This study examines the relationships between desired recreation experiences recreational context and environmental attributes that influence the choice of national park in which to recreate. Eight hundred and five visitors in three national park in which to recreate. Eight hundred and five visitors in three national parks were surveyed. Seven recreational experience domains and four homogeneous groups were identified. The contributions of environmental attributes homogeneous groups were identified. The contributions of environmental attributes to the choice of national park were found to differ among four groups, and across recreational context such as past experience, membership, and the length of visit. The implications for national park management were discussed.
This study attempt to evaluate the recreation space(two patterns ; one is open space ; forest, water-front space and free open space, the other recreational fercilities) located in the natural area based on clarifying the relationship between the physical conditions of these spaces and human response(users' cognitive evaluation and users' activity pattern). On this standpoint it was proceeded to analyses of the information which was collected by interviews to users who were in this open space at the natural park of Osaka Prefecture. Through this study, the results were summarized as follows ; 1) Forest and waterfront space are considered to be a basic factor of the composition in natural recreation areas. There was difference on the recreational value depending on condition of forest composition. The hardwood-forest apparently high in its efficiency. 2) Free open space is a definite recreational space surely wide in its scope of active of recreational use. The site should be setted up considering the plants conditions around and geographical features according to the recreational activities, and the ground cover should be well controlled. 3) The recreational facilities in natural settings such as the sightseeing tower, the insect display hall, and the camp site appeared to produce low value as a recreational space. It was desirable that recreational activities be allowed within the scope. Consequently, we should carefully consider environmental capacity and landscape to designing these spaces 4) Traditional history and cultural properties are recognized as part of recreational resource as and also as essence of the compositions. So continuos care and proportion of history and cultural properties should be guaranteed.
Objectives: This study was conducted to provide scientific and effective information on phytoncides, which are associated with forest healing, and to activate recreational forests. Methods: The target sites were natural recreation forests, a forest park and an arboretum, and the control sites were three urban parks. The samples were collected at a volume of 6.0 L and a flow rate of 0.1 L/min for one hour using a low volume pump and the solid adsorbent sampling method. The phytoncide compounds adsorbed in the Tenax TA tube were analyzed by a automatic heat desorption unit and GC-MS. Results: By type of recreational forest, the annual concentrations of phytoncide (monoterpene) for the forest park showed the highest concentration with $1.450{\mu}g/m^3$, while those for the arboretum showed the lowest concentration at $0.892{\mu}g/m^3$, and thus the concentration of the forest park was approximately 1.6 times higher than the arboretum. The season showing the highest concentration of phytoncides was summer (June) and the forest park was the highest among the recreational forests. The concentrations of major components for phytoncide showed in descending order: ${\alpha}-pinene$, ${\beta}-pinene$, camphene, 3-carene and limonene. The seasonal concentration of ${\alpha}-pinene$, camphene and ${\beta}-pinene$ by type of recreational forest increased in April, which is characterized by low temperature and humidity, and the seasonal concentration of camphene decreased with higher humidity. The meteorological factors which had the high correlation with the concentration of total terpene were temperature and humidity. $CO_2$ and $O_2$ showed an inverse correlation. Conclusion: The major components of phytoncide were ${\alpha}-pinene$, ${\beta}-pinene$, camphene, 3-carene and limonene in descending order of concentration. Further and systematic study on the chemical nature of individual phytoncides, and on the effect of phytoncides on humans needs to be performed.
This study has been carried out to lay out a scheme to increase the recreational functions of the forests through improvement of trail environment. To achieve the objective, environmental characteristics of the trails, actual condition of the users, and status of the park management were investigated in the suburb parks of Tokyo, Japan in 1996. As the results, the managing agency of investigated parks has been set itself to activate the use rather than environment conservation and improvement of recreational environment in forests. However, for taking into account the behavior and the purpose of visits in forest, the enhancement of scenic quality and amenity in the parks is a pressing need in recreational conditions. Therefore, to increase the recreational functions in forests, selection of courses and keeping of natural trails in good condition, control of users to ensure amenity, introduction of planting methods to enhance scenic quality and educational effects, and management to efficient conservation of nature ecosystem are required.

Perceived crowding is known as a necessary method to evaluate social carrying capacity in recreational settings. But according to the results of previous research, perceived crowding, use density, and satisfaction have shown weak and indirect correlations. The theory of visitors’ adjustment is one of several possible explanations for this poor relation. But the validity of the visitors’ adjustment theory has not been not inspected clearly. Therefore, the purposes of this study are to understand visitors’ adjustment theory and to examine visitors’ adjustment to the overuse of recreational settings. Study hypotheses were formulated through literature review and related to visitors’ adjustment in recreation density. Pour hypotheses were established and inspected with the case study, i.e., Rationalization : Visitors’ satisfaction isn't related to use density in recreation setting, 2) Product-shift : Preference norm is related to current use density, 3) Self-selection : Visitors’ satisfaction for the use level is generally high, and 4) Displacement : Norm interference is related to willingness to revisit. The case study was conducted during May and June,2001. According to the results of this survey, visitors adjust to overuse of recreation setting through rationalization and product shift (hypotheses l/2 acceptance). Current use density isn't related to visitors’ satisfaction and willingness to revisit (see table 3). And visitors’ preference norm is modified by situation (see table 4). Visitors’ satisfaction and willingness to revisit don't show a high correlation but moderately high (see table 5, hypothesis 3 acceptance). Differences between visitors’ preference norm and current use density is norm interference. Norm interference isn't related to willingness to revisit (see table 7). Therefore, the norm interference concept is not a useful method to explain visitors’ adjustment to the degree of overuse in a recreational setting (hypothesis 4 rejection). As for future directions, the following are proposed: 1) correctly understanding and reestablishing the visitor norm and norm interference concept, 2) introducing a composite research method to monitor visitors’ behavior and survey visitors’ attitudes and coping responses. These efforts would be helpful in the Planning and management of recreational settings to improve the quality of visitors’ experiences.
As theme park farms, which attract noticeably low interest from the government have gained their own managerial skills for a long time, we can now and many successful cases, This study showed there were four types of tourism villages; those that were experienced in the harvesting and sale of agricultural products, farm sleeping, recreational and leisure, and food. 1 also suggested the successful management model according to each type. The results show the recreational and leisure type had the highest annual income out of all four groups. The total income of recreational and leisure type villages were 260,000 thousand won which is more when compared to 110,000 thousand won for sleeping, 60,000 thousand won (or food, and 40,000 thousand won for harvesting agricultural products. The ratios of capital productivity (net income/invest) were 12.4 for recreation and leisure, 7.7 for food, 6.9 for farm stay, and 2.89 for harvesting. 1 suggest that farm managers should be satisfied with farm management and the priority of improving farm management should focus on the development of specific products within each farm.
The purpose of this study is to estimate the Willingness To Payment (WTP) of sea-anglers regarding the increase in the abundance of fish resources resulting from the Korean vessel buy-back program using the contingent valuation method. Data was collected through sample surveys of 352 sea-anglers across the nation in 2015. If a 20% increase in the abundance of fish resources resulted from the vessel buy-back program, WTP estimates of sea-anglers per recreational fishing trip were 9,570 won on truncated mean, 16,528 won on mean, and 35,830 won on median, respectively. Additionally, when the number of annual total recreational fishing trips in Korea were estimated as 22,700 thousand trips, the annual increase in national welfare through recreational fishing was estimated to be 217.2 billion won on the truncated mean, 375.2 billion won on the mean, and 813.3 billion won on the median, respectively.
The primary concerns of recreation plan are to provide visitors with quality of recreational experience and to protect of recreation resources. The quality of recreational experience is often defined in terms of social carrying capacity. The carrying capacity is revealed as perceived crowding. In this respects, measuring perceived crowding is useful tool of social carrying capacity determination. This study is to test the structural equation model that includes variables affecting perceived crowding. Through an on-site questionnaire survey, 467 visitors on Naejangsan national park were collected. The results of the study are follows. The encounter level on facility area is higher evaluated as crowding factor than other area in the park. It can be concluded that visitor perceived crowding when facility area situates high density use level rather than other areas expose high density use level. In the path analysis, the input variables(attitude, experience, encounter level) on the structural equation model affect significantly on perceived crowding. Especially, the attitude on the park management polocy is the most affecting factor on perceived crowding.
This study examines the relationships between visitors' environmental attitudes as measured by the new environmental paradigm (NEP) and their recreational motivations based on data collected from a national park in South Korea. The data analysis indicated that visitors' environmental attitudes and motivation were multi-dimensional structures. The NEP composed of three factors named 'Humans over Nature', 'Balance of Nature', and Limit to Growth'. Visitors' motivation also composed of four factors representing 'Achievement and Stimulation', 'Escape and Enjoying Nature', 'Social and Leadership', and 'Family'. However, there were significant correlations among the factors, suggesting they were independent each other. There were also significant differences in visitors' motivation due to their level of environmental attitudes.
This study is analyzed on user's activities and recreational value through a questionnaire on users of the forest road in urban forest. Users visiting the forest road in urban forest went to there about three times a week, and the re-visit intention was showed highly. The forest road in urban forest is used too much for the promotion of health as a walk and a mountain pass of the citizen, and they think that forest road is useful for forest recreation. The satisfaction grade on forest road's equipment was effective above the average. As the result of valuation on recreational value of forest road in urban forest, the recreational value was evaluated 153.2 won. So, if it is collected the using fees for forest road, it was showed that it is proper about 150 won for one person.
