnet around the solenoid. The magnetic levitation force is obtained by the experiment, and then compared with the theoretical one. As the results of the control experiments, the nonlinear controller (TDC : 1-2 ㎜) has a larger operating range than the linear controller (PD control : 1-1.4 ㎜), and is superior to linear. control in the robustness to the modeling uncertainty and the performance of the disturbance rejection.
