Effect of Heat Treatment on Torsion Characteristics of High Nitrogen Steel Wire for Overhead Conductors (송전선용 고질소강선의 비틀림 특성에 미치는 열처리의 영향)

  • The effect of heat treatment on torsion characteristics of high nitrogen steel wire has been studied by torsion test, tensile test, specific resistivity, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. After heat treatment at 600∼$700^{\circ}C$, torsion cycle was increased with increasing temperature. Especially, in case of high nitrogen steel wire heat teated at $650^{\circ}C$, torsion cycle was sharply increased. It is estimated that cold worked high nitrogen steel wire started to recrystallize and phase transform at 64$0^{\circ}C$ in air atmosphere.

  • We have implemented a RTA system using W-halogen lamps and tried to recrystallize the phosphorus ion implanted amorphous silicon on insultor (SOI) taking advantages of seeding window. The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of a typical crystalline orientation occurred during the solidifying process of molten amorphous silicon layer. Experimental results show that several twin boundaries are found on the seeding window region after annealing for 15 sec at 1040\ulcorner. These twin boundaries represent that the recrystallization is partialy possible and when the annealing is done at 1150\ulcorner, (100) etch pits with <110> facets are found on the solidified amorphous silicon layer. Consequently, Hall mobility of recrystallized silicon film is measured and the thermal behavior of grain boundary is also observed by SEM.

  • P+ and BF2+ were implanted to LPCVD amorphous silicon films deposited on thermally-oxidized silicon wafers and the low temperature annealing process followed with various conditions to activate implanted ions and to recrystallize the films. We tried to find the optimum processing condition by comparing the recrystallization behaviors and the electrical properties. TEM analysis showed that the final grain size of BF2+-implanted films was similar to that of unimplanted films, whereas the grains of P+-implanted films. For both P+ - and BF2+ -implanted films, sheet resistances were decreased with elevating annealing temperature and the minimum value was about 110~120$\Omega$/$\square$ at $600^{\circ}C$.

  • The extracted field emission current can be used to controllably heat microfabricated cold field emission cathode tips. The heating can be sufficient to smooth and recrystallize the tip surface by surface self-diffusion, and at least partially clean the surface of contaminants by thermal desorption. Self-heating not only allows for the achievement and maintenance of stable emission characteristics, but can be used to make the current-voltage characteristics of microfabricated field emitter tips nearly identical to one another. The resulting improvement in emission uniformity will allow for more reliable array operation at increased electron emission current densities.

  • A commercial AA1070 alloy for electrical wire is severely deformed by drawing process in which a rod with an initial diameter of 9mm into is reduced to a wire of 2mm diameter. The drawn AA1070 wire is then annealed at various temperatures from 200 to 450 ℃ for 2h. Changes in microstructure, mechanical properties and electrical properties of the specimens with annealing temperature are investigated in detail. The specimen begins partially to recrystallize at 250 ℃; above 300 ℃ it is covered with equiaxed recrystallized grains over all regions. Fiber textures of {110}<111> and {112}<111> components are mainly developed, and {110}<001> texture is partially developed as well. The tensile strength tends to decrease with annealing temperature due to the occurrence of recovery or/and recrystallization. On the other hand, the elongation of the annealed wire increases with the annealing temperature, and reaches a maximum value of 33.3 % at 300 ℃. Electric conductivity of the specimens increases with annealing temperature, and reaches a maximum value of 62.6 %IACS after annealing at 450 ℃. These results are discussed in comparison with those for the other aluminum alloy.

  • The effect and Condition of heat treatment on the tensile strength of welded joint was investigated in 300 grade 18% Ni-Co-Mo-Ti maraging steel sheets welded with electron beam. A good tensile strength of welded joint was obtained by following heat treatment cycle ; At $1100^{\circ}C$ the specimen was high temperature solution treated for 1 hour and then it was repeated solution treated at $900^{\circ}C$, $820^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour respectively to recrystallize the coarsened ${\gamma}$ grain. These heat treatment cycle was completed by an final aging heat treatment at $480^{\circ}C$ for 4 hour. Moreover, dissolution of dendrite, a significant decrease in seregation of Mo, Ti in weld metal were observed and also the coarsened ${\gamma}$ grain formed at $1100^{\circ}C$, $1200^{\circ}C$ changed to fine grain due to the effect of recrystallization.

  • Antibiotics KG-431A and KG-431B were isolated from the fermentation broth of the Clostridium sp. KH-431. As we have shown previously, only KG-431B was successful to recrystallize. These antibiotics showed antimicrobial activities against broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi. KG-431B also showed anticancer activity against some animal tumor cells according to the SRB method. Physico-chemical properties of KG-431B were determined using UV, IR, NMR and Mass spectra. It was identified to be 3-Indole propionic acid and the structure of the KG-431A is currently under investigation.

  • For the production of Nucleic acid derivatives by microorganisms, adenineless mutants were induced from Bacillus subtilis with the mutagens, ultraviolet rays and diethylsulfate. And total strains of 62 adenineless mutants were isolated. These mutants were found to have an ability of accumulating u. v. absorbing substances in the culture broth. They were analyzed to be hypoxanthine, uracil, and other unknown compound by means of two dimensional thin layer chromatography, u. v. absorption spectra, and I. R. absorption spectrum. Mutant BS-137 was screened out to accumulate hypoxanthine, which was isolated from the culture broth through activated carbon column and recrystallize from cold water. The effect of the medium compositions on hypoxanthine accumulation were examined for the mutant BS-137. Glucose appeared to be the best carbon source, but molasses could be substitute for it, NaNO$_3$ and yeast extract were especially good sources of nitrogen.
