  • The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in heart rate according to recovery methods after circuit weight training exercise. Fourteen men in their twenties were selected as subjects, and three sets of circuit weight training were performed by cycling six sports, and two recovery conditions (dynamic and static) were performed immediately after exercise. Changes in heart rate did not have an interactive effect according to recovery method and time, and both conditions showed significant changes between sets 1 and 2, and between sets 3 and after recovery. In this study, the high heart rate of 2 sets and 3 sets was seen as a result of exercise stimulation, and the low heart rate of 1 set was thought to be due to the decrease in vagus nerve activity rather than the role of catecholamines. On the other hand, the heart rate after 20 minutes of exercise did not show any difference according to the recovery method, which could mean that the recovery process due to the aquatic environment can act more strongly than the process of dynamic recovery and static recovery. It is thought that the characteristics affected the sensory and circulation of the body, and thus the change of the afferent signal and the level of metabolic products generated in the active muscle.

  • This study was performed to compare two opioid drugs with isoflurane and to determine the difference between isoflurane/remifentanil anesthesia and isoflurane/fentanyl anesthesia in terms of the anesthetic effects in beagle dogs. Isoflurane was maintained at 0.5 MAC, and the opioid drug was administered as a constant rate infusion. The anesthesia was maintained for 2 hours, and isoflurane and opioid drugs were discontinued 2 hours later. After discontinuing the anesthetics, the extremity movement time, eye global positioning time, gag reflex time, head up time, sternal recumbency time, standing time, walking time and complete recovery times were recorded for each dog. Both of the studied anesthetic protocols were suitable in beagle dogs because the anesthetic status was well maintained until the end of the procedure, and rapid recovery times were demonstrated in this experiment. And this study shows that the isoflurane/remifentanil group was more reliable than the isoflurane/fentanyl group because the recovery time CV was lower. Therefore, isoflurane/remifentanil combination anesthesia could be a better choice than isoflurane/fentanyl anesthesia if the patient is severely ill and stable recovery time is needed.

  • We propose a lane adaptive recovery scheme for multiple lane faults in a multi-lane-based Ethernet link. In our scheme, when lane faults occur in a link, they are processed not as full link faults but as partial link faults. Our scheme provides a higher link utilization and lower packet loss rate by reusing the available lanes of the link and providing a low recovery time of under a microsecond.

  • Functional recovery of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) patients were studied by examining functional independence measure (FIM) to evaluate the functional state of the patients at admission to and at discharge from the hospital and its relationship with the family support. Study subjects consisted of 129 CVA patients, who were admitted and received rehabilitation treatment at K Medical Center of Oriental Medicine from August 3 to December 18, 1997. The results were as follows: 1) Total FIM score was $72.37{\pm}25.16$ at admission and $101.67{\pm}22.13$ at discharge. The difference of average score was 29.30, which was statistically significant by paired t-test. 2) The largest difference between FIM scores at admission and at clischarge was observed in items of walking and wheel-chair riding, and the smallest clifference in items of social interaction. 3) The recovery was faster with motor function than with cognitive function, because the difference of FIM scores at admission and at discharge was much larger with motor function. 4) Recovery was better in groups under age 49 than in groups above age 70. Functional recorvery was prominent especially in groups with normal sensory state and speech functions, and groups without urinary incontinence. Recovery was less significantly in patients with paraplegic patients hospitalized longer than 2 months, patients with family all the time, and patients with CVA over 11 days. 5) We could not find any relationship between functional recovery and family support. FIM scores were lower in groups of old age(r=-0.325), long stayed in hospital (r=-0.426), and long period of time after the onset of disease(r= -0.339) with a reciprocal correlation between FIM scores and these parameters. 6) Stepwise multiple regression analysis was done to evaluate factors to affect the recovery from CVA. FIM score at admission could explain 51.2 % of the functional recovery. Important factors were periods of hospitalization, state of sensory function, age, and education (listed in decreasing order of importance). In total, they could explain 64.89% of the functional recovery. These results indicate that functional recovery of CVA patients, who were admitted to oriental medicine hospital for rehabilitation treatment, could be estimated by measuring FIM scores. Recovery was significantly better at discharge from the hospital than at admission and motor function recovery rate was much faster than that of cognitive function. 2. Recommendation Based on these results, we recommend following further studies. 1) Comparative study of recovery of motor function and of sensory function would be necessary by measuring FIM scores once a week to evaluate the recovery of CVA patients. 2) It would be interesting to see whether there is any difference of functional recovery between patients treated with either western medicine or oriental medicine. 3) Psychological factors affecting the recovery of CVA patients need to be studied.

  • A high speed address recovery technique for AC plasma display Panel(PDP) is proposed. By removing the GND switching operation, the recovery speed can be increased and switching loss due to GND switch also becomes to be reduced. The proposed method is able to perform load-adaptive operation by controlling the voltage level of energy recovery capacitor, which prevents increasing inefficient power consumption caused by circuit loss during recovery operation. Thus, the technique shows the minimum address power consumption according to various displayed images, different from Prior methods operating in fixed mode regardless of images. Test results with 50" HD single-scan PDP(resolution = 1366$\times$768) show that less than 350ns of recovery time is successfully accomplished and about 54% of the maximum power consumption can be reduced, tracing minimum power consumption curves.

  • This study was conducted to find out the effects of rainfall occurring during the paddy sun-during process of traditional paddy harvesting operations on the quality of milld rice. Rice varieties used for the experiment were MINEHIJARI variety a japonica and SUWEON 264 vareity , a sister-line of TONG-IL . Sun-drying days after the paddy cutting, times of storm occurrance during sun-drying period, and storm duration were treated as variables. The results is summarised as follows : 1. Brown rice recovery exposed to rainfall during the sun-druing period were ranged 81.6-82.1% and 79.4-80.2% for MINEHIKARI and SUWEON 264 varieties, respectively. which showed negligible effect by rainfall. 2. Milling recovery of MINEHIKARI variety was not affected by storm duration but by the by the sun-drying days after cutting as the sun-drying days increased to eight and four days when the variety met the rainfall one and two times, respectively. The range of milling recoveries of MINEHIKARI variety were 75.18-74.07% and 75.24-73.46% as the variety met the rainfall one and two times, respectively, and it were estimated that up to 0.9% and 1.5% of milling recovery would be reduced by one and two times of rainfall during sun-drying period. 3. The milling recovery of SUWEON 264 variety was affected only by the increase of drying days after cutting when it met one time of rainfall during the sun-drying period, while it was begun to reduce by the storm duration more than 11hours as the drying paddy met two times of rainfall. The milling reveries of the paddy met one and two times of rainfall were ranged 74.24-73.21% and 74.02-72.36% which were estimated to be reduced up to 0.9 % and 1.8% by the increase of the drying days after cutting and storm duration , respectively. 4. The head rice recovery of MINEHIKARI rice variety showed notable decrease as the drying days after cutting increased, and also it was greatly reduced even by the five hours of storm duration when one time of rainfall occurred but it was not affected by storm duration when the rainfall occurred two times. Head rice recoveries of MINEHIKARI met one and two times of rainfall during the sun-drying period were 65. 15 -40.85% and 61.86 - 30.03 %, which showed terrible reduction as much as up to 25% and 35% compared to that which did not met rainfall during the sun-drying process. 5. Head rice recovery or SUWEON 264 variety was very much reduced as the sum-drying days after cutting increased. Storm duration less than five hours during the sun-drying process did not affect on the decrease of head rice recovery when the variety was exposed to one time of rainfall, while storm duration affected considerably on the reduction of head rice recovery of SUWEON 264 variety exposed to two times of rainfall. The range of head rice recovery, 56.43 - 33.94% and 51.28 - 21.03% , for the paddy exposed to rainfall one and two times were evaluated that up to 24% and 37% of reduction in head rice recovery would be brought about compared to the head rice recovery of the sundriedpaddy that did not met the rainfall.

  • The creep of concrete structures caused by variable stresses is mostly calculated by step-by-step method based on the superposition of creep function. Although most practical application is carried out by this linear assumption, significant deviations between predictions and experiments have been observed when unloading takes place, that is, stress is reduced. The recovery is overestimated. The main purpose of this study is to present the application method of the creep analysis model which is expressed with both creep function and creep recovery function to concrete structures where is expressed with both creep function and creep recovery function to concrete structures where increase or decrease of stress is repeated . To apply two function method to time analysis of concrete structures, this study presents the calculation method of creep strain increment for stress variation. Then, this paper executes the time analysis for an example using suggested method, and compares theses results with the previous analysis values and experimental results.

  • In this paper, we studied the transient gain response in TDFA(Thulium-Doped Fiber Amplifier) theoretically. We also investigated the limitation of the gain saturation and recovery time when the short pulse trains are incident into the TDFA with the spectral gain band in 1.47${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ for using at WDM. We can predict the interval between the pulse train, pump power and the effect of the saturation and recovery time which is affected to the amplification of the optical pulse.

  • The purpose of this research is to study how service recovery activities influence customers' commodity churning in the media telecommunication industry(CATV industry). Put it differently, we tried to identify this change of commodity churning rates by the stages of service failures, by which we intend to emphasize the importance of service recoveries. Korean media telecommunication market has already been saturated; customers tend to move to bigger major companies with better customer care increasingly. As once customers gone never returns, CRM functions are being reinforced over the time. We were able to have the following results. First, turning rates, for those experienced service failure, who were dissatisfied with service recovery activities are 2~5 times (monthly average turning rates are 1.3%) higher than those satisfied. Secondly, active service recovery activities at the customer's service request after experiencing service failure lowered churning rates significantly. The most effective timing is service recovery activities pre-recovery stage. Thirdly, reward activities after service recovery activities at the immediate recovery stage is more effective than service recovery at the arranged recovery schedule and reward activities after customer's expressing churning intension. The implications of this study are that firms should engage in service recovery activities at the time of identifying service failures, prior to customer's expressing churning intention, which means relatively lower ROI for the service recovery activities than the times of customers' expressing churning intention.
