In this study, physical property evaluation and physical separation of the target product were performed to investigate the possibility of using sewage sludge gasification solid residue (GSRs) as a circulating resource. Firstly, the GSRs used in this study was supplied by Sudokwon Landfill Management Corporation, and generally the GSRs was in the form of porous pellets with a particle size of several millimetres. In addition, the partially black areas were confirmed to be unburned and ungasified carbon, and the average carbon content was 5%. In addition, the content of silica, alumina and phosphorus oxide was more than 70% of the total content. It was confirmed that the metallic components of the wet grinding product were separated into individual elements. As a physical separation of metallic and non-metallic components was required, it was finally found that flotation screening was suitable. Accordingly, cationic and anionic surfactants were selected to separate metallic components in which a relatively large amount of non-metallic components were concentrated, and the separation characteristics were confirmed. As a result, it is expected that the concentration of non-metallic components such as silica, alumina and phosphorus will be easier than the separation of metallic components. Therefore, since it is possible to physically treat the gasified sludge residue, it is judged to have potential as a circular resource according to the proposed recycling method for the separated product.

This study was carried out to assess and analyze the overall problems of the facilities in recycling and treating of foodwaste on the basis of the unit operation facilities. It proposes effective alternatives for the high profitable management that can meet the regulation of the facilities. The study is composed of several parts including a collection of academic reports, field studies regarding the facilities operated by local government and the private sector, the analysis on odor samples from compost facilities and processing facilities for animal feed from foodwaste. Twenty facilities were surveyed on the field to find out the existing problems and to compare between facilities. Several facilities didn't meet the governmental regulation on some processes, especially the stages of input, storage, odor control and the qualities of final products under the unit equipment operation. The analysis on the odors from the phases of input, shredding and fermentation of a compost facility and processing facilities for feed, the odors from shredding equipments were higher in concentration than the others. The Major odors from the composting facility contained hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$), methyl mercaptan ($CH_3{SH}$), Dimethyl sulfide ($(CH_3)_2S$) and Ammonia ($NH_3$) and the major odors from the animal feed facility contained methyl mercaptan ($CH_3{SH}$), Trimethylamine ($(CH_3)_3N$) and Acetaldehyde ($CH_3CHO$).
The objectives of this study are focusing on the issue with efficiently recycling for EAF slag as construction material such as an aggregate of concrete. This study can be classified mainly into two categories: the first section is the carbonation treatment of Electric Arc Furnace(EAF)-slag for obtaining soundness as using aggregate of concrete. And the second section is the application of carbonated EAF-slag on the mortar test to evaluate the stability and mechanical property, which is compressive strength, according to the replacement of EAF-slag on the mortar. It was known that pH of EAF-Slagle according to carbonation time decreases drastically to 7 within several sec of carbonation, and a calcite is formed on the surface of EAF slag. The formation of calcite during the carbonation process of EAF slag lead to fill at pore in the texture of EAF-Slag surface, and than the porosity of EAF-slag decreases with carbonation process. In the mortar test, compressive strength, according to the replacement of EAF-Slag to sand on the mortar, the compressive strength of mortar increased as the 50% replacement ratio of EAF slag for sand was above 10% higher than that of reference mortar according to 50% replacement of EAF slag.
As the demand for paper continues to grow and the importance of recycled paper, white ledgar(WL) and old newspaper pulp(ONP), continuously increase. In addition, usage of recycled paper is essential in terms of forest conservation and environmental protection issues. However, optical and mechanical properties of recycled paper have some drawbacks than regular paper's properties that is indispensable. In order to complement these problems of recycled paper, precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) was synthesized by the In-situ process with a recycled pulp. Depending on the size of PCC is divided into 2 types, $0.01{\mu}m{\sim}0.09{\mu}m$ colloid type ultra-fine particle and $0.1{\mu}m{\sim}0.9{\mu}m$ cubic type particles. In this study, we analyze how the different shape and size of precipitated calcium carbonate affects in the optical and mechanical properties of the recycled paper used as a filler. Furthermore, we mixed with chemical pulp for overcome reduce of mechanical properties, without using other chemicals, when we use PCC as a filler. The results has the possibility to meet in GR excellent recycling certification mark, standard was proposed.

Copper is used in many electronic components and construction parts due to its excellent electrical conductivity and heat transfer characteristics, and also used for pre-plating for double layer coating such as nickel, so that copper is an essential material in modern industry. Despite the expected increase of usage and importance on wiring, sensors and data equipment in the next generation industries, it is hard for securing stable copper supply and resource management resulting from the copper prices are fluctuating owing to the economic crisis in Europe, the low economic growth trend in China, and President Trump's commitment to public industrial facilities investment in U.S.. Since most of the domestic copper consumption is used by electrolytic copper cathode, we studied not only copper recycling technology which is being commercialized but also current research trend under the research stage. This study aims to examine the characteristics of each process and the areas where future recycling technology development is required.

Inorganic binding material was made by recycled resource and its applicability as pile-filling material was examined. The result was that the material had same liquidity with the liquidity of OPC and high reactivity with site soil. According to dynamic/static loading tests by site test-construction, the inorganic binding material met both design bearing capacity and settlement. Since the inorganic binding material showed same or better performance than OPC, the utilization possibility of the inorganic binding material made of recycled resource as pile-filling material was verified.

Autophagy serves as a survival mechanism and plays important role in nutrient recycling under conditions of starvation, nutrient storage, ad differentiation of plant pathogenic fungi. However, autophagy-related genes have not been investigated in Colletotrichum scovillei, a causal agent of pepper fruit anthracnose disease. ATG8 is involved in autophagosome formation and is considered a marker of autophagy. Therefore, we generated an ATG8 deletion mutant, ΔCsatg8, via homologous recombination to determine the functional roles of CsATG8 in the development and virulence of C. scovillei. Compared with the wild-type, the deletion mutant ΔCsatg8 exhibited a severe reduction in conidiation. Conidia produced by ΔCsatg8 were defective in survival, conidial germination, and appressorium formation. Moreover, conidia of ΔCsatg8 showed reduced lipid amount and PTS1 selectivity. A virulence assay showed that anthracnose development on pepper fruits was reduced in ΔCsatg8. Taken together, our results suggest that CsATG8 plays various roles in conidium production and associated development, and virulence in C. scovillei.

Continuous industrial development has led to a better quality of life for everyone, even further accelerating industrial growth. Industrial development, however, has also caused environmental degradation, which is posing a serious threat to humanity. It has also encouraged the indiscriminate use of limited resources, causing resource depletion. Efficient resource management based on resource circulation is critical to saving resources. Resource circulation methods are as follows: reducing the use of resources in the manufacturing process, recycling used or reprocessed products and reusing used resources without being reprocessed, remanufacturing with end-of-life products with disassembled parts. Furthermore, remanufacturing process including cleaning, inspection, repairing, and reassembling facilitate performance level as well as new typical products. It is noteworthy that the remanufacturing of machine tools can significantly save resources because their structural parts are substantially large in size. Machine tools have served as a foundation for the manufacturing industry, which has driven Korea's industrial development. Nevertheless, a few research has been reported for remanufacturing technology with used machine tools. Relevant research of developing a remanufacturing process chart and method is prerequisite for saving the resource and environments.

The government is promoting recycling of waste resources through the enactment of Fundamental Law on Resource Circulation, the revision of the Wastes Control Act and zero-landfilling of untreated waste through improved processes such as recycling and diversification. As of 2015, the total amount of landfilled waste is 38,308 ton/day in Korea. The amount of landfilled waste from industrial sectors is 23,577 ton/day, accounting for 62 % of total landfilled waste. In the study, we investigated the characteristics of the thermal treatment residue among inorganic wastes and estimated the landfill reduction potential according to the relevant recycling criteria, which can go through recycling paths. As a result, it is estimated that about 5~42 % of the landfilled waste can be reduced in case mandatory recycling and landfill suppression policies such as recycling criteria for thermal processing residues and expansion of recycling obligation targets should be implemented. In order to minimize landfill disposal, it is necessary to expand the diversity of waste recycling type and the usage of recycled products.

This study was conducted to recycle flotation tailings as non-sintered construction materials considering the economic and eco-friendly treatments. The particle size distribution( median $220\;{\mu}m$) of flotation tailings from Soon-shin mine was confirmed to be larger than that(median $140\;{\mu}m$) of tailings from Sam-kwang mine. Thus we investigated the properties of non-sintered eco-brick producted with the tailings from Sam-kwang mine and non-sintered water permeable block producted with the tailings from Soon-shin mine. Compressive strength of non-sintered water permeable block which was made with less than 25 wt% of tailings from Soon-shin mine was met with products class(over 14.70 MPa) of water permeable concrete(EL 245) from KEITL. Meanwhile, the coefficient of its permeability wasn't met with the products class( over $1.0{\times}10^{-2}\;cm/sec$). The properties of non-sintered eco-brick with less than 40 wt% of tailings from Sam-kwang mine were satisfied with third class in sintered clay brick products standard(KS L 4201). The non-sintered eco-brick as a result of leaching test on heavy metals by KSLT was verified to be environmentally stabile.
